Comparison: Ella and Miles and Liam

When Miles was 10 days old I quickly wrote up a post of differences I noticed between Ella and Miles. I figured I should document some of the initial differences I've noticed with Liam.
First I wasn't even prepared with things like pacifiers since I had 0 of 2 kids take them so far.  I was more go with the flow instead of having a ton of stuff out.  At 5 days old, I didn't even put the swing together for Liam.
  • Liam will sleep through a lot. He slept through a diaper change multiple times. He has slept through a diaper change and being unswaddled to go to the doctors.
  • He's more like Miles in not liking the super fast flow when nursing.
  • It could be all from memory but Liam's legs seems so skinny. I still can't get over how much he frogs up his legs (like Miles did). The more babies I see like this the more shocked I am how Ella never liked her legs curled up.
  • Liam spit up more his first couple days than Ella and Miles did combined ever.
  • Liam requires a burp after nursing but getting him to burp is quite difficult.  He will also need to burp 3 times or so after nursing not just one time.
  • Liam likes to be warm just like Miles did.
  • Liam will turn to his side in his crib. Both Ella and Miles just stayed on their backs just fine.
  • Liam just gets comfortable on tummy time.
  • I feel like Liam is more awake than Ella was and less awake than Miles.
There are probably many more things but this post sat in drafts for over a week so maybe I should post it and then just make another later.
I used the same collages I had in the last post and just added Liam pictures to it. I wanted to better compare pictures back then but not sure I ever did. Now I also want to.  I want to find some feet and hand pictures to compare but I doubt I ever will. I still have to write up the birth story and it's been 2 weeks! I haven't started.

Do you think they look similar or different? Who does Liam look more like?

2019 Week 15/52 Photo

April 14
I had a lot of trouble narrowing down the pictures. I had 5 I wanted to include.  Here are 2 from Sunday the 14th.  I was holding Miles because he wanted to give me hugs. Look at my huge belly.  Liam was born later that day! I propped my phone up to use a timer to take a pic. I knew I'd like to see it later.

Then here is one from the morning where again Miles wanted to give me hugs.

Here's a bonus picture that I really liked from Ella at the park.  We went with friends after school.

Liam's First Week

4/14
Since Liam was born before midnight we went home a day earlier than we would have if he was born just a few minutes later.
4/15
Liam's first night home was awful with sleep. He slept well during the day until 9 PM when I woke him to eat and then it was just misery. He wouldn't go back to lying down. I managed to put him down twice and he cried within minutes. I did not get into my bed until 5:30 AM and then Miles woke up at 6:30 AM so that was rough.  The next night he woke up mostly every 2 hours.  He will sleep for 3-4 hours straight during the day but not at night.

On his 4th night home, he slept for 4 straight hours all in the middle of the night so I got my longest sleep yet.

Latching to nurse is the hardest it's been for 3 kids. Sometimes it takes him a little while to get latched. I timed it 3 times and it took him 9 minutes to latch on my right side but he was getting and drinking milk that entire time. My shirt gets so much milk on it too.

Liam has spit up after nursing a few times without a good enough burp. Or maybe it's without having a few good enough burps.  He's also a lot of trouble to burp. I will spend 10 minutes trying to get him to burp before putting him in his crib.

4/15 - outtakes
Mostly we try to keep him downstairs with us sleeping through all the noises. Then at night he's in his crib. It does make it that I have to also stay in the family room area so then sometimes I want to rest or nap so move him to his crib so that I can use the baby monitor.
4/15
Ella loves to hold him and will hold him for long periods of time. Miles likes to hold him but will just hold him for a few minutes here or there.  Miles asks why he's not walking yet.
4/18
On April 18, I noticed my ankles were swollen. Then as the day went on they got a lot worse. It was hard to squat down to clean up because my skin just felt like it was pulling so tight.  They were not quite as bad on the 19th until I spent a half hour cleaning up and then they were awfully painful again.  They were still swollen on the 20th. (In Miles's first week post, I mentioned I was swollen for 3 days.) (They were still swollen on the 21st too.)
4/19 - 1st walk
4/19
On the 20th, I had a lot of cramping or pain. I lied in bed over an hour just trying to get the pain to go away. Ibuprofen helped a bit. When it wore off, I was in pain again. This happened for a few days.

I left the house to Liam's doctor appointment.  I went to Trader Joe's and preschool. I went to buy something from facebook marketplace and then to McD's.  So Liam went all those places too.

