In the Bag: Makeup Edition

I'm pretty sure it is somehow bad for me that some of this makeup is so old.
Makeup in my gym bag
In the summer I would workout at least 3 mornings a week and then this is what I used to do my makeup. All other days I used my "entire" collection that was at home.

Eyeshadow: NYC for brown eyes I think (even though my eyes aren't brown) purchased ~4 months ago.
Foundation: Cover Girl - I thought it was the same one that I had at home. I learned while taking these pictures that it is not.  Purchased the same day as the eye shadow. I used to have 1 bag for makeup and I got sick of having to put it in and out of my gym bag.
Eyeliner: Cover Girl. I tried to buy the same 2 days ago but failed. Purchased the same day as the other 2 items.
Blush: From a make-up kit I got in early high school and never used.
Lipstick:  CoverGirl 554 ... that they don't sell anymore at Target and it's my favorite. They tell me to try 551. Maybe I should. I have tried 555 and 556 and don't like either as much.
Powder: CoverGirl to put on over my foundation.   Purchased the same day as the rest.  Now I don't normally wear foundation or powder but after the gym I almost always do for 2 reasons. 1. To cover my red face from working out. 2. Because seeing all the other girls get ready and put on makeup, I felt like I should wear more. They spend forever putting on makeup.

Makeup at home
Oi I just realized I don't have my purple eyeliner in this picture. I wonder where it is. I haven't used it in a long time...

Blush: Cover Girl - purchased the same days as the stuff above.
Eyeshadow: Delia's back in eye school.
Eyeliner: Covergirl (new) and NYC (old)
Trublend foundation: I either use this or the liquid one in the right corner
Eyeshadow: NYC (purchased about a year ago)
Powder: Trublend - purchased when most of the stuff was purchased for my bag at the gym.
solid foundation or whatever the compact is: Cover Girl - purchased the day of my Westinghouse interview (November 16, 2005)
Lipsticks:
Lancome It Girl (1 week ago purchase)
Cover Girl 015 Born with it (purchased 2 days ago)
Cover Girl 205 (purchased 2 days ago)
Cover Girl all day wear 556
Nutrogena Brightening Eye perfector (purchased 2 days ago)

All make-up purchased at Target except the Lacome lipstick (Macy's), the foundation compact (Kmart), eyeshadow with purple (Delia's), Blush in work bag (Sam's Club).
Including things that I purchased two days ago and haven't even worn makes it seem like I have a ton of makeup.
Also half the days I don't wear any of the foundations.
Everyday that I leave the house I wear lipstick, eyeshadow, and eyeliner. If I wear foundation or blush, it's for an added bonus. Sometimes I wear it just to look nicer in my daily picture.

I love the CoverGirl stay on lipcolor. It's wonderful.  I love the eyeliner in my work bag. I couldn't even find it at Target this last time.

I miss my eyeshadow from highschool that was the perfect shade of brown and had a thing that you put on first that made the eye shadow last. It was Cover Girl.  The one in my work bag has the thing that makes it last but it's not as good.
I used to love NYC eyeliner because it went on so smooth but lately I discovered the Cover Girl one and it was self sharpening so I don't need an eyeliner sharpener so it's better.  For awhile I used the eyeliner that was liquid but like a pen (instead of a brush and tube kind of like mascara is) but that ran out 3 days ago (why I had to buy new eyeliner)

My  mom tells me all the time how she loves my eyes with mascara but that's too much work. The waterproof kind never remove right even with my eye makeup remover. I look like a raccoon in the morning even when I try to remove it. I bought some non-waterproof kind recently but just slacked at putting it on and then they say that stuff lasts 3-4 months so I just threw it away after about 6 months.

I also used to use an eyelash curler in middle school and high school. I really thought that made my lashes look better but I cut that out of my routine and now I don't even have an eyelash curler. I remember wishing I had one on my wedding day; that was about it.

Check out what's in Kendi's makeup bag. (I just realized Kendi's pictures are better because she opened the makeup so you can actually see the colors.

So what is your favorite makeup?  Also make your own post and link it here; I'd love to see it.
How long does your makeup last?

I have noticed that some people say they don't wear makeup and then they take longer to put on their makeup than I do. I don't get it. If you wear makeup admit it and share your secrets. Also I know many guys who claim they don't like girls to wear makeup yet their girlfriends wear makeup and all the girls they point out as being good looking are wearing makeup.   I think makeup is a great thing. I'd probably wear more or different stuff if I discovered some secret to make me look even more awesome. I say even more because I already look awesome. ;)

I think later I will put makeup on half my face and make a post about that. I would do it now but I'm lazy and still in my PJs.

9.28.10

Shirt: Ann Taylor Loft
Cardigan: Kohl's
Pants: Express (I think. It's hard to tell with my black pants in pictures which pair they are.)
Shoes: Famous Footwear
Necklace: Target
Belt: American Eagle Outfitters

I'm surprised by the amount I've been wearing these shoes. I didn't think I'd wear them so much when I bought them.  When I bought them, I didn't think how I'd be wearing more pants in the fall winter and that my pants aren't long enough for heels.  I guess I got lucky.  Also I didn't think about how my knee would be bothering me so I would want "flats" to wear even though these are wedges, they are the closest to flats that I own for black shoes.

