9 Weeks (May)

I'll start with something that isn't the normal items.  We had our first doctor appointment and had an ultrasound. The baby measures 1.96 cm at 8 weeks 4 days. (I think my guess was 8 weeks 5 days.)  The baby kept moving so I don't know how they say the measurement is so accurate for due date.
So sometimes I accidentally take my weekly picture after I eat. Having a meal in me really makes a different with how big I look.

Size of baby: cherry, 1 inch (2.5 cm)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I don't have a weight for the correct day. I have the day before which would lead to a 5.9 lb loss or I have a weight from the day after which is only a 5.4 lb loss or I could average the 2 but I don't like the average one since I fluctuate differently day to day and it's never an even increase or decrease over time.  No matter how you try to fake the data, I still lost more weight. Instead of just picking a point and adding it, I decided to elaborate so you know what the data really is.

Maternity Clothes: No and my normal clothes fit better than they have been. I wish they weren't. I keep eating to try to stop losing weight.

Movement: I don't feel any but on the ultrasound I saw some.

Sleep: I'm more tired and I'm waking up more in the night. I'm also sleeping longer. I'm more exhausted. My sleep efficiency isn't as good according to my BodyMedia fit.  I keep going to sleep earlier and earlier but I'm  also waking up at 6:30 AM for no reason.

What I miss: Working out without getting lightheaded or working out in general. Sitting around without getting lightheaded.

Cravings: Nothing yet.

Aversions: Eating in general. I still force myself to but it sucks.

Symptoms: Nothing new.  The main one now is lightheadedness. The rest are milder than they were.
Already mentioned but still going on: Thirstier, sense of smell, lightheaded, nauseous.

Best moment this week: The ultrasound

Looking forward to: Actually telling people. My next doctor appointment on June 19.

Exercise: I haven't worked out in a month. I hate feeling lightheaded all the time.

Thinking

Sometimes I think back about milestones in my life. I'm still a little shocked I quit working at Westinghouse to move to California. I was super stressed from working there but quitting in this economy was super stressful. Quitting while still owning a house so going from 2 incomes and 1 house payment a month to 2 payments and 1 income was just hard.  I didn't ask about telecommuting at all. I didn't think my position would really do that or didn't ask about transferring to the San Jose office. I briefly looked into it but the job was also really stressful so I just thought I'd be done with it.  But then as time went on and I applied to a ton of jobs and never got any offers I started to really regret how i left things.  Also a friend moved and did telecommuting for a year. That would have been nice. Too bad her position would work for that and mine would not.  I was way underpaid for what I was doing too (based on what other people's positions were doing my job not just based on the thought that I deserved more).

Now after not working a year, I still think about the decisions.  I probably wouldn't have done things differently. I still wish I could meet more people around here. If I had a job, I'd meet more people. That's a tough thing.  I don't seem to ever meet people besides at work.

Now that it's been a little over 6 months since we sold our house, money isn't as stressful. I'm still not randomly buying things like we used to and am really thinking about purchases. I realize I need much less than I thought. i also realize I still have too much junk.

Just thought I'd share my random thoughts about moving. I have other random thoughts going through my head at any given time.

8 Weeks (May)

You know it is very hard to get an exact side profile picture. Especially with the angled hallways outside my apartment.

Size of baby: raspberry, 1/2 inch (12.7 mm)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 4.2 lb loss overall.  I lost an additional 1.2 lbs over the last week.  I must just post my weight graph one of these weeks.

Maternity Clothes: No and my normal clothes fit better than they have been. I wish they weren't. It's the stupid nausea.

Sleep: I'm more tired and I'm waking up more in the night. I'm also sleeping longer. I'm more exhausted. My sleep efficiency isn't as good according to my BodyMedia fit.

What I miss: Working out without getting lightheaded or working out in general. Sitting around without getting lightheaded. Not being nauseous.

Cravings: Nothing yet.

Aversions: Eating in general. I still force myself to but it sucks.

