3.10 - Race photos

I took race photos for the first time ever. 5k, 5miles, and 10 miles.  It was quite exciting to be around when people were finishing but it was also killing me to not be running.  I uploaded the photos to my other picasa since my normal one will get full. But then I made a new picasa for the race people.
It took a long time to get the photos uploaded onto one of the race directors laptops. The only card reader kept breaking with the eye-fi card. I took over 1700 pictures. Kevin (bright jacket in the top right) also took race photos but he only took 1 picture of each finisher and I tried to get as many as possible.  I also got pictures of people going around their laps because I always wish I had them when I run long races. I created 4 albums and the 5th has 24 photos and that's what the student photographer took that they posted. (I logged in and there were 6 albums but they had one as private. I changed it to share because they were other race photos. Good thing they never changed the password) Since I took so long to write this I ended up finding a blog of someone who ran this race and she photo credited me. Boy did that make me happy.  She also ran the 50k that I ran and I remember here there. I'm even in one of her photos on her blog!  (Getting the photography credit made me so happy so I thought on the March Mad Dash albums, I should say the photos were by me.)

Taking photos at the race made me want to take photos at all races that I'm available for. It was killing me not to run it myself though.
After I got home, I had some pizza for lunch.  At the race they had tons of food, but I was busy taking photos. By the time I was done, I was trying to get the pictures loaded onto someone's laptop and they already started putting everything away.

Dave and I went to Target and then Lowe's. We spent $119 at Target even though we only had 5 things on our list.  We bought 2 new light fixtures so that we could replace the keyless fixture that is nothing but a light bulb hanging down as a ceiling light.  Dave wanted to install them when we got home but I said we had to watch Dexter. There were 3 episodes left in the season and he thought I would wait. All I think about is Dexter so I don't want to wait.

We watched Dexter. We made quesadillas for dinner.  We watched some other TV too.

I fell asleep on the couch fairly early. It was a little after 10 and that's early for me on a Saturday. Usually Dave falls asleep by then on a Saturday.

3.16 - Rest Day

Dave was my model.
The day before a big race is rest day so I did not exercise. But I woke up near 8am and started cleaning up. I was organizing. I went into the basement and got old clothes for Dave. I did laundry.  I was on the go almost all day. I had almost 8,000 steps and the only days I get that many are days I run.  I was on my feet for many hours.  By the end of the day my feet hurt. I thought that couldn't be good for my race.  I ended up with 4:23 of physical activity according to my BodyMedia fit.
$35 for the flats, $20 for the sandals
I met Dave to shop for shoes for him and I ended up getting 2 pairs and he ended up getting none.
I made Dave try on old clothes. We made a big Goodwill pile. I also made a pile of pants that need to be hemmed. I hope I get to these while he still fits into them. (The black t-shirt photo is priceless.)

Around 7 PM we went to Campecino's for dinner.  We dined outside. It feels so crazy to eat outside in mid march. Then we went to Yum. It was 9:10 by the time we were done and Dave wanted to go to Giant Eagle. There was NO WAY I was going. I still had to prep for my race and figure out what to wear and all that stuff. Plus I had to wake up so early so I needed time to wind down.  Dave was mad I wouldn't go. I said we go could in and grab a few things but not browse around.  He wouldn't have any of that so I wouldn't go at all.

March Workout Goals - Overall Summary

The month started out great but then went all downhill when work sucked the life out of me.  I blew a few of these out of the water and was close to meeting some. If I paid more attention the last few days I would have hit the core workout one.  I don't think I've ever run this many times in a single month and this month I'm injured and was supposed to take time off.  This is probably why I'm still injured!  I didn't meet all my goals but I'd call this month a success because I ran a 50k and a 30k and still managed to do some other stuff.
  1. Complete 18 cardio workouts (running, exercise bike, or elliptical)  (February = 18, not met; January = 19, met; December = 18, met; November = 18, met) [This month I will allow 10 minutes on the bike to count if it is a warmup to knee exercises. Usually 15 minutes is the minimum.]