4/20 - first time lifting up his head

4/20 - 1st tummy time
I tried to get First Day Photos at the hospital but they were not onsite either day which annoyed me greatly. I sort of tried to take a few pictures at home but lighting has been horrible so I haven't really.
4/21 First time in bassinet.
I have the same problem I had the past 2 times; I have way too much milk.
Liam already has has a holiday.  He's had his first Easter. I took a picture of him beside his basket but I didn't even take him out of his swaddle sack.

Predictions Comparison

I did some predictions with Miles and thought I'd do it again. I also wrote after the fact to compare how right/wrong I was.   I did a post with predictions and now it's time to compare.

When will baby arrive?
My prediction: I really have no specific prediction. Last time I had a feeling or a dream or something. I just keep thinking to continue with my torture he will be late. I'm due April 13 and figure it will be after that.

Reality:  It was after April 13 but I was also in labor on April 13.

How long will labor be?
My prediction: I'm guessing less than 3 hours.

Reality: Labor was 46 hours long or so. Active labor was less but still. 7:35 PM is when I went to the hospital after over an hour of contractions 5 min or less apart with 1 minute long. Liam was born 11:48 PM. So I still had 4 hours at the hospital.

What will labor be like?
My prediction: I somehow guess I'll go into labor in the middle of the night and be in a bind because I won't have anything planned for what to do with the kids.

Reality: I did start going into labor in the middle of the night. Then the next night I was down to contractions 8 minutes apart but then they got further apart again.
How big will baby be?
My prediction: 8 lb 6 oz and 20.5 inches long.

Reality: 8 lb 0 oz and 21 inches long.

What will baby look like?
My prediction: I'm guessing the baby will have brown hair but barely any hair. I'm also guessing blue eyes like Ella and Miles. I'm predicting huge hands just like Miles had. I'm hoping for a normal length torso and normal length legs (instead of really long legs like Ella or a really long torso like Miles).

I'm predicting a normal delivery even though I could have a c-section. I can't get induced from a previous c-section so at 41 weeks, I would be having a c-section. I don't anticipate going that long.

Reality:  Liam has a little bit of brown hair. His eyes are so dark, they are dark dark gray from what I can tell. His hands don't seem huge but his fingers do seem long. His legs seem so short and skinny to me.  I did have a normal delivery. BUT I was also given pitocin. Since I was already pretty far along they didn't see an issue with it and said it was low dosage.

Baby Pool Results

Well I did a baby pool but then took almost a week to fill it out because I was so unsure on eye color. I wanted to change point values based on eye color since that changes anyway but I didn't see it. So everything is default points.

 Mara won the baby pool.

I didn't fill out the pool but wanted to.
Based on my other post I said 8 lb 6 oz, 20.5 inches long, blue eyes, brown hair. I said I'd go into labor in the middle of the night but I was guessing around a 2 AM birth. April 16 for due date but I didn't really have a specific guess.   I knew boy and initial. So let's see how many points I would have had.

Date 23/25
Time 9/15 (I think)
Sex 25/25
Weight 8/10
Length 8/10
Hair 5/5
Eyes 0/5
Letter 5/5

That's 85   Wow I would have won. That's way better than the 27th place I would have come in with Miles's birth.

I put screen screen shots so you don't have to click to check.

4.6.19 Timehop

I did this once before so I saved a few time hop pictures again. This time I tried to dig up some old blog posts so it took a little longer to put together.
I asked Miles what he was doing. He said "ice cream" (blog post)

Ella and her best friend, Aurelia.  We moved and came back and she's her best friend now too. We ended up living super close to them. It makes it so convenient.
2016

Easter Egg Hunt meetup. We had a mom contest. Ella made my squat hold harder. I didn't hold her the entire time at least.  (Actually March 24 but got the pictures late.)
Easter Egg Hunt - It was March 24 but just got pictures late)
2015

Ella was napping. I asked if I should eat, clean this mess up, or nap. I ended up eating the entire nap.

2014

This is how we swaddled Ella. We could not cover her legs or she wouldn't sleep.

2013

Miles said he didn't like this outfit. But that he likes the shoes, skirt, black tank top, necklace, and white jacket. So Dave asked if he just didn't like them together and he nodded.

Miles liked this one and wanted me to show him more.  Then I showed him a ton of dresses I had tried on and he liked all the dresses better than any of the pants outfits.

Miles said this outfit is for winter. I was confused and then asked if it was because of the scarf.  (blog post)

I made collages to earlier in the week outfits so there are a few extra outfits here.
Miles said he likes the orange shirt.

Miles did not like this one.

Then I made this with my outfit today to copy the one in a skirt above. I don't have a good arrow method now.
