Liam 9 Month Update

I never even took his stats but he did get them taken 2 days late at the doctors office. I just used those even though they tend to measure shorter than I do at home.  I was just too sick to do it all. Usually at the doctors they measure him shorter than I do at home. Also the head circumference is a mm or 2 smaller at the doctor than when I do it.

Stats:
  • Weight: 19 lb 6.4 oz - 45th percentile
  • Height: 31" - 99.8th percentile
  • Head Circumference: 45.6 cm - 67th percentile
  • Weight/Length Percentile: 3%
  • Diapers: Size 3
  • Clothing: Mostly 12 month clothing. Some 18 month onesies. 12 mo pants
  • Shoe Size: 5 but he never wears them
  • Teeth: 3 definitely grown in that it makes the others that just barely cut and did nothing seem nonexistent.
(stats using WHO)

Sleep
Sleep is awful. I thought sleep was awful before but then he got sick. There was a 16 day stretch that I only slept in my bed 12 TOTAL hours. I held him while he slept the rest.
For weeks this month, he would only sleep on me. At least when Dave was home, I could hold him longer and he'd get a long nap.   Even over night he wouldn't sleep straight through. He'd cry and squirm every 30-60 min and I'd have to bounce or nurse him to get him back to sleep.

Rereading the above it doesn't even sound as bad as it feels. It's been a ROUGH time since Dec 27.

Eating
Liam mostly nurses. He will eat 2 times in the high chair everyday.  I wish I had more things to feed him. I won't be ready and will try to start him with a cracker and he started just smashing it or throwing it right on the floor. He's actually pretty picky with his food. There are times he will refuse to eat or try something.
Sample Schedule:
It's still insane to have a sample schedule.  He nurses every time before he falls asleep and when he wakes up unless we are out. He will have food when I eat lunch and when I eat dinner.  He maybe takes 2 naps a day but only one is a decent nap.

Special Moments:
On December 21, his top right tooth is actually sticking out of his gums. (First tooth)
On December 22, his 2nd top tooth is sure popping now.
On December 23, 2 awful nights sleep. Then now he won’t go to sleep 1:45 trying so far
On December 24, Liam was leaning for reaching and 1 leg ready to crawl.
On December 25, I put him in bed to go bathroom.  He thudded in floor. Guess he's more mobile than I thought.
On December 27, Liam got a slight cold. He is snotty nursing.   Later that night he has a 100.4 fever.  I gave tylenol and the fever went down. He only slept on me. He woke periodically and cried and I’d get him back down.
On December 29, Liam slept on me ALL night. Not a single crib transfer.   Many tries. Cries right away   Gave Motrin 7am.   At 7 PM he had his first bath in the big tub. It was with Miles.
On December 30, he napped on me. Then when waking he felt warm. 100.5. Then I try to give him meds. He spits it up. Then spits it up more. It smelled. I gave him a bath.
On December 31, Liam was wheezing. The doctor prescribed an inhaler.  He also had ear infection so got amoxicillin.  I took to him urgent care with an appointment. (The non pediatric urgent care had a 3 hour wait!)
On January 1, Liam rolled over in his crib and then woke up crying.
On January 2, his temp was  99.7 temp in right ear. He waved to Dave.
On January 3,  Liam is still sick. His cough is worse. It sucks. His sleep sucks.
On January 4, I tried CIO for 20 min. At 10:51 PM, 2nd failed crib attempt.  And I want to snack! Last time in crib I did dishes.  My ankles are so swollen. He won’t sleep not on me.
On January 5, Liam spit up his milk and meds
On January 11, Liam has a bottom right tooth now (3rd tooth)
On January 12, Liam is still sick. But then got sick again. (his runny nose wasn't gone but then he got a cough again.) I got sick again.
Development:
He can sit up for even longer periods of time! He will sit and play for a decent amount of time.  He goes from lying down to sitting up. He will go from sitting to leaning forward to almost crawling. He can actually hit the buttons or play with the toy appropriately.

Communication:
He has said a few words here or there that we have understood. Hi, yeah, Ella, Dada, Mama he has said a bit. He will babble as a response. He mostly only says Mama when in the crib and he woke up.