Symptoms: Nothing new
Already mentioned but still going on: Thirstier, sense of smell, lightheaded, nauseous.

Best moment this week: Not sure. Nothing crazy happened.

Looking forward to: Actually telling people. My doctor appointment on May 22.

Exercise: Running, biking, weights. I've done a lot less since I've been lightheaded.

7 Weeks (May)

I want to tell everyone about how I'm pregnant but worry that something will go wrong so I'm not saying anything yet. It's surprisingly hard to not blurt it out to every person I see. I took the picture early since my parents were visiting and taking it early was when they were at google so it was easier to take it in peace.

How many weeks: 7

Size of baby: blueberry (8 mm or 4.2-5.1 mm depending on what source you look at)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 3.0 lb loss! I lost 2.3 lbs in 1 week it seems.

Maternity Clothes: Definitely not yet but all my normal clothes have had trouble fitting for the past 6 months or so. Pretty soon I can at least blame that on something instead of just getting fat. Some clothes that I was wearing are getting more uncomfortable.

Sleep: I'm more tired and I'm waking up more in the night. I'm also sleeping longer. I go to sleep way earlier and wake up way earlier, too.

What I miss: Working out without getting lightheaded or working out in general

Cravings: Nothing yet.

Aversions: Nothing yet. Maybe eating in general.

Symptoms: I'm nauseous a lot. I forgot to mention that before but it's been going on a few weeks.
Already mentioned but still going on: Thirstier, sense of smell, lightheaded.

Best moment this week: Not sure. Nothing crazy happened.

Looking forward to: Actually telling people. My doctor appointment on May 22.

Exercise: Running, biking, weights. I've done a lot less since I've been lightheaded.

Card Party

I had a Stampin' Up card class last week. We made 3 cards.
This stamp set was Computer Quips and it retired in back in 2007. I've had it a long time. I refused to get rid of it. Nerdy stamps are hard to come by.
This stamp set is just as old. I've had it for so long and the last time i used it was August 2007. It is called Stay Tuned. When I made this card in 2007, I used a printed picture to have inside the TV but this time, I didn't have a printer hooked up so I just put the greeting in the TV set. The patterned paper is from Big Lots about 10 years ago.
During SAB, I ordered Swallowtail. It is my favorite set. I want to use it all the time. My customers are probably going to get sick of it. The butterfly is stamped in Rich Razzleberry even though it almost looks black in the picture. I should have had better lighting for these pictures. The pictures don't really do any of them justice.

There were only a few of us at this party so we were able to use an exacto knife and not take up all kinds of time waiting. Smaller parties are less stressful but almost as much time goes into planning a 10 person party as it does a 3 person party unless cutting supplies is very time consuming.

I guess it's time to start sending some cards instead of hoarding them all.

Which card is your favorite?

6 Weeks (May)

The first 2 pictures are ones I had from before that showed my gut. They are from before I was pregnant. I put them on so everyone realized I had a little gut so it's not really that I'm showing early.

How many weeks: 6

Size of baby: 1/4 inch, Lentil

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 0.7 lb loss overall. I also lost .4 from Week 5 to Week 6.

Sleep: I have no idea. I think I'm more tired than I used to be.

What I miss: Working out without getting lightheaded.

Cravings: Nothing yet.

Aversions: Nothing yet. Maybe eating in general.

Symptoms: I'm dizzy or lightheaded almost all the time. Well maybe not when I'm sitting but as soon as I go to move. Already mentioned but still going on: Thirstier, sense of smell.

Best moment this week: Not sure. Nothing crazy happened.

Looking forward to: Actually telling people. My doctor appointment on May 22.

Exercise: Running, biking, weights. I've done a lot less since I've been lightheaded.