A Day's Worth of Twitter

02:39:35 PM - @TENroaches @polahbea he's getting at that it is me and I hate meatballs.
02:57:16 PM - @mikecherepko well these were fresh. I've only had from other restaurants or frozen before. Usually too much meat for my liking though.
05:47:13 PM - Sporting event at the track so we can't run. We are on our way to another track. Hope nothing is going on there.
07:16:29 PM - @angelineevans I am surprised too. It really annoys me.
11:35:29 PM - I found @loratastic's blog and she ran the 50k that I ran and she ran March Mad Dash that I took photos at. http://t.co/0FxwDNuT

Friend Friday: Remixing

October 2010 - Present
Katy came up with these questions.
The one-time use phenomenon. I've been reading a number of posts lately about only wearing something once and how many bloggers are accused of this. Seems a good topic for us.
October 2011, February 2012
1. Are you a one-time wearer?
Not even close. I even post in the exact same outfit more than once.

2. Do you feel the need to purchase something new for an evening out or a special event?
No. I hate to do that. Sometimes I feel guilty about not doing it because it was the same dress before but it still all works out. I will buy new dresses because I feel like it and I don't do it when there is a special event coming up.

3. Re-mixing is something a lot of bloggers are proud of being able to accomplish - are you a re-mixing pro or do you shy away from posting items frequently? Why?
Sometimes I might post items from one outfit the very next day. I don't tend to wear things so close so the posts aren't so close but it's not like I'm holding back.  But I don't think I'm a pro. I still tend to catch myself wearing the same shirt with the same skirt even though clearly both would go with other things. If I have worn the same jeans and a tee shirt multiple times I don't take the time to make my pretty arrows with with I got things anymore though. I have previously posted about why I remix. I try not to wear the same thing within a few weeks if it is more obscure like a pink skirt or a plaid skirt. If it is black pants or a black skirt on the other hand, I'll wear those whenever.  I have a large closet and hate focusing on one thing so each day I try to branch out more. I even leave my clean clothes in the laundry room longer just to go a bit longer without seeing them and thus wearing them. I went through some old pictures with this post as motivation and you can see how I remixed a few things. The pictures are scattered through this post.  You will notice that even some identical outfits repeat.
March 2010 - Present
4. Do you have a clothing budget or are you an impulse buyer?
I do not have a clothing budget and I am not an impulse buyer.  I need an option about being encouraged by my husband to buy new clothes. I analyze in the store. I won't buy anything unless I love it. Some days I go to the mall with the intent to buy some new things and I'm not even specific in what I'm looking for and I leave empty handed.
February 2007 - Present (not all photos)
5. Do you find yourself bored when reading a blog in which clothing items are often remixed and appear frequently?
I wish everyone would show how they remix the same article of clothing close together so I wouldn't be bored with it.  Before buying a new trendy item, I'd like to see how versatile it'll be.  The more a blogger repeats, the more I appreciate them. I keep wanting to do posts on how I remixed a certain outfit, but that keeps staying on my to-do list and I never seem to get to it. I have done it a few times though.

A Day's Worth of Twitter

Pants and Shirt: Express (both old)
Shoes: Famous Footwear
I woke up and did some stuff on my computer.  I updated my weight graph data and put a few graphs on my site. I also updated Dave's graph. I realized I should eat breakfast before I go run because I was feeling a little lightheaded.

I went to run with Jen (a different Jen than the normal Jen I run with).  We ran a little later so we didn't have to run in the rain.  This is Jen's 2nd time running with me and 2nd time running in more than 15 years.  We did 2.5 miles.  I'm getting her to run a 5k in 8 weeks so we have to get her to running more.  We had a few walk breaks but I still think it is pretty good.  Last time I ran with her, I had a dream after that we ran a 5k together and she beat me.