Other Tidbits:
Likes
He likes to feed himself!
He likes to smile and watch other people.
He likes to meet new people and will try to lean with open arms to get them to hold him.
He likes to swing.
He likes it when people make him laugh.
He likes to touch and feel Daddy's hair.
He likes to eat butternut squash soup.
He likes to sit on the floor and play.
He likes his cube activity thing.
He likes to grab for wipes and medicine bottles.
He likes to take kleenexes and rip them apart.

Dislikes
He especially doesn't like to nurse if I'm talking.
He doesn't like to be put in his car seat if he wants to go to sleep.
He doesn't like to be in a car after dark and he cries the entire time.
He doesn't want to be held by anyone but me if he's tired. You also better not put him down.
He doesn't like Ella to hold him.
He doesn't like to nap besides in his crib.
He doesn't like to go into his crib at night.
Fun Facts
Longest time sleeping: 8 hours 35 minutes
Days with a sleep greater than 5 hours: 14 (lower than last month)  These are a little deceiving because they are actually worse. If he was asleep on me sometimes I'd nurse in the middle and not really mark that he woke up.
Days with a sleep greater than 6 hours: 11
(According to the internet sleeping through the night is considered sleeping 5-6 straight hours.)
Days with sleep greater than 8 hours: 4
Diapers used (from January 1-19): 5 per day
Time spent nursing (from January 1-19): 4 hours 34 minutes per day
Time spent sleeping (from January 1-19): 12 hours 38 minutes per day
Doctor Visits: 1
Illnesses: 1 (but it started Dec 27 and lasted all the way past when he turned 9 months on January 14)

Favorite Toys
Piano
Toy house
Cube activity thing
Just random toys he can grab and hold
Things that are not toys!
xylophone
hair brush
balls
Favorite Songs
He doesn't react so much to songs one way or the other.
He will cry in the car until I turn on Coffee House and then he will sigh and like it. (He does not like when I listen to politics.)

Favorite Books
none yet (He's liked books but doesn't seem to have a favorite)
Other Tidbits
He will still be asleep and cry even while I hold him. I can sometimes pat him and get him to stop crying all while asleep. Other times I get him to nurse and then he stops crying. All while still asleep. He doesn't just lie down for a diaper change anymore. He will sit up and reach and try to grab medicine or saline. He really likes to hold the Tylenol. He got the child proof cap off once so I need to be more careful.
My Recovery
I got sick but still got steps in daily. I didn't lose weight. I caught the flu just before he turned 9 months and it was rough.  I'm not running nearly what I want because I'm sick or someone else is sick and I just can't pull it off. I'm not even making myself look presentable. I didn't even do that for these photos. I'm just so run down.

Miles 23 Month Update

Stats:
  • Weight: 30 lb 2 oz  - 88th percentile
  • Height:  --- I didn't take it as of August 16. It's the only thing holding up this post. He is over 36" standing.
  • Head Circumference: 50.7 cm - 98th percentile
  • Weight/Length Percentile:
  • Diapers: Size 5
  • Clothing: 2T pants or shorts. 3T T-shirts (for length).  4T-5T socks
  • Shoe Size: 7
  • Teeth: 16 (I'm assuming. I haven't counted)
I took his measurements 3 days late.  (stats using WHO)
Sleep

Oh sleep is so annoying. He's gone a few days with no nap because he wouldn't transfer and then I tried to leave him in the crib to fall asleep but he just stood and cried until we gave up on nap.  Nap time starts so late. I have to sit with him for well over an hour.  Bed time at night also consumes well over an hour of my day.

Eating
Miles will wake up and immediately demand food. He will try to demand food when nap time or bedtime is taking while. He will be picky about what he wants and flip out. He likes his food.  He still will not drink milk. He won't even drink chocolate milk. He mostly eats in a right height chair. If it's super messy and he wants it, I can convince him to go into the high chair but that's only once every 2 weeks or so.

