Miles 8 Month Update

Well we don't have our house stuff yet so I don't have my sticker, normal chair, or the polar bear stuffed animal. I don't have my normal scale either.

Stats:
  • Weight: 20.9 lb  - 81st percentile  (This is the average of 2 scales where I held Miles and weighed the both of us then weighed myself separately. This is shockingly the same percentile as last time too.)
  • Height: 29.7" - 98.6th percentile
  • Head Circumference: 46.2 cm - 91st percentile
  • Weight/Length Percentile: 44%
  • Diapers: Size 3
  • Clothing: Mostly 9 month clothing. He also wears 12 month onesies sometimes. Most of his pants are too short but I still have him in them even the 12 month pants.
  • Shoe Size: N/A
  • Teeth: 4  (I noticed 2 top teeth the other day.)
(stats using WHO)
The stats were taken a day late again because I forgot. I even forgot after reading my post last time how I forgot to take those stats!
Sleep
Sleeping has been a joke. We were on a road trip for 3 weeks of the month and at my parents the other week.  His bedtime was late. He'd wake up a lot in the night. He'd nap well in the car.

At my parents this past week, he got into more of a routine and he'd go to sleep around 8 and wake up around 9 for the day. He'd wake up twice in the might. He's only been taking 1 nap. It's been pretty long.

Eating
He nurses a lot less. He will nurse for about 4 minutes at most nursing sessions. Before bed and the middle of the night are longer. Now that we aren't traveling sometimes I nurse longer the time before nap to get him to nap. He eats so much food. He has gotten so much better at chewing too.
He easily goes 3 hours between nursing sessions but sometimes 5.  He eats at least 3 meals a day. At a meal he will eat a 4 oz baby food + other food. Or just real food.

Sample Schedule:
With traveling, I don't even want to give this.  When we were in the car a lot, he'd nap twice.  In the past week he naps one time.

Special Moments:
On April 12, I said I was going to the car and Miles said Mama. Divya was impressed. He started rolling many times in a row (finally).
On April 13, he had his first donut. We started our road trip!
On April 14, he was nursing in the Ergo on the pier at Santa Cruz. He had his first successful high chair eating at a restaurant.
On April 16, his eyes were crusted shut from allergies.
On April 17, in the middle of the night, Miles had a fever. I spent a half hour looking for the Tylenol and syringe in the car.  Cold compresses and being outside in chilly weather helped his fever break.
On April 20, he rolled over in the crib swaddled.
On April 21, he spit up on me then moments later rolled off the bed.
On April 24, he started liking sleeping on his side.
On April 25, he was lying on his stomach whining when I got him in his crib.
On April 29, he was screaming on his stomach in his crib. He tumbled off the hotel bed.  This was his first night with a 1 arm swaddle.
On April 30, the 1 arm swaddle meant that he wouldn't go back down at 5 am.
On May 1, Miles clapped for the first time.
On May 2, he went from lying leaning on a pillow to sitting up.
On May 4, we finished our road trip!
On May 5, Miles went into the crib awake to go to sleep.
On May 6, he started rolling around to get to stuff.
On May 7, he had a peanut butter sandwich.
On May 8, I noticed 2 new teeth on top.
On May 10, I said I was going to go and Miles reach over and grabbed my leg.  He pulled on my arms a few times to go from sitting to standing and then was so proud of himself.

Development:
He sits and plays for about an hour pretty often.  He actually drinks out of a sippy cup pretty well now. Miles rolls over a lot.  He tries to crawl but isn't there yet. He likes to be held a little to stand.  He uses his arms to pull up to standing.  He's been giving high five for awhile and gets a little better. Sometimes he still grabs a finger instead of an actual high five but he lifts his hand up to the other hand right away.

Communication:
Words Miles consistently says with meaning are Mama, Ella, and hi. He likes to babble a lot.

Other Tidbits:
Likes
He likes to be the weights in bench pressing and overhead extensions (while lying down).
He likes me around. He doesn't like Dave to hold him while I leave the room for any reason.
He likes to be kissed.
He likes to eat!
He likes to talk or coo all the time.
He likes to watch TV.
He likes Ella!
He likes to help give himself Benadryl and even suck the medicine out of the dropper.
He likes to be swaddled while sleeping. --too bad this had to change.

Dislikes
He doesn't like being itchy!
He doesn't like when we put the scratching sleeves on him.

Other Tidbits
I don't have him taking Benadryl 24/7 anymore. I probably give it 2 times a day now instead of 4.  He's getting a lot more hair now. Miles was a real trooper on the road trip. With being on the road for 21 days there were probably only 3 times where he was crying in the car for like an hour. He was mostly good or fussed for a few minutes at a time. He stayed in 19 different hotels! Miles seems to be at the stage where he only wants me. He will be freak out crying and someone else will pick him up and he's not calmed at all but then as soon as I pick him up he stops crying right away.

My Recovery
I probably weighed myself 1 time all month and I was wearing clothes and shoes and a hoodie. Oh and I was on a different scale too. That scale had me weigh 2.5 lbs higher than last time I weighed myself. My knee was pretty good while we were on the road. Then at my parents, I do a lot of stairs and don't do a lot of knee exercises so my knee is getting worse each day. I haven't run all month.

As always I feel like I forgot to include so much. I feel like this month was even worse than normal. If I talked to you in the past month about something I didn't include, let me know so I can add it.

  1. Are you guys getting settled into your new house yet? I want to see pics! Miles is growing up so fast. I can't believe he's 8 months already. You'll be having his first birthday party before you know it!

    1. We close on the new house in less than a week but then it's another week after that before they deliver our house belongings so it'll be a bit before we get settled.

I randomly think k where did the time go. I have no idea how he's 8 months old. I feel like I missed so much of it. It flew by.
