6.24

I got dressed. I really did. I just forgot to take my daily picture. This used to happen all the time, but it hasn't happened since I started doing the blog.
I did some stuff in the yard. I went for a walk. I thought I'd workout and never did.  I went to a happy hour that lasted 6.5 hours.
Overall it was a great day. I really enjoyed talking to people from the gym and the old trainers. I would have never stayed at happy hour until 10:30 if it wasn't fun. I heard lots of stories. I talked about working out. We all complained about things.

6.23 - Picnic

Shirt: Loft
Skirt: Atleta
Shoes: Target
Necklaces from smallest to longest, Sears, Sears, F21

So I put on 3 necklaces and asked Dave which one I should wear, but he thought I was asking if all three looked good and he thought they did so I wore all three.  It was the first time wearing the yellow/silver necklace. One of the hoops was broken. It comes undone. I still wore it the whole day but I guess I have to throw it away now. It mostly stayed together while wearing it, but every now and then I'd look down and see both strands just hanging there. If I was moving around, I would have just lost the necklace. At least I only paid $4.99 for it.

It is hard to tell from the picture but this skirt is more athletic than dressy so I cannot wear dressy shirts with it or it does not look right. The skirt has a little pocket inside like athletic pants do.
This is not what you should look like when leaving a picnic.

So work was extremely busy. Then I had to head to the picnic. I was originally supposed to be out of town, but since I wasn't, I ended up in charge of some stuff. (what else is new) Right before it was time to leave for the picnic, it started raining. It was raining so hard on my drive there that it was rough seeing to drive.

Once there, it only rained for about 5 more minutes which was good. There were picnic tables that weren't under the pavilion and the picnic chair thought of putting the table clothes on the seat so people didn't get soaked. That was good.
NA-YGN had their yearly summer picnic. I was one of 6 people to win a basket. I didn' really want any of them. I don't know how I picked the one I did. I actually wanted a "movie" themed one with candy but I had to save the non-alcoholic ones for the people under 21 who won.
These sunglasses were in the basket I won along with sunless tanner, glow sticks, red bull, and jeugermeister.  Someone had to tell me later that there is a drink with the alcohol and the red bull. Shows what I know. Anyone want to come over and drink it?
The picnic had a cornhole tournament.  We also did an ice breaker game. Lots of prizes were involved.  Because of the heavy rain, the turnout was less than expected, but still good.

Well now to the reason my outfit looked like it did at the end of the night.   I was cleaning up. There was a ton of leftover food due to the lower turnout. We had to-go containers. We were packing them up. I had one with the barbecue chicken in it. Once we were mostly cleaned up, I was walking all my stuff to the car. This may sound easy but I had the basket I won, a big golf umbrella (since it was raining when I arrived), my purse, a bag with different supplies in it, my folder for the ice breaker, and 2 to go containers.  Well when I got to the car, I looked down and the chicken container must have been angled the way I was carrying it and all the sauce was all down the front of me. I didn't feel it since I had a cami on under the shirt. I was originally planning on going back up to finish cleaning up but I didn't want everyone to see me so I hurried out of there. I felt bad about it.  Plus Jen was driving me home since Dave wanted to leave earlier and she didn't plan on staying late to clean up or even staying until the end of the picnic. I knew better than to try to carpool with Dave to get to the thing, but if I didn't, he wouldn't have gone at all. I can never win.

In case you are wondering, I pre-treated the shirt and skirt with Shout spray. Then I did that again. Then I washed it. My clothes are no longer stained.

July 12 is everybodyeverwear day but I'm so behind on posting. I'm about 8 days behind so I just had to go with an old one. I'm sorry I cheated.

A Day's Worth of Twitter

12:51:16 PM - 47 minutes of lower body weight lifting. my legs are fatigued.
09:48:14 PM - I'm going to be sore tomorrow. Had a second weight lifting session for upper body. Total weight lifting time today = 90 minutes
09:49:35 PM - oi I never took my daily picture today :( jeans and plaid
11:26:36 PM - Just finished a second book in about a week. No wonder my blog reading has declined.

Photo of the Day: Glasses

My brother got some fake glasses for Christmas back in 2004.  Almost everyone in our family enjoyed wearing them.