Sample Schedule:
8:30 PM - start bedtime routine, diaper, benedryl, books, sit in chair until he falls asleep.
Asleep by 10
7:30ish - wakes up
snacks
plays
lunch
plays
nap (usually start routine near 2 and falls asleep near 3 but sometimes even later)
sleeps 1-2 hours for nap
(cries a lot and is clingy after nap!)
get Ella, eat, play
Bedtime

Special Moments
On July 11, Miles woke up with poop all over clothes and crib. Miles had a dry diaper and then peed on the potty during bedtime routine. Then during rocking he asked to pee again and he did.
On July 14, as I was trying to get Miles to nap, he asked to go potty. He went into the crib awake for bed. Then he peed in potty. 2nd day this week he didn't have a nap.
On July 15, Miles woke up with huge wet diaper, but then also peed in potty.
On July 16 in the car, Miles said, “Mommy, Where we going?” He is getting so advanced.
On July 17, for the past week or so every time he walks down the stairs he says he’s walking down "like a baby."
On July 19, Miles is standing for a diaper change. I tell him he’s a big boy. The he says, “Hold shirt” and holds his shirt to make it easier for me. Wow such a big boy. Miles is afraid of the toilet flush when we were at a park.
On July 27, Miles's second day without a nap. Rough on me.
On July 29, Miles says, "I want my computer” as he's sitting trying to fall asleep for bed. He wanted the toy computer from floor.
On August 1, Miles rode forward facing first time in a car seat for a miles while we got a ride home.
On August 5, at 9:34 PM, Mies was so cute. He said he’s resting with daddy and “watching tv with daddy.” See pic.
On August 6, Miles said, "not pooping mommy” as I walk into the room. This was the start of him saying this often when he is going. Miles took his first bath tonight in months. He never sat down. He said he liked showers better. But then he also said the tub was like a pool.
On August 7, we transitioned to size 5 diapers downstairs last few days because we ran out of size 4 but he still used size 4 upstairs.
On August 8, Miles saw Abree and he’s obsessed. Beth says to Miles. “Do you want a little brother or sister?” Miles replies "just baby Abree."

Development:
He totally stopped going to the bathroom in the potty. He doesn't even want to sit anymore. So this is more of a regression and not a development.
He will get a step stool and drag it across the room to what he needs and climb up. He's been doing this but I may not have mentioned it before.
He's been jumping for a few months now but now he can do it when needed at gymnastics and actually moves forward a bit instead of just up and down.

Communication:
He vocalizes that he doesn't want people to touch him. He's pretty good at using sentences to explain his shyness.

Other Tidbits:
Likes
He loves to go in the stroller (versus the car)
He likes to be independent.
He likes to eat!
He likes Ella!
He likes the park. He likes to say "go playground."
He loves friends.
He likes to play outside.
He wants to ride a bike so bad.
He likes to go swimming.
He likes to take a shower.
He likes to eat the icing out of oreos and give Dave the cookie part.
He likes to pick up dirt and throw it when we're at the park.

Dislikes
I spoiled him so now he hates going into the crib awake and he wants to fall asleep on me. He also hates being transferred to the crib.

Miles 22 Month update

Stats:
  • Weight: 29 lb 15 oz  - 90th percentile
  • Height: 36.5" - 98.9th percentile
  • Head Circumference: 50.7 cm - 98th percentile
  • Weight/Length Percentile: 58%
  • Diapers: Size 4
  • Clothing: 2T pants or shorts. 2T or 3T T-shirts (for length).  4T-5T socks
  • Shoe Size: 7
  • Teeth: 16 (I'm assuming. I haven't counted)
I took his measurements 2 days late.  (stats using WHO)
Sleep
He discovered crying when going to sleep would get me to go back in there since he never cried I thought something was up.  He then started up crying for 30 minutes or more in his crib.  Then recently after his cold, I let him fall asleep on me in the chair and now he wants to fall asleep on me in the chair every time...and I have let him every time for the past week.

He falls asleep near 9 pm. He wakes up near 8 am.  Then starts his nap later and later daily.
Eating
Miles loves to eat apple jacks out of a snack cup. That is usually his breakfast.  He eat lunch, snack when picking Ella up, and dinner.

Sample Schedule:
8 PM - start bedtime routine, clean feet in sink if they need it and wipe him down, diaper, benedryl, books, sit in chair until he falls asleep.
Asleep by 9
8ish - wakes up
snacks
plays
lunch
plays
nap (usually start routine near 2 and falls asleep near 3 but sometimes even later)
sleeps 1-2 hours for nap
(cries a lot and is clingy after nap!)
get Ella, eat, play
Bedtime