I worked, did yoga, and watched TV. Not an eventful day.

I always have to throw in some pictures of Poly.

Emphasis

To emphasize what color in the Color Rotation it is, I have done this so far.  I am not sure if I have the time to keep it up. I probably would if I were a photoshop expert but I will probably fumble around with it each and every time until probably day 20.

Day 2 - Red (10.2.10)

I was looking at Poly looking at me from inside the sliding glass door.
 Day 2: Red
Shirt: Express (2009)
Cardigan: Express
Belt: Target
Jeans: Express
Shoes: Famous Footwear
Necklace: Sears
Earrings: Target

I took these pictures at 11:00 AM and was super excited to upload them only to learn my card reader does not work. I had to hook up my camera to the computer. Well that upload started to upload all 791 pictures from my camera.  It was a huge ordeal. Then I couldn't find where they were uploaded too.  I didn't have time to find it before I had to leave. It was open house at my work and my parents and brother were attending.  Then we went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch. I picked so I picked something 40 minutes away instead of something 30 seconds from work.
The belt didn't work out so well because I've developed love handles recently.
Also at Texas Roadhouse I got so full that I pushed the belt up higher.
My brother said to me "I can't believe you wore that" and kept making fun of having a belt like I had.

Don't forget to let me know if you are doing this challenge.  I know of 2 people doing it but neither one has a blog, therefore I made a picasa gallery for people to upload but the only way I know how to let them upload is to share the album with them.  If you don't have a blog, but want to participate, let me know and I can let you upload to the picasa. I'll post that link on here in a few days once I get the pictures that were emailed to me on there.

What do you think of this casual outfit? I think I need new jeans. I never like how these photograph.  Well maybe I just need to learn how to stand better.
I took pictures outside two days in a row. Perhaps I can start a new trend.  I cannot wait to go out in the snow and take a few pictures.  Before work the lighting is bad so I will probably stick to my indoor pictures for weekdays.  We shall see.

I'm glad orange fell on a weekend so I can wear my too casual for work orange shirt.

Color Rotation Summary
  1. Pink Express Knit
  2. Red Express Cardigan

Old Jewelry Box

My grandma gave me this jewelry box years ago.  I don't even remember using it (perhaps because it didn't match my white furniture growing up).

I went into my parents attic a few weeks ago to get my old fabric and I found it.  My mom used scratch polish and also cleaned the mirrors. It looks really nice.  My problem is that it does not match any of the woods in my house.  Should I use it?  Should I give it to my mom? She likes it and it matches the wood in her master bedroom. Should I use it anyway even though it clearly doesn't go with anything else in the room?  In the picture above you can kind of see my other jewelry box.  All my jewelry doesn't fit in there. I also store my chunky necklaces in the top of my chest of drawers under the TV.

9.25.10 - Saturday

Boots: Famous Footwear
Shirt: B Moss (2006)
Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft
(This outfit was before I made my boot plea post.)
I did get a compliment on the boots.

I put new towels up in our bathroom in the hallway upstairs.  This replaces a blue and a bunch of white towels. Poly watched while I set them up.  I didn't even shower until about 2:00 PM. I'm not even sure what I did in the morning. I think I mainly read blogs. I read too many blogs. I find at least 5 new blogs a week to follow too. This is getting bad. I can't keep up. I probably read 50x more blogs than people read mine.  (I read card making blogs, fashion blogs, friends blogs, and a few exercise blogs.)

I had to pick up my race packet by 5:00. Friday I had invited Haley over for Chicken Parm that I was making. Well that invite morphed into going out on Saturday and trying some new place she wanted to try. She gave me a list.  I gave it to Dave. He kept not looking at it. Then he finally did and refused to go.  So I was just going to go to pick-up my packet on the Southside and that would be it. Well Haley told me to go out anyway and we went to PF Changs. Well that was a place Dave would have gone.  Oh Well. Huge ordeal. At least it wasn't too bad.

I got to shop at the Waterfront before and after dinner.   I shopped longer because Dave had called me to tell me the power was out. After a little bit he called to tell me why.  A car had hit a telephone pole and flipped. I don't know if it was alcohol related or deer related or what.  He was life flighted away.   Around midnight the power came back on.  This meant I had to get everything ready for my race using a flashlight. It wasn't fun. I was already stressed enough. No time to print directions to get to a parking garage downtown.   Walking around for an hour and then 1.5 hours later kind of hurt my feet. I probably should have gotten the 10 instead of the 9.5 but if I don't walk around a ton they are OK. And the 10 were a lot looser in the leg.