6.18

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so can I have this post with very few words?
Skirt: F21, Shoes: Famous Footwear, Necklace: Charlotte Russe,
Shirt: Express (lost for a year and it was my favorite shirt)
Poly cuddles with me in bed.
In the morning as Dave was getting ready to leave he comes back in to put the garage door opener back and Poly found him. He called me so I came to the office to get a picture.
I had leftover chicken for lunch. It was good that I had more instead of other sides.
Poly thought the best place to be as I was planning for a stampin' up party was to plop on my keyboard.
I sort of got pictures of her climbing the "stairs" to get to the window.
We went to the Counter for dinner. It was good. I wanted more fries. I also really like the BBQ sauce. I put it all over my burger. I also dipped my fries in it.

5 Weeks (April)

I started taking weekly photos. I took over 60 in 2 different outfits. It's quite difficult to get an exact side profile when all the walls and hallways are angled. Even though I am not showing, I wanted a good shot not to try to create a better comparison later.
How many weeks: 5

Size of baby: Sesame Seed, 2 mm

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 0.3 lb loss.

Maternity Clothes: Definitely not yet but all my normal clothes have had trouble fitting for the past 6 months or so. Pretty soon I can at least blame that on something instead of just getting fat.

Sleep: I have no idea. I think I'm more tired than I used to be.

What I miss: Working out without getting lightheaded.

Cravings: Nothing yet.

Aversions: Nothing yet.

Symptoms: I'm thirsty a lot more than I used to be. I guess that can be a symptom. It helps me drink more than the couple oz that I'm used to. Now I drink a few glasses a day of water + other drinks. I believe my sense of smell is better.

Best moment this week: Making my first doctor appointment

Looking forward to: Actually telling people. My doctor appointment on May 22.

Exercise: Running, biking, weights.

I spent all week trying to figure out what outfit to wear for weekly updates.

6.19

Pants & top = F21, Shoes: Famous Footwear, Necklace: Lia Sophia.
I woke around 7:30 when Dave woke up. He had commented that I'm usually already awake. I started using my laptop and Poly decided to get comfortable on me. I couldn't actually see my screen but I just kept replying to an email. Finally when she got up I hurried to the bathroom before she returned.  As soon as I was done, I remembered I was supposed to pee in a cup.  Then I started drinking lots of juice and water. Minutes before I had to leave for my appointment, I was able to finally pee again.  I peed about 2 oz but drank over 40 oz.
My doctor appointment was at 10:10. She was actually on-time this time. She complimented my jeans too.
After the appointment, I went to google with Dave and ate lunch. I ate for a solid hour.
After I got home I went to take my daily picture and Poly sure didn't want me to leave her. She tried to get me to pay attention to her. Then I took my picture and she watched from the window. I came inside and loaded the pictures and they all sucked so I went out to take more and she watched again.

I got home and used the computer. I was exhausted. I mainly replied to emails and before I knew it, it was 3:30 and I had a few things to do. I decided to watch some TV and that was the first time Poly stopped being annoying. She slept on the chair. I think she likes all the junk on the chair.  I didn't even finish an episode but did like the little break. Then I called into a google hangout for Dev Bootcamp and that lasted until 5:45.
Dave and I found the pieces for my desk and put it together.  Then Dave cooked dinner. (I hated it so then I had leftover ribs and a leftover hot dog.  Dinner was this velvetta thing that has ground meeting and mac n cheese but it sure was gross.) We ate and then finished setting up the computer.

I finally have 2 monitors again and a little bit of table space. I spent all evening on my computer. I should have been coding but I was playing with pictures.

4 Weeks (April)

I got a positive home pregnancy test at 4 weeks and 1 day but it was a faint line so I took another test at 4 weeks at 2 days. (I think that's my 4th week versus 5th week but I don't really know. My weeks may all be off) I took a picture of the test and texted it to Dave. I was a little disappointed that he was busy at work so it took him a couple hours to respond. It might have been a little more fun to have him here to see my excitement. I honestly wasn't expecting a positive test because I hadn't had positive tests in the past even if I was a couple days late.

How many weeks: 4

Size of baby: Poppy Seed

Total Weight Gain/Loss: down 1.9 lb  I weigh myself daily. Trying to figure out what to use as the baseline weight was trickier. The baseline weight I'm using is 136.5. I think that's what I should use based on what I remember a friend saying. I was hovering 134-135 for a few weeks earlier but I popped back up for what should be the start of the weight.