Special Moments
On June 11, Miles says “No car seat. Run” while I was putting him in car to get Ella.
On June 15 Miles has had a runny nose last few days.
On June 17, Miles got his first haircut. Miles had a dry diaper and then he peed in the potty before bed!
On June 18, Miles went and got something out of freezer. He opened freezer himself first time.
On June 22, Miles said, "Need blanket.” I said, "I don’t have a blanket." He said, “Need hoodie” and points to my hoodie. He said he was cold. I gave him my hoodie.
On June 27, Miles was stacking blocks for the first time.
On June 29, at 4:48 AM, Miles cried for a few seconds but back to sleep on his own. Bedtime was late and there was lots of crying :(
On June 30, Miles just asked me to go potty. I said “do you have to go potty?” (sometimes play and potty sound similar.) He said “have to poop”. He peed right away on the potty and then pooped. His first poop on the potty. He got a cold. He had a bad time crying at bedtime again! He learned stalling tricks saying he's too hot and needs us to remove clothes and saying he has to go potty. He did pee in the potty during the stalling though.
On July 1,Miles slept with the light on since he has been crying a lot falling asleep. It didn't go so well and he woke up at 3 am. He did have a cold too. He cried in the crib when I tried to put him back in but since I knew Dave had to wake up in 2 hours to start smoking the pork, I was nicer about it. Then at 4:45, I got him in the crib and I sat on the outside holding his hand through the crib slats. I couldn't handle sitting any more so I left at 5:11 and he cried. But he only cried for 2 minutes. It was already getting daylight by this point! At 11:35, Miles climbed up the back of the chair to get on the super high counter to climb over and try to get to cupcakes for Ella's party. On July 2, Miles got his hand stuck in the car door. He had diaper rash issues and was in pain so he wanted to wear undies. When he stood to eat, I knew he was in pain so I let him wear undies and he peed in the potty twice and had 0 accidents after 2 hours of undies.
On July 3, Miles went a couple hours again in undies. This time he did have a pee accident.
On July 4, Miles didn't want to wear a diaper. He’s worn undies for a portion of the past 3 days. “Don’t put diaper on me." He spent 5 hours in undies. He only had 1 accident while he was eating in the high chair and I was upstairs at the time and he was crying and crying. So maybe he was trying to get our attention first. At dinner the poor guy had poop explosions up his back while he was wearing a diaper and in the high chair.
On July 5, he had a bad time going to sleep yet again.
On July 6, Miles said he had to go potty. Then carried his potty chair from other room. Then I helped him sit and he peed a lot.
On July 9, Miles had a dry diaper after nap then peed in potty.

Development:
He wants to wear undies a lot and not wear a diaper. He has used the potty a lot asking to go. I've noticed he can jump. I'm not sure when that started but he's pretty good.  He can kick a ball. He's getting better at throwing balls where he wants them to go.  The opposite of development is Miles became to aware and won't go to sleep himself.

Communication:
He gets shy around some people but for the most part talks a lot. He'll still give high fives to people. When he gets tired, it's harder and harder to understand him. I can understand everything when he's not tired but some stuff is a little unique that other people that aren't used to him have trouble understanding.

Other Tidbits:
Likes
He loves to go in the stroller (versus the car)
He likes to be independent.
He likes to eat!
He likes Ella!
He likes to try to get anything that he should not have.
He likes to play outside.

He likes to go swimming.
He likes to take a shower.

I spoiled him so now he hates going into the crib awake and he wants to fall asleep on me.

Miles 21 Month Update

Stats:
  • Weight: 29 lb 8 oz  - 90th percentile
  • Height: 36" - 98.6th percentile
  • Head Circumference: 50.5 cm - 98th percentile
  • Weight/Length Percentile: 62%
  • Diapers: Size 4
  • Clothing: 24 month or 2T pants or shorts. 2T or 3T T-shirts (for length).  4T-5T socks
  • Shoe Size: 7
  • Teeth: 16 (I'm assuming. I haven't counted)
I took his measurements 2 days late.  (stats using WHO)
Sleep
We traveled for 2 weeks then were in temp housing a week and then in our house that didn't have curtains. It's been a little all over the place. Overnight he sleeps 9ish until 7:30 ish. He woke up early a few times.  He naps later and later and started fighting them. Most recently with lack of curtains his naps are only a hour long.

Eating

Eating was all over the place with traveling. Now he eats breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, snack it seems.

Sample Schedule:
This is still getting back to a routine again. Almost no 2 days were alike. Next month should be better.

