wow, 3 yrs? i would definitely look into sending it to one of those places that can recover the data (or attempt to do so). I would say it'd be worth it.
i had 3 years worth on there not backed up but Dave had a ton. i may have only lost a month's worth or too. the summer before the wedding. and i didn't do anything worthwhile then. but the SU files and stuff i wish i had but i can download most again and being the person that I am i have e-mails of a ton of hem because i sent the files to others. but i'll probably find out later that i'm missing ones from throughout the entire thing. well i know i'm missing some but i take a lot of pictures of nothing really. and i don't think the data would be properly recovered anyway. when the hard drive still worked a little a lot of the pictures that i couldn't copy were damaged so there wouldn't be anything to recover.