Maternity Clothes: Definitely not yet but all my normal clothes have had trouble fitting for the past 6 months or so. Pretty soon I can at least blame that on something instead of just getting fat.

Gender: Not yet

Movement: Not yet

Sleep: I have no idea. What would have been week 3, I stayed up until 5 am, 6am, and 4am just because. I have no real reason to go to sleep or wake up early since I don't work so this is a tough one. But Thursday night still in week 3), I slept 10 or so hours and slept until 1 PM.

What I miss:  pepperoni on my salads. But I might not even have missed that if we didn't go to Trader Joe's to buy some stuff for salads and I didn't put any on mine.

Cravings: Nothing yet.

Aversions: Nothing yet.

Symptoms: Nothing yet.

Best moment this week: The positive pregnancy test

Looking forward to: Actually telling people.

Exercise: The same as I had been doing. I actually ran less (way less) because of my plantar fasciitis. Running, biking, and weights.

I know a lot of people do these types of weekly updates while pregnant and I'm not sure of the official way to count or post but I will be attempting to write them on the last day of the week mentioned.  I already take a daily picture (but the old site is down and my newer one isn't really up to date) but I am trying to decide if I should find the same thing to wear in every picture like Merrick did or just post a daily picture from the side in any outfit like Jen did.

OK I Decided that my posts will be for the beginning of the week versus the end.

(That picture is from my daily picture the day I found out. I sure look happy.)

This is the first of my weekly posts. I wrote these as the weeks happened but didn't post them until I was further along.

5.15

I woke up surprisingly early but then played Solitaire in bed. Dave sent me the link to the Google I/O conference thing so then I watched that for hours. For some of the time I went to my main computer and did other stuff.   Around 12:30 I went to the TV and ate lunch and watched TV. I watched Restaurant Stakeout all day until Dave got home, which was around 7:30.

He got me Taco Bell for dinner while he got Slice of New York Pizza. He asked for mild sauce and the lady gave me about 15 little packets.  We watched more TV until I fell asleep on the couch around 10.

You should be impressed I narrowed down more than 60 pictures to 10.

6.11: Cable

I slept in until 8:30 when Dave woke me up. I was having such a fun dream. In the dream I was coding some program with Dave and then it was my turn to code alone and make it better.  I can't remember what it was even about but it sure felt fun.

I got up and got some juice and sat in bed and checked my email on my phone for a bit.  Around 9:30 I started unpacking.  I sat at the table to write some stuff down and drink juice and Poly hopped up and got comfortable on me so I was forced to stay there for a little bit.
When I got up, I moved Poly. I sat her on the chair and told her she could sit there. She was still there at least 5 minutes later.
I would send my mom and Dave messages on google hangout.  The cable guy was supposed to come between 10 and 12.   Finally at 12:35 Dave sends me a message that he had a voice mail about the cable guy running late and he'd show up between 12:30 and 1 now.  I was on the phone with my mom at this time and eating lunch since it was already partially in the window, I stopped eating and put my food away.  Poly enjoys looking out various windows and I enjoy taking pictures of her looking out the windows.
He finally showed up at 1:34.  I was stressed because Dave has little requirements about things. Also he was wiring and drilling cable wires on the outside of the house. I was quite confused.  Also I had trouble understanding this guy's English.  I asked Dave to come home. Finally he did. I sure am glad. He even had to explain his requirements to the cable guy a few times.   So we have to rent a modem instead of using our own now because apparently if we would call 911, they would dispatch to our old address. That sucks.

After about an hour and a half the cable guy leaves. He says you just open a computer and activate. Well that didn't work so Dave had to call back.  After another hour, we finally had internet.  Then Dave went back to work. It sure was convenient that he was only a 10 minute bike ride away.

While the cable guy was here, Poly hid. She seemed scared. But then once Dave got home, she came out of hiding.  I guess I am not a protector for her.