Special Moments
On May 10, Miles learned to whisper.
On May 11, Miles has such a diaper rash. He has a bloody inch long spot now. I walked over to Miles and he was holding his finger to his lips whispering quiet to me. He kept popping up in pack n play looking at us
On May 12, Miles went in the pool.
On May 13, Miles can sure say “give it back." Miles fully climbed into car seat.
On May 17, Miles is pretty good at waiting until after we get to hotel to poop in diaper. It's the second day that his diaper rash is a lot better. And second day he’s not pooping a million times.
On May 21, Miles wants to do everything himself. Even says "do self" for diaper changes.
On May 27, Miles completed his second road trip.
On May 29, Miles wanted to poop on potty and sat on potty so cute and proud. He didn't go though.
On May 30, at 5:39 AM, Miles woke up and cried. I ran in and got his night light for him. Then told him it wasn’t morning yet and to go back to sleep. He nodded. Then did.
On June 2, I walked upstairs and asked Miles if he knew which way his room was. I asked because I kept messing up and going the wrong way for every room. He said it was to the "right then right again." He was right. Now I never mess up going to any of the bedrooms.
On June 3, while eating dinner, I asked Miles if he wants a shower or bath later. He says shower. I say ok after dinner he can shower. And he says “ok all done” and hands me all his food. Then he kept getting up to go. I said I had to finish eating. Then when I said ok time for a shower he screamed yay and was dancing up and down. I like this change! And the shower went smoothly. I washed him and hair. And then he practiced washing himself since he didn’t want to come out. Later he cried for 20 min when I put him to bed. (Ne never does this.) I went in and he was scratching his legs bad and yelling about bandaids. I cut his nails. He said "thank you"
On June 4, I noticed that the last few days he likes to “do it self” and walks down the steps himself. He has become obsessed with sitting on the potty and wanting to go potty - but hasn’t gone. He probably sat for an hour or by 2 pm. Then at 2:40 he actually peed on the potty!
On June 5, Miles peed in potty after nap. (He woke up with a diaper rash and it was quite red and raw.)
On June 6, it was an awful diaper change. Little rash causes lots of pain.
On June 9, poor Miles has a little bit a rawness in his diaper area. And he keeps pooping overnight. Then in morning he is not happy and says “get off” and I’m not listening because I have to wipe. So he started saying “get off my butt."
On June 10, Miles stuck head in water when washing hands!
6/11/18
Development:
He forms more detailed sentences if you don't respond right away. He will say "Get off" then add "get off my butt" then elaborate even more "get off my butt please" when you are changing his diaper.  Or "eat" then "need eat" then "need to eat" then "need to eat now"

Communication:
He talks a lot. Everyone comments that he talks a lot for his age. He forms sentences. He even says sentences to new people.

Other Tidbits:
Likes
He loves to go in the stroller (versus the car)
He loves books.
He likes waterfalls, buses, boats, and choo choo trains.
He likes to be independent.
He likes to eat!
He likes Ella!
He likes to try to get anything that he should not have.
He likes to play outside.
He wants to ride a bike so bad.
He likes to go swimming.
He likes to take a shower.

He doesn't like to be helped to do things. He doesn't like to get ready and go to bed if he's already tired.

Random Tidbits
He loves to play at preschool and play with or around other kids. He wants to "do self" so much. He goes up and down the stairs easily himself. He even carries things like his stroller as he is going up or down. Miles has really sensitive skin again. He's scratching all over and has marks from his scratching. I'm back to giving him Benadryl. He also seems to get diaper rashes more.  This month Miles stopped sleeping with his scratch sleeves on.  He also started reading books in his crib or staring at pictures of him and Ella while he falls asleep.

I didn't take pictures on my good camera and I didn't even attempt nice pictures on my phone. I'm using what I happened to take on the 10th and what I took on the 11th.

Miles 18 Month Update

Stats:
  • Weight: 27 lb 13 oz  - 90th percentile
  • Height: 35.5" - 99.8th percentile
  • Head Circumference: 50.2 cm - 98.4th percentile
  • Weight/Length Percentile: 44%
  • Diapers: Size 4
  • Clothing: 18 pants. 18 mo or 2 T T-shirts.  2T-3T socks
  • Shoe Size: 7
  • Teeth: 16
(stats using WHO)

Sleep
Miles wakes up between 7:30 and 8:00.  Then he takes 1 nap a day. It’s mostly near 1:00. Sometimes it's a little later. He naps 1-2.5 hours daily. We start bedtime at 7:30 PM. He goes to sleep so well and even if he ever wakes up and cries for a second, he puts himself back to sleep.