After the run I came home and finally sewed the button on a shirt. It has been sitting on my desk for me to sew for 6 or so months. Then I sewed one of Dave's button holes so the button won't always pop out. I felt so productive.
Then we went to lunch with Chad and Jen. We went to Campecino's then Yum.  Dave and I went to Giant Eagle after that.  We were still in the vegetable section when I started to feel a little weird.  An aisle later I started to feel clammy.  About 8 aisles later I was having Dave give me a little push to get started moving the cart and sometimes I'd pretend to be looking at things on the bottom shelf for a rest.  Near the end I went and found a bench and Dave finished shopping. Some how I got lightheaded.
After we got home, I ended up napping for an hour.
Then I went to the mall and bought lots of things.

On my way home at 9:10 PM, I realized I hadn't eaten dinner.  I got home and tried on all my new clothes for Dave and forced him to take pictures of me in everything new.   Then I updated my clothes inventory spreadsheet. It hasn't been updated since October.  I blogged about almost all my purchases so I will have to go back and fill it out.

I went in to bed at 11:15 PM but realized I hadn't blogged for the day so I got back up and posted a post I knew I had written but just had to insert pictures.  Then I typed a few more blog posts and at 11:45 I got to typing this post and when I got to the dinner portion of the post I realized I had not eaten dinner yet. Oh boy. I did have a jelly bean and 3 bites of leftover pizza.  Now I'm debating if I should go downstairs and eat something since I will be running in the morning.

All day I kept feeling skinny. My pants were too loose. I was also feeling lightheaded. I bet there was a correlation. My weight was also lower today than the past few days. These are all correlated.  I told myself in the morning that I should know I'll be getting lightheaded throughout the day on the days my weight is down in the morning. It always happens but I never prepare myself for it.

A Day's Worth of Twitter

10:50:49 PM - Ran 2 miles today and forgot to look at my data or garmin. What is the world coming to?
10:53:56 PM - @mikecherepko I can't think of a time you were influential about weddings.

I hit snooze yet again for another hour. I'm just too exhausted.
I was insanely busy again at work. I was having difficulty thinking again. I'm still drained. I need relax time. I think even more than just an evening.

I thought I'd leave early to relax but then I ended up staying late.  I was going to go to the gym after work but I felt like skipping so I did. I definitely should have lifted weights.  Oh well.

I got home and ate dinner and watched TV.  Then I watched more TV. I just needed more time to just sit there.  Then I used the exercise bike, did a core workout, then stretched for 10 minutes.   I cleaned up a bit in the bedroom and organized my closet a little while watching Biggest Loser.  I had moer to do but then got lazy and just sat on the bed to watch the rest of the show.

5 Runs, 3/21-3/25

I got busy so instead of a separate post for each run here is 1 post for all runs during the week.  I didn't run Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday because I was sore and busy.

Wednesday, I ran with Dave. It wasn't much of a run for me but progress for him. We ran the straight aways and walked the curves. I couldn't even get a good iphone picture because he was moving too fast.

Thursday, I was too busy to workout.

Friday, I met Jen after work to run a short 2.5 miles. We didn't run our normal run for a variety of reasons but one was the heat and the second was I was meeting Dave after to walk to loop with him.  It was so hot when we ran. We were dying. I couldn't believe how awful the sun was. We went at the worst time of day or something.
As soon as we were done running, I started my run with Dave. We were on our way but he was still sore from our run Wednesday so wasn't wasn't so fun for him. Walking weird because of his hamstring ended up making his back hurt.  At 1.75 miles when he started complaining I said we should turn around.  He said no.  Then around 2.33 miles we stopped walking and sat in the grass. There were no benches. We tried to find a bench but walked half a mile and there were none.  After we got up from the grass, he told me I should run to the car and come back and get him.  So that's what I did.  By this point it felt a lot cooler. It was just as hot but the sun wasn't beating down on me. The run was much easier by this point and I was even more tired.
I told Dave he sure knows how to pick a spot for me to have to run to the car. It was 2 miles one direction and 2.5 the other way. Or if I didn't cut off the one cutoff it was 2.5 in either direction.   My goal on my way back to the car after .5 was 2:20 for each quarter mile or 9:20 pace. I beat that.
Dave's stats
Saturday, I ran with Jen (a different Jen than Thursday).  It was Jen's 2nd time running in 15 years.  Her first time running was in July at 5pm when it was 85 degrees.  She said this time was a lot easier.  We walked the last lap which made our time a lot slower. We walked our entire 8th lap too I think.  She said I could go do a lap without her but I knew I ran a lot the day before and was running the next day so I didn't do it. Plus then I said she wouldn't have data from the run.