I'm so annoyed with Comcast. They stress me out. I used to think it was calling or talking to them on their chat but dealing with a guy in person sucks too.
Once I had internet, I wasted time on it. After Dave got home from work Sachi visited for about a half hour. Then Dave and I headed to BJs to use our buy an entree get an entree. Their spaghetti and meatballs are so good.

After we got home, I said I needed a rest so then we watched Game of Thrones. Then Dave set up Shady (our main computer that records TV shows and the internet runs through it).  I helped him and handed him things when he needed it and also unpacked a few boxes around the house.   Then we sat in the living room and used our computers but man was I tired. I stayed out there until Dave was ready for bed even though I was exhausted.  It was probably only 10:30 but I guess unpacking all day really tired me out.

Announcement

I will have weekly posts start posting in a few days. I'm due December 28.

6.1 - Keys

Shoes: Famous Footwear, Shorts: American Eagle, Shirt: Kohl's
I woke up at 7:30.
I stayed in bed until 10. I played soliatire.  Then I had to hurry and get dressed.
We met our new landlord at our new place a little and got the keys. He only gave us 1 set so we need to make another set.  Once the landlord left Dave wanted to go for a practice bike ride so I chilled in the house. After a few minutes, I decided to do a walk through and record it. I started with an inside tour then did an outside one. I tried to upload them to youtube but the inside one failed.   Dave finally got back from his bike ride and looked dead. It was 80 degrees (or more) outside. He said he took a bike ride to google. He wished we had some glasses or something to drink.   After he removed the bike rack, we left. (Perhaps in another post I'll include the videos. For now here's a few few pictures of some rooms.)
We went to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch. I like it there. We always forget our coupons at home but this time we asked if they could honor one from our phone and they did. Good to know.  I didn't eat so much I wanted to throw up which is good. Usually I overeat at buffets.
After we got home, I took about a 2 hour nap.  I played some Solitaire. Then I started to use my computer.

Around 5, I ate my BJ's leftovers.

Dave and I packed a little. We also watched some TV.

Dev Bootcamp

A few months ago I applied to Dev Bootcamp. Then I interviewed and within a day learned I got in. (During my interview I asked what percent make it and was told 20-22%.) The first available time slot was July 15 so that’s when I’ll be starting.  A few weeks ago, I got the material to start all the prep work.  I've started it but haven't finished.  I have 2 months to complete it.

According to their website:
DEV BOOTCAMP is an apprenticeship on steroids. You learned to ride a bike by getting on the bike, right? Same here. We focus on hands-on learning over old-school lectures. From day one, you’ll dig in and start coding. It’s the only way to learn.
I have 4 tasks left, 2 of which are mandatory, out of a total of 15 tasks. Some tasks are time consuming and take 10+ hours while other ones are quick like creating a Hacker News account.

I have been posting a tiny bit about things I've learned as I've gone along on my Google+ page

So I start July 15 and it goes for 9 weeks. That puts class going until September 13.  I've heard from other people that there are 3 more weeks after that are optional. That would go until October 4. I will have a busy few months.

Every 3 weeks is a new phase and I heard they give you quizzes at the end of each phase and you can be kicked out if you aren't performing. I didn't read that on an official site yet so I'm not sure of the details.

I will be putting in 80-100 hours a week. On the faq page is says over the 9 weeks that leaves 500 hours to do whatever we want and they recommend sleep. If you do the math over 500 hours comes out to less than 8 hours of free time a day.... and I like to sleep for 8 hours so that could be problem.

Another thing is I won't be living right by campus so I have to commute.  I will be taking the Caltrain and then the bus. I will either drive or ride my bike to the train station. My commute will be about an hour and a half each way. If I drove, I'd have to deal with parking and also have to drive, but my commute would take less time.  This way I'll have almost an hour on the train to be productive in some way. I would count sleep as being productive.  Sometime between now and July 15, Dave and I are going to do a practice run using the trains and bus and trying to arrive on-time so I'm not as stressed out my first day.

Here's something else from the faq page.