Eating
Miles snacks in the morning upstairs while we are getting Ella ready or has breakfast in the car.  He eats a bigger meal at some point before nap.  He likes to eat right after nap. Then we get Ella and they snack in the car on the way home. They start dinner or snack immediately after getting home. The kids eat while I cook. Then they mostly don’t eat the actual dinner.

Sample Schedule:
Start bedtime routine pretty close to 7:30.  Routine is Benadryl, diaper change, put him in his scratch sleeves and sleep sack. Put on some ointments but most of the time I don't put on any. Then I read books to him. We read 5 or more every night (and before every nap.) He has some favorites but those favorites seem to change. I leave one arm out of the scratch sleeves so he can turn pages and lift flaps. He takes a book to the crib with him.  I recently starting holding him and swaying and singing after books and he loves it. (I have no idea why. My singing is so horrible.) He always goes into the crib into the corner with his head on the pillow. I cover him with his 2 afghans and the fleece blanket. Then I turn on his night light elephant and he holds his book. He falls asleep within minutes. He sleeps all night. If I happen to hear him make noise in the night he goes back to sleep himself.  He wakes up anywhere between 7:30 and 8:00 for the day.  Get Ella ready for school, drop Ella off, and he has a snack in the car.
10 more snack
11:30 lunch
1:00 nap routine starts  (This time keeps getting later.)
1:30-3 nap
eat, play, hangout, get Ella, eat, play
then 7:30 bedtime routine again

He gets Benadryl before bed at night and before nap.

Special Moments:
On February 11, Miles climbed up and went down the slide himself at play place at mall. This is the first time he did this.

On February 26, He smashed his hand in hall closet door.

He slept 20 more minutes. He had an awful short nap. He wanted to sleep more, but didn’t at same time. There was lots of crying.
On February 28, Miles rode on the big swing himself!
On March 2, Miles walked down the steps holding my hand for the first time. He stepped and didn’t scoot on his butt. I sure was shocked. We never had steps when Ella was little so I don't have a comparison for this. Miles fell off couch and smashed face He had a bloody mouth. (When I documented this in my app, I wrote bloody, bloody bloody mouth.)
On March 3, Miles walked up the steps while holding my hand. I couldn't believe he just walked up instead of crawling.
On March 5, Miles started saying many new things. The best word over and over today was no.

Sleep
Miles wakes up between 7:30 and 8:30.  Then he takes 1 nap a day. It’s mostly near 12:30.

He’s in his high chair most of the time we are eating. He has some dessert too. Then it’s almost bedtime.  He has a yogurt or yogurt smoothie before going up to bed.
Sample Schedule:
Start bedtime routine pretty close to 7:30.  Routine is Benadryl, diaper change, put him in his scratch sleeves and sleep sack. Put on some ointments but most of the time I don't put on any. Then I read books to him. We read 7 or more every night (and before every nap.) He has some favorites. I leave one arm out of the scratch sleeves so he can turn pages and lift flaps. He takes a book to the crib with him.  He always goes into the crib into the corner with his head on the pillow. I cover him with his 2 afghans and the fleece blanket. Then I turn on his night light elephant and he holds his book. He falls asleep within minutes. He sleeps all night. If I happen to hear him make noise in the night he goes back to sleep himself.  He wakes up anywhere between 7:30 and 8:30 for the day.  Get Ella ready for school, drop Ella off, and he has a snack in the car. Sometimes he falls asleep on the way home and other times he doesn't nap until 2.
11 lunch
12:30 nap routine starts - We transitioned from nursing to book reading. We read about 6 books before nap and he goes into his crib awake.
1-3 nap
eat, play, hangout, get Ella, eat, play
then 7:30 bedtime routine again

He gets Benadryl before bed at night and before nap.

Special Moments:
On January 11, Miles climbed up on gray couch all by himself. He stood on scale before bath then peed!
On January 12, there was no nursing before bed. I asked if he wanted books or nursing and he chose books. I was going to have that be the last time we nurse so looks like we were done without realizing.

