Half Marathon Training Week 12

So according to plans I could
  • lift once, 4 mi, 3 mi, 2 mi,  and 13.1 mi race
  • lift once, 4 mi, 3 mi, 30 min tempo,  and 13.1 mi race
  • 3 mi, 2 mi, 3 mi pace, and 13.1 mi race
  • 3 mi, 3 mi, 4 mi (2 x 1600 at 8:15), and 13.1 mi race (8:56 pace 1:57:10)
Here's what I did.

Monday: Rest. I did burpees.

Tuesday: Rest. I did burpees.

Wednesday: Rest. I did burpees

Thursday: I ran a rough ~3 miles myself. I didn't even push Ella. If I ran faster than a 10 min pace my stomach hurt. (I used approximate above because my Garmin said 3.02 and mapmyrun said 3.21 miles.) I also did burpees.

Friday:  Rest day (I did 45 burpees!)

Saturday: I ran the race! It was a half marathon but my garmin said 13.24 mi.  (Race recap to be posted later)

Sunday:  Rest

Total Running Mileage: 16.35
Total other things: 5 burpee activities

Summary: I barely ran. I barely did anything. This was a bad 3 week lead up to a race! Very bad. My hips are so sore.

Now I have to figure out what comes next. I am thinking a marathon but it's in 6 weeks!

Week 11 of Half Marathon Training

October 12-18
So according to plans I could
  • lift twice, 5 mi, 3 mi, 5 mi, 60 min cross, 10 mi
  • lift twice, 5 mi, 3 mi, 10 x 400 5k pace, 3 mi pace, 12 mi
  • 3 mi, 3 mi, 5 mi pace, cross, and 12 mi
  • 3 mi, 3 mi, 6 mi (tempo 4 @8:52),  2 mi, and 13 mi
Here's what I did.

Monday: Rest

Tuesday: I ran 4.03 miles. It was hilly in my old neighborhood. My garmin and mapmyrun didn't correspond because I paused my garmin to get a rock out of my shoe and forgot to unpause. I kind of took the difference of the two because I think mapmyrun was a little long.

Wednesday: I went for a short walk with Dave.

Thursday: Rest.

Friday:  I did my long run from the previous week and it wasn't even that long. :(  I ran about 8.2 miles. I didn't unpause my garmin once but that was for only about .25 mi but still mapmyrun and my garmin were 3/4 mile off!  I split the difference again. It was so boring. I also ran a few miles with gloves on. I kind of enjoyed the cold!

Saturday: I didn't really exercise but did a ton of lift Ella up from the ground all the way up to above my head. I'd be squatting and stand up and lift her too. I got quite sore. Then I did a ton of push-ups.

Sunday:  Rest.

Total Running Mileage: 12.23
Total other things: 1 random exercises, 1 walk

Summary: I'm quite bummed again about my low mileage. Running at my parents was tough. Not tough from the hills although that was tough, but tough because I had to coordinate with a lot of people.

November Workout Goals

I'm making my November goals the same goals I've had in the recent months. Maybe I'll make more than 1 this time.

I'm keeping all the goals the same as I did in August even though I didn't meet a bunch in August  (and I didn't meet any in September).
  1. Complete 16 cardio workouts (running, exercise bike, elliptical, or workout video)
  2. Complete 13 core workouts
  3. Frequency: Run 12 times.
  4. Distance: Run 60 total miles
  5. Workout with Dave 5 times.
  6. Lift weights 10 times.
  7. Exercise 5 times that aren't considered cardio above (mainly thinking about walks here that don't fit in anywhere)
  8. Have 3 double workout days (morning + evening, lunch + evening, etc)
  9. Stretch for 10 consecutive minutes 2 times
  10. Do foam roller exercises 3 times
  11. Do yoga 1 time.
I have a few other goals that are related to exercise but aren't me working out.
  1. Have a photo shoot to get some athletic pictures for at the top of this post.
  2. No more than 12 rest days all month
  3. No more than 3 consecutive rest days.

October Workout Goals - How I did

Here's how I did
  1. Complete 16 cardio workouts = 13
  2. Complete 13 core workouts  = 7
  3. Frequency: Run 12 times = 10
  4. Distance: Run 60 total miles = 25.02
  5. Workout with Dave 5 times. = 2
  6. Lift weights 10 times. = 9
  7. Exercise 5 times that aren't considered cardio above (mainly thinking about walks here that don't fit in anywhere) = 2
  8. Have 3 double workout days (morning + evening, lunch + evening, etc) = 5
  9. Stretch for 10 consecutive minutes 2 times  = 1
  10. Do foam roller exercises 3 times = 2
  11. Do yoga 1 time = 0
I have a few other goals that are related to exercise but aren't me working out.
  1. Have a photo shoot to get some athletic pictures for at the top of this post. = 0
  2. No more than 12 rest days all month (stretching or doing foam roller exercises means it is not a rest day)  = 15
  3. No more than 3 consecutive rest days. = Happened 2 times
I'm actually surprised my mileage is so low because I thought I was running more.  I was so close to so many goals. I know I worked out more than a lot lately but really I only made 1 goal.  I'm most proud of how many times I lifted weights.

  3. No more than 3 consecutive rest days. (the only change. It was 2 days before)
If you are curious how they compare month to month, you can look at old months or I might post my excel file.  I used to put in parenthesis what the old months goals were and if I met them but that cluttered it all up too much.
