8.6 - Nerdiness
Shoes: Famous Footwear
Shirt: Loft (2009)
Shorts: F21
Necklace: I can't remember
Purse: Kohl's
I wasn't sure if this matched. I usually wear darker or brighter blue with orange but I think it looks alright in the pictures. I don't know though.
My definition of a nerd has changed over the years. I got excited learning about creating VBA Macros in Excel, learning SQL, and organizing my inbox and I didn't even think any of those things were remotely nerdy. The other day I installed a virtual linux machine on my desktop and also didn't think that was nerdy. My computer name is Voyager so Dave came up with naming my virtual machine Delta Flyer and I thought that was nerdy. I created some macros today for fun and created a few basic ones for my running file and didn't consider that nerdy. I also look at different people that someone calls a nerd and don't think they look nerdy at all. Dave said it is because I hang out with too many nerds. That might be the case or maybe the definition of nerd has evolved over the years.
I go so involved in doing things that I didn't think were nerdy that I didn't even eat lunch until 3pm.
I met Dave for dinner at Five Guys.
We did our usually in the evening... computers + TV. I did complete 15 of 20 things on my to-do list. If the stairs were open during the day or the door lock wasn't broken in the evening I would have done another one easy.
Poly climbed up on top of the monitor box but then I guess she didn't want to share with the polar bear so she knocked him right off.
Poly was well behaved throughout the day. Either she is behaved so I'm happier so I'm happier so then she's more behaved. I haven't figured out which way the correlation goes yet.

6.14
We woke up and were just relaxing in bed. We were talking about how the packers were supposed to call the day before to tell us what time they were coming. Nobody ever called. I had nightmares that they wouldn't even show up. Dave joked that they were probably on the porch right then. A few minutes later I got up to walk to my craft room and saw people on the porch! I hurried up and put on a hoodie and went and answered the door. The packers were there. There were two, a male and a female, and they did a little tour of the house to see what was going and what wasn't.
Just as they were showing up, my parents were showing up. Originally we were told not to pack anything up at all. We were told that even if something is in our own box they will repack it. We discussed this with the packers later and they said they just list things as owner packed boxes. We had a ton of things thrown in boxes and hidden in the basement but not packed for real. (Later we would learn that we should have just taken it all out of our boxes to be properly packed so things weren't damaged.)
The packers said it is an owner packed box but that nothing in the owner packed boxes is insured. Nothing makes sense. They made a big deal about the original TV boxes and original game system boxes and how they wouldn't pack anything in those. Well well well that meant we were packing that up and the TVs. I was riled up because if we would have known that, we could have done some things the day before. The moving coordinator specifically warned us not to pack anything at all. I hate the contradictions.
Since we had to pack up the stuff that goes in the original boxes, my mom helped with that. She did all the gaming systems in the family room. I got a box to put the cable box in. We didn't want them accidentally packing that. Poly got in the box so I had to wait to put the cable box in it.
I had to leave to go to the NVision lunch. Dave could have gone but we didn't want to leave the packers there alone. I was getting an award. I asked if I was able to go even though I quit working and they said yes. I got there and talked a little to people but I had to leave immediately after to get lunch and get home for Dave. I wished I would have had more time to talk to everyone. My manager went to see me get my award.
After the lunch someone asked the photographer if he was going to take a group photo and he said no. Well we decided to take one and I we used my camera. I'm glad we have it. That group photo even went in a newsletter at work. I guess the real photographer should have gotten it. It's funny they didn't even ask my permission to use it or anything.
Poly was tired from all the commotion and all of her toys and places to go were being taken away so she napped on a chair. She did like to explore all the boxes.
At one point Dave went out to buy more luggage (even though he came home empty handed) and I mowed the lawn. The mower had to be packed w/o gas in it and our lawn kind of needed to be mowed. I was just going to mow until the mower ran out of gas but I ended up doing the entire lawn. A little gas goes a long way.
Originally the packers said they'd be done early afternoon. Then later they said 5pm. We had to pick up our rental car by 6. I made dinner plans with coworkers for 6pm. Well around 4:45 they told us how they would go long and we needed to get the rental car before the place closed. Dave was not happy about that. Dinner was right by the rental car place to be convenient for us. Well the later it got the later I was to MY OWN dinner. Finally I suggested that I leave and Dave join us after they are done. I thought of that the entire time but I didn't want to ditch Dave since he had already missed out on lunch. I had texted everyone saying I'd be late so some knew to get there 20 min late or so. I ended up being over an hour late. Boy was I mad. Dave got there over 1.5 hours late. At least I ordered his food so that was there. His food actually arrived prior to him. I was so upset to be late to my dinner. I felt like even though everyone waited to order they ate and left because they already killed an hour sitting there before I arrived. It was really nice getting to talk to some people again. I know I had a going away dinner previously but you can never have enough and some different people came this time. I did send out the invites via email at the last minute and didn't have everyone's personal email addresses so I didn't even get everyone. Ten people were there total. I was surprised how many people made it out.
After dinner, 4 of us went for frozen yogurt. It was Dave's idea and he said who to ask. He doesn't like huge groups so I let it go with 4 of us. One of them said they felt special being invited to the after party. Ha. I never thought of it that way.
After we got home, we were exhausted.
Dave got rid of his car so now we just had the rental. We knew the movers were showing up at 9am. We knew we'd need to shower in the morning. We had our bedding and towels but not much else going on. We didn't have wireless since all that was packed up. At least we had 3G on our phones.