Miles 11 Month Update

Stats:
  • Weight: 24 lb 2 oz  - 92nd percentile
  • Height: 31" - 97th percentile (he was impossible to measure. It was just above 30.5)
  • Head Circumference: 48 cm - 96th percentile
  • Weight/Length Percentile: 79%

  • Clothing: I've been putting him in mostly 18 month onesies. He wears some 12 month t-shirts. Pants are 12 or 18 months. He's worn some 18 month and 2T shirts. The 18 month pants are too long but they fit better in the butt.
  • Shoe Size: 5
  • Teeth: 6
(stats using WHO)

Sleep
Miles tends to sleep through the night now.  But he wakes up so early.  Every now and then he wakes up at midnight or at 4. I think he'll sleep in later after those wake-ups but he usually doesn't.

Eating
He eats 4 meals a day. He nurses morning, before nap, after nap, 1-2 more times, before bed, and middle of the night probably. He doesn't even try to nurse after nap anymore. He will go 6 hours during the day without nursing and be totally fine.

He loves to feed himself. If I hand him a fork with food on it, he feeds himself and gets so excited about it.

I feel like he spends 15-30 min eating breakfast but then will spend an hour at dinner.  Each meal progressively gets longer throughout the day.

Fruit seems be be his favorite. Cooked foods that we have for meals seem to be preferred over crackers or bread or something simple.

Sample Schedule:
Start bedtime routine pretty close to 8:00.  Routine is Benadryl, diaper change, and sing him ABCs while I put him in his scratch sleeves and sleep sack. Put on some ointments. Then I nurse. Asleep by 8:30.   Sleep all night or wake up 1-2 times! Wake up 5:00 for the day but maybe cat nap on me while he nurses.  Play a little, Nap (anywhere from 8 am to 11 AM start) Play. Eat breakfast,  Play.  Cranky, Nurse maybe 15 min cat nap on me. Eat. Play, Eat. Play. Eat. Sleep.
He gets Benadryl before bed at night and before nap all days.

Sometimes he's woken up before it's daylight and I get him back to his crib and I can get back to sleep briefly.

He naps 2 hours almost every single nap which is good.

Special Moments:
On July 11, Miles woke up at 4:30 AM and cried but then went back to sleep on his own.  He turned on the bath water in the master bathroom tub.  We switched to size 4 diapers since we ran out of size 3 but he was going to need to be moved up soon anyway.
On July 15, he was nursing, sat up, then spit up.
On July 17, he stood up unassisted.
On July 18, he ate cat food. Oops.
On July 19, Miles said bye to a the tree cutting truck as it went up the hill.
On July 21, he fell asleep in the strollers minutes before getting to the car.  He had his first Kennywood trip.

On July 29, I had change him on such a high changing table that I had to use my tip toes!
On July 31, I was moving Miles and bent his arm wrong and it cracked. He cried but then got over it quickly.  He enjoyed taking kleenexes out of a box.
On August 2, he took his first steps.
On August 4, he rode on the red push car for the first time.  He said "ah ah ah" like the count after I counted.
On August 7, he played peek-a-boo for the first time himself.

Development:
He reaches for things he really wants and war cries like crazy. Pretty much I can't have a drink at the dinner table or he wants it. He's super persistent.

He stands all the time holding onto to something. He cruises around everything. He opens drawers now. He loves to close doors. He crawls with speed.

He definitely wakes up when sleeping, sits up, and goes back to sleep. I've seen it a few times on the monitor.

Miles has taken 1-2 steps a few times now.

Communication:
Miles has said a few more words. I think he's spoken a few sentences here or there too. He tends to say something new and say it a few times then not say it again for awhile. He said Bye Bye to my parents when they were leaving.

Other Tidbits:

He hates when I leave the room. I also better not be walking away from him.

Other Tidbits
I give Miles benadryl at 8 PM, 8 AM, and 2 PM daily.

I've been playing music more for Ella and Miles and they both like it.

I haven't even tried to have him nap without his sleep sack. I want to try but then never do. He naps pretty well and I'm worried I'll ruin that.

Now not only does he like to nurse while holding his afghan but he likes to hold my little pillow I like to put behind my head to make myself more comfortable while nursing.

My Recovery
My knee hurts a bit. I'm probably getting too used to it.  I'm not sleeping nearly what I should be. I never get a break. It is really tough being ON all the time.
