Miles 23 Month Update

Stats:
  • Weight: 30 lb 2 oz  - 88th percentile
  • Height:  --- I didn't take it as of August 16. It's the only thing holding up this post. He is over 36" standing.
  • Head Circumference: 50.7 cm - 98th percentile
  • Weight/Length Percentile:
  • Diapers: Size 5
  • Clothing: 2T pants or shorts. 3T T-shirts (for length).  4T-5T socks
  • Shoe Size: 7
  • Teeth: 16 (I'm assuming. I haven't counted)
I took his measurements 3 days late.  (stats using WHO)
Sleep

Oh sleep is so annoying. He's gone a few days with no nap because he wouldn't transfer and then I tried to leave him in the crib to fall asleep but he just stood and cried until we gave up on nap.  Nap time starts so late. I have to sit with him for well over an hour.  Bed time at night also consumes well over an hour of my day.

Eating
Miles will wake up and immediately demand food. He will try to demand food when nap time or bedtime is taking while. He will be picky about what he wants and flip out. He likes his food.  He still will not drink milk. He won't even drink chocolate milk. He mostly eats in a right height chair. If it's super messy and he wants it, I can convince him to go into the high chair but that's only once every 2 weeks or so.

Sample Schedule:
8:30 PM - start bedtime routine, diaper, benedryl, books, sit in chair until he falls asleep.
Asleep by 10
7:30ish - wakes up
snacks
plays
lunch
plays
nap (usually start routine near 2 and falls asleep near 3 but sometimes even later)
sleeps 1-2 hours for nap
(cries a lot and is clingy after nap!)
get Ella, eat, play
Bedtime

Special Moments
On July 11, Miles woke up with poop all over clothes and crib. Miles had a dry diaper and then peed on the potty during bedtime routine. Then during rocking he asked to pee again and he did.
On July 14, as I was trying to get Miles to nap, he asked to go potty. He went into the crib awake for bed. Then he peed in potty. 2nd day this week he didn't have a nap.
On July 15, Miles woke up with huge wet diaper, but then also peed in potty.
On July 16 in the car, Miles said, “Mommy, Where we going?” He is getting so advanced.
On July 17, for the past week or so every time he walks down the stairs he says he’s walking down "like a baby."
On July 19, Miles is standing for a diaper change. I tell him he’s a big boy. The he says, “Hold shirt” and holds his shirt to make it easier for me. Wow such a big boy. Miles is afraid of the toilet flush when we were at a park.
On July 27, Miles's second day without a nap. Rough on me.
On July 29, Miles says, "I want my computer” as he's sitting trying to fall asleep for bed. He wanted the toy computer from floor.
On August 1, Miles rode forward facing first time in a car seat for a miles while we got a ride home.
On August 5, at 9:34 PM, Mies was so cute. He said he’s resting with daddy and “watching tv with daddy.” See pic.
On August 6, Miles said, "not pooping mommy” as I walk into the room. This was the start of him saying this often when he is going. Miles took his first bath tonight in months. He never sat down. He said he liked showers better. But then he also said the tub was like a pool.
On August 7, we transitioned to size 5 diapers downstairs last few days because we ran out of size 4 but he still used size 4 upstairs.
On August 8, Miles saw Abree and he’s obsessed. Beth says to Miles. “Do you want a little brother or sister?” Miles replies "just baby Abree."

Development:
He totally stopped going to the bathroom in the potty. He doesn't even want to sit anymore. So this is more of a regression and not a development.
He will get a step stool and drag it across the room to what he needs and climb up. He's been doing this but I may not have mentioned it before.
He's been jumping for a few months now but now he can do it when needed at gymnastics and actually moves forward a bit instead of just up and down.

Communication:
He vocalizes that he doesn't want people to touch him. He's pretty good at using sentences to explain his shyness.

Other Tidbits:
Likes
He loves to go in the stroller (versus the car)
He likes to be independent.
He likes to eat!

He likes the park. He likes to say "go playground."
He loves friends.

He wants to ride a bike so bad.