Dave walked while we ran.  Dave said he came up with a new way to walk faster and he wasn't kidding. I have no idea what he did before or what he does now but that's a pretty fast walking pace for him.
Sunday, I ran with Jen, Jen, Mandy, and Ibrahim.  We went to the Southside and did a trail down there.  We walked the first .25 then ran entirely until 3.5ish when we had to turn around. Then we did 4:1. At the next point when I had to turn around it was 6.75. Ibrahim and I turned around. We were both in a hurry. We only did 8 miles. Everyone else did more. Jen did the most with doing 10 miles. At first I forgot I was in a hurry. I thought I'd have plenty of time but I forgot that we started over 20 minutes late and that my plan was to run 6 miles instead of 8.  I made us get a group picture before we ran. The camera ended up tilted when I pushed the button so I'm partially cut off.  Sarah didn't go to run. Ibrahim said her foot is bothering her and commented she hurt it during my 50k. He was joking but she might have hurt it then!

At the end of the run Ibrahim and I had 2:03 and 2:06 splits. The one before that was a little longer because we got up a ramp and there was a fence. He decided to jump it but I went back around.  Even with speeding up, I still cut it entirely too close getting home and getting my shower before heading out.

The weather was perfect.  The trail was nice along the river too.  I didn't even mess up driving there.
That's a total of 16.48. Not bad for feeling like it was a rest week besides Sunday.

A Day's Worth of Twitter

07:31:31 PM - It is too cold outside. I forgot how to dress for exercise outside after a warm few weeks. Wind chill 32 and no hat or scarf
10:38:44 PM - not plugging in my laptop to force me to only work so little isn't working. I'm about to go get my power cord.

Shopping - Skinny, colorful jeans

I went to the mall myself on Saturday. I bought 12 new things. Three of the things are pretty shocking to me.

What types of shoes do you wear with skinny jeans?  If you've worn some and have some pictures, link me to them in the comments. I want some more ideas. I think heels are better than flats but there are many types of heels.

I often update my excel file for my clothes inventory. I hid a few columns for the display here. I hid  the date, what store, and location. I bought these all at Forever 21 at Ross Park Mall on 3/24. When I buy clothes anywhere else the Details and original price is filled out because nothing is full price, but at Forever 21 everything is so inexpensive and not really on sale that I don't have anything to put there.

I didn't even know the hoodie was on sale. I bought that to replace my old hoodie that I had to throw away because the arm at the elbow wore out.

The blue shirt is labeled as a tunic on the tag so it is labeled as a tunic above.  I thought the orange shirt might go with the yellow pants and the scarf but Dave wouldn't let me mix and match outfits to show him my new clothes. I'm not actually sure if it'd go.

I'm most scared of the yellow pants.  All the skinny jeans are out of my comfort zone. I don't own any pairs of skinny jeans and never have.  I ended up with yellow because the other 2 colors were out of my size.  I liked both other colors better. They were less wild.

I bought 4 tank tops that are all shown above but I mainly just wear those around the house or to exercise.  I had to take pictures in combinations with new things though which is why they are all modeled.

The skirt is actually meant to be a little shorter but I pulled it down more on my hips to make it go to my knee.

All in all I spent $96.

The jeans are meant for people with waist and butt measurements more similar.  I have a lot of inches extra in the waistband. The jeans are a little big in the hips/butt too.  I needed to size up for the calves.  But even trying on normal jeans there, they are meant more for juniors than for me.

I took pictures of the pants in the dressing room and texted my brother to get his opinion.