Day 1 - Pink (10.1.10) and Shopping

PINK
The first picture outside
Windy

Skirt, Shirt, Cardigan: Express - purchased over more than a 1 year span
Earrings: Kohl's (My first pair of dangly earrings. purchased prior to 2005)
Necklace: Target
Shoes: Famous Footwear

To celebrate Day 1 of my Color Rotation Challenge, I got daring and took pictures outside with my tripod. It wasn't so daring because I'm off work today. Usually I don't have that kind of time before work and after work I come home in workout clothes and it is dark.  It's not too late to join. You can join any time and start with any color.  If it was the middle of the summer I would have worn my white shoes (I did on August 6 and June 27), but it's not so I wore my black shoes. I need bright shoes or something.  What should would you wear with this?  It was 64 degrees today.

I wore this outfit to Famous Footwear, Target, Kohl's, TJ Maxx, and Sunoco.  (Gas was $2.75/gallon and I got $40.25 worth of it) I got home and was too cold with all the windows opened so I put on my PJ pants right away. Plus the shoes started the aggravate my bunion.
Famous Footwear: Replacement black heels and new running shoes.
Why is it that running shoes are all so ugly.  I only took my slim fit orthotics with me. I don't think my other orthotics will work. I tried on a ton of shoes. I put back all the shoes that I tried on but didn't like. Many other women there did not. It was so annoying. I almost did not have a spot to sit to try them on.

New Balance: 74.99 on sale for 69.99. I had a spend 75 get 15 off so end result was 59.59
Black shoes: on clearance for $30 but then with my coupon they ended up being $25.50

The rest was purchased at Target for a total of 142.97. (Counting gas, I spent $268.21... eek. my husband is going to stop telling me to buy as much as I want one of these days.)
I got tights per Ashley's suggestion the other day.
Somehow the 2 pack were $10 and the other ones rang up as $10 even though I swore the sign said $7.
I thought the purse was 20 and I liked it.  It was 29.99. I'm a little disappointed. I'm not sure how much I wear brown so I don't know if I should have gotten it.
Cardigan was on sale for 18. Now I have a cardigan that is brown... yippee.
I hate when I get to Target and then can't remember the kind of eyeliner or the kind of lipstick that I'm replacing.  This is the wrong eyeliner. I totally guessed buying lighter pink lipstick that Dave likes and both are wonderful.  I splurged and got the foundation thing for around my eyes. It's probably stupid. We will see.
I'm sick of having my brushes in a ziplock when I go to the gym so I bought this. It was an impulse buy for $11.99 but I did have reason for it.
 Black Necklace: 4.99
Earrings (that are longer than any other earrings I own by about double): 5.99
2 pairs of earrings (even though I'll probably only wear one): 4.99

Oh I also bought a ton of easy mac and velveeta shells and cheese too.
Poly was jealous so I took her picture

9.22.10 - barely dressed

I worked from home Wednesday. I was in my PJs most of the day. I showered after the work day was over and got dressed to eat dinner and watch TV.  Poly slept on my lap while I worked.

Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft (2009)
Shirt: Express (2006)
Boots: Famous Footwear
Necklace: Walmart

Why is it that all my newer clothes need to be ironed and my older clothes don't?  I'm sick of all the Ann Taylor Loft Skirts that I have that can be worn to work all need to be ironed. It's so annoying.

My husband commented that I shouldn't work in my PJs and I should wear my new boots. I got it in my head that I had to wear my boots then.  He was just joking. Other times I've gotten dressed and he tells me that I'm supposed to telecommute from my PJs.

Friend Friday: Highlighting the Negative

1. Do you post pictures on your blog, or would you if the opportunity came along, of people with poor fashion//beauty sense? I only post pictures that I take, I guess if someone happens to have poor fashion sense (me) then maybe that would go up. I mainly post pictures of me. Sometimes I probably don't look that great.  If I ever dislike my outift, it may still be an OK outfit, but then I write about what I could have done differently to improve it. I think that's OK. I don't link to other blogs or pictures of things that look bad. I don't even look at that stuff myself.

2. Do you read any blogs that highlight the bad? Why? I do not. I barely have enough time to read about the good. I don't have time to waste reading about the bad.

3. Should these bloggers get permission to post the pictures from the subject in the same way the street-style blogs do? I wouldn't even consider posting pictures of others so I have no idea. I would hope so. Sometimes when I'm posting a picture of me with my friends, I feel like I need to get their OK before posting it.

4. As human beings we are fascinated with disasters - of all sorts - why do you think that is? How to the blogs/websites that highlight the negative thrive? Some people want to know what others think is bad so they can be sure not to do it. My semi-positive blog doesn't even get hits. I don't know how all the negative ones get hits.

5. For many, fashion is subjective. Do you think, there can be anything that is objectively bad in the fashion world? I'm not sure. I know there are things that I dislike on me and they look great on other people and vice versa. There may be a few things that I have never seen look good, but that does not mean that they cannot look good. I really have no idea. I work with people who can't match and wear things together that don't go that I think I have gotten used to it and I don't even notice the outfits not going anymore.  (One of the things I used to notice and now it just blurs in my head is when I see someone with blue pants, brown shoes, and a black belt. I'm less observant than I used to be.