Can I commit to anything else during the same time? Don't even think about committing to anything else. If you have a job, quit or take time off. If you're in a relationship, send them a variation of our personal apology letter. Dear boss/friends/family, I'm training at Dev Bootcamp for the next 9 weeks, learning to be like Neo. See you on the other side. I love you and I'm sorry.
So I won't be having daily posts on here during that time. Granted I've been having so many issues lately that I haven't been having daily posts anyway.

This is an exciting experience but also stressful for me. I'm enjoying all the prep work and all the coding. But I have also enjoyed my leisure time for the past year.

The other day I made a program that would rename my picture files in a folder. I spent some time making it better even though I wasn't required to for the course. I just liked it so much. Dave can't believe I've actually used it but I have on multiple occassions.

5.6

VS Yoga pants. AE shirt
I cleaned up a bit for my parents visit. I should have cleaned up more but instead I talked on the phone to my mom and watched TV. I did push some boxes from the floor into the closet (top and bottom picture on the right show the progress).
For lunch I had potato chips and thawed out stuffed pepper soup. Man that soup was good. I forgot how good it was. I think it was tastier now when I didn't spend all the time cooking it.  I took the container out of the freezer the other day and then had it thaw in the fridge. I heated it up on the stove. I added some water because it seems it gets extra thick after I freeze it.
I cooked dinner too.  I didn't want to cook. I think I'd rather clean than cook.

5.19 - Dead Computer

I woke up to my alarm going off at 8:30. I went back to sleep though. I actually woke up at 8:50 when my next alarm went off. My dream between 8:30 and 8:50 was entirely me doing tons of dishes at my gram's house. This wasn't really my gram's house or any house I'm familiar with. But man was it so many dishes and boy did it suck. In the dream I remember doing it to be nice and I didn't even have to but boy did I hate it.

I played Solitaire in bed for a bit then went to my desktop. Gmail wouldn't work to check but all other internet things worked. It was so confusing. I had a banana for breakfast while still trying to figure out why gmail wouldn't work. It would work here and there and I'd type an email and then it'd stop working.
Dave cooked chicken on the grill for lunch. It was a late lunch because he kept procrastinating getting more propane.  Man was the chicken good. We watched some TV. The Office recap thing was good but I'm glad we watched it after the last episode even though they aired it first. It would have ruined things in the ending. We watched some other TV shows then it was back to my computer.
We did a google+ hangout with Dave's mom for the first time. Our internet was awful so it wasn't showing video but was showing some still pictures for her. We switched to Dave's phone and used LTE instead of internet and then she could see us.
Gmail was giving me issues again. I even tried to mess with it during the google+ hangout. After we were done with Dave's mom, he decided to help. He checked settings did this or that. Rebooted. Everything worked but gmail or google related things (like picasa). It was so confusing. He couldn't figure it out. Then after another reboot it wouldn't boot back up. It won't boot at all now. It's a dead computer. Man am I sad. Dave thinks it's the motherboard. My harddrives with all my pictures should still work but I'm still stressed. I've been trying to upload collages to picasa / google+ that I already made and they never got uploaded. It has made blogging extremely difficult.

Dave made a user on his computer for me and I did load pictures from my memory card from the past few days but my blog is so far behind that I want to load more. Dave gave me some lip about that because it's his computer for now.

I can't believe how many computer issues we've had in a week. I got a new chromebook days ago because of my macbook air and the issues it's having. It's not 100% dead though. The computer we use to record TV had a hard drive die on Tuesday.

Finally around 8, Dave was ready for dinner even though I was hungry since 6.  He got me Taco Bell but because the entire time he was gone I ate grapes I only ate half my Taco Bell. Dave got Slice of NY since I don't like their pizza. Well their pizza is tasty but hurts my jaw so I can't even make it through a slice without pain.  We watched Undercover Boss. I really wish going undercover made them make a change across the board instead of just giving the people money that they happened to go undercover with.

After TV, Dave went to working on his computer to insteal my hard drive so I can get my files.