I don't have any pictures of my first outfit.
My second outfit was for the NVision lunch.
My third outfit was for doing work around the house.
Oh I guess I had another outfit - my lawn mowing outfit.
Shirt and shorts: F21, Shoes: Famous Footwear
Dress: Dress Barn, Cardigan: Kohl's, Necklace: Sears, Shoes: Famous Footwear
I wore the same dress as in the photo that would be on the powerpoint presentation. I did that on purpose to see if anyone would notice and a few did.
At one point I looked in the mirror. I was confused. Then I realized I forgot what my face looks like with makeup on.

6.4
Outfit 1: Express Shirt, F21 shorts, Sperry shoes,
Outfit 2: Express Jeans, Express Shirt, F21 hoodie, Sperry shoes
Necklace and earrings: Target
Scarf that I wore a little is from F21
At 6:30 we went to eat the hotel breakfast.
Then we went to a park to run/walk. The weather was nice. We saw a crossing guard. Their outfits are different than around here. She had a stop sign with a flashing light. Also by around here I mean by my parents. I've never seen a crossing guard up in Valencia.
We got home showered and wasted a little (or a lot) of time. I wanted to eat breakfast again at 8am but apparently I had to wait.
We went to Target to kill time then went to Fresh Choice for lunch. It was nothing to right home about. We went to Trader Joe's next to scope it out. We took pictures of limes for Timmy.
We went to San Jose and looked at the apartments that we will be staying in for temporary housing. We also looked at some 2 and 3 bedroom apartments there to see what they are like. Then it was time to go back to our hotel. We decided to look up where to go next instead of try to figure it out on the way.
We went to the local mall just for kicks (We either did this before or after going to the apartment. I am writing this 5 hours later and can't remember the order.) The mall reminded me of Ross Park Mall. There were similar fancy stores. There were a few more fancy stores but the mall is larger. I think it is Westfield Mall but my memory could be wrong.
I ended up taking a 30 minute nap while sitting up and using my computer. We headed to a bar and grill for dinner then off to drive up to the mountains. The view was nice but they didn't have nice stopping places and when they did, we couldn't photograph it well.
Then we went to Whole Foods to go in one.
Then it was back to the hotel and time to crawl in bed and use my computer.
The Target around here will stop having bags June 20. It is from some new law but I didn't read the entire sign.
Having a cat removes about 3/4 of the available apartments around here. I don't know why so many restrict. Poly is a little baby.

I went for a run with Jill's group. But the group was just Jill and me. We were going to do 10 but I was a big baby complaining about the heat so we only did a little over 8. A few hundred yards from our car we came across these geese. The babies couldn't get up the sidewalk. Jill coaxed them to a lower part.
The left picture was right after the run. The right picture was a bit later (after my shower). Notice my tan line. I can never get a good picture of it. I feel like it is worse in person. (BTW I have been running 3-4 days a week and haven't even been looking at my data let alone updating my summary excel sheet let alone updating my excel tabs for each specific run. I am so behind. At least all the overall data lately is on Garmin but I don't have documented who I went with, the temperature, how I felt, or whatever else I wanted to write down.)
I have no idea what else I did because that was too long ago but I know it involved TV based on the pictures above. And I know Dave fell asleep while we were watching TV.
Then later or maybe starting at 7pm or so I started watching some TV. I finished watching One Tree Hill. The series finale made me want to watch all 9 seasons again. I told Dave he should get the series for me. Well it was on Netflix so at 11 PM he came down and showed me how to watch it. I told him not to because I'd be up all night. He did anyway.
Then I watched season 1 until 6:30 AM when I figured I needed to go to sleep. I had to cover my head under the covers to fall asleep because it was so bright. I already know what happens in that series and yet the episodes still made me cry all over again. Good show. Now I need to find new series as good as One Tree Hill. I do think the first 5 or 6 seasons were better than the last few. They all just got too excessively successful. I mean how many group of friends will have an author, NBA player, famous singer, fashion designer who owns her own company, record label owner, and I forget what else.

Poly was in the sink. Dave turned on the water. She didn't even drink it like I hear other cats do.

We had multiple appointments for showings of the house so we couldn't just ride around. Dave and I picked up pizza and we went to the park and ate it. Poly enjoyed the park. Since the appointments gave us ranges we weren't really sure how much time to kill.
A little bit later Dave and I went to Kohl's to look for a new wallet for him. They didn't have anything good. Then we went to the mall. We went to JCP first. They didn't have any good wallets. We were going to buy shorts but they seemed to be out. So then he bought a few T-shirts. I like the new JCP pricing. On our way out of the mall I went in F21 to find some shorts. I'm so hot anymore and don't have shorts so I wanted to buy some. I tried on orange, cherry, white, and a blue. The blue were too high cut and hit my gut too high and weren't good for sitting. The white ones were a little see through so I didn't get those. The cherry and orange were good. They looked very similar. The cherry ones didn't look like cherry but more like orange. I wished they had more colors in my size. They had a wide variety of colors and fits and styles but the only 2 that worked for me looked very similar.
The styles were a little different. One was a little more casual than the other. Both were a little short but maybe I'm not too old for shorter shorts. Now I just have to figure out what to wear with these. So far I know white and blue. I want to buy some patterned shirts to match but I bet I won't. At least shorts at F21 are pretty inexpensive. I figure colorful shorts won't be in style next year so $10-$12 is a good range to potentially only last one summer. I do wish I had some normal shorts though.
We ran into Paulo's wife and daughter at the mall.
We watched TV after we got home. We probably cleaned and did other stuff but I can't remember now.
