We used to have a heat transfer teacher who told that, because of all the assumptions made, if you had an answer within 200% of the correct answer, you had a right answer. I hope you have such a reasonable instructor. Just don't forget, assume the beet is round before you drop it in the water and then wait 5 minutes to see how hot the center get's. :-)
PS. No extra credit if the instructor speaks understandable Engish.