Who or what wears the glasses the best? The white stuffed animal is my favorite.

My brother uploaded the picture of me recently to facebook and I've been thinking how I should post it. Then Sarah recently made a post where she wore a fake mustache a lot so I figured I should finally get around to making this post.

6.22 - Work instead of Vacation

Well by "work instead vacation" I mean telecommuting instead of vacation. I was exhausted from my long day the day before.  I was productive. It felt like bonus days.
Does your job allow you to telecommute? Do you take excessive pictures of your pets when you are home?
I did mow after work. I didn't have to mow the night before because of my lack of vacation.  It was so weird to be home though.  I felt like all my time at home was bonus so I felt more accomplished when I got something done instead of feeling lazy not getting everything done.

A Day's Worth of Twitter

01:37:17 AM - Tonight I stayed up watching brothers and sisters. The previous nights it was reading. 6 episodes. I'm caught up now.
11:48:05 AM - Tuna to go takes me too long to eat. It's hard to eat it while working. the cracker breaks and I have tuna on me.
11:18:22 PM - I need to run tomorrow. No excuses. I already made excuses 6 of the last 7 days.

6.21 - No Vacation

I was presenting to Explorer Scouts so I wore my Westinghouse polo. I never wear them and hate having clothes I don't wear.

Skirt: Loft - 2009
Shoes: Famous Footwear - 2009

Boy do I need a haircut

I think this truck is open by mistake. While driving I could see things moving slightly around in there.

I only did a little presenting to 40 Explorer Scouts. The presentation I did followed an excellent presenter so I was more nervous than usually.  I never like following someone good because I'm not that good.

I was busy like crazy at work trying to get a million things done before going on vacation.  I was still at work at 6:45 PM and get a call from my brother. He goes on to tell me the trip to Colorado is cancelled. I can't believe it. After 5 minutes, we get off the phone and I got rid of my out of office email response. At least he called me shortly before I made my out of office voice mail. I hate making a new voice mail message.  Well I missed my workout for nothing. I also worked late for nothing. I was already partially packed too.   At least I don't have to miss out on the picnic and going away celebration.

My mom was happy that my brother and I weren't going to Colorado because she was worried we would die.  We were going to drive out with Callie, then hang out with her and camp with her, then fly back.

I really wanted to go. The main thing I was looking forward to was running with Callie, with the high elevation of Leadville that might have been awful.

Do you go on vacation each year? Have you ever had a vacation cancelled or postponed?

A Day's Worth of Twitter

12:29:08 AM - Well I keep falling asleep reading. I guess these last 5 pages will be for tomorrow.
07:18:16 AM - I'm tired. My sleep schedule is so messed up. I'm so hot in my house that I don't feel like running. But this will be the best time today.
11:44:14 AM - How does Dave always mess up making instant mashed potatoes?
10:00:46 PM - Just used the exercise bike and was sweating like crazy.

6.25 - Poly

I didn't put music to the photo montage because the last few times I have then it won't create and just stays in draft mode in my picasa.

I spent the first part of the day reading about running. Then when I finally went running, it was hot. I didn't like it. I only did 2.5 miles.  Then I went shopping for some books with Dave. We came home and rested on the bed. Then fell asleep. I even had on my shoes. Poly slept on me for 2 hours. I was awake for 30 minutes at the end but didn't want to disturb her.  This nap messed up my plans.

Overall it was a nice Saturday. It wasn't stressful. I didn't get much done. Sometimes that is good.
These pants used to be too big. I even kept them in another closet.  They fit now. The only trouble is the rise is a little too low so I need a belt and still sometimes I'm afraid I'll end up mooning someone if I have to bend over.  I just have to choose a shirt wisely.

03:22:13 PM - @wrkngmomscloset I wouldn't use either. You should see some of the emails I get some slang that I don't even understand.
09:24:54 PM - Just napped on the couch with Poly.
11:00:13 PM - It is a bit late to be hearing bass.
11:25:39 PM - My nap ruined my sleep schedule. And my workout schedule.

6.20

Pants: Express (Size 4)
Shirt: NY&Co (Size XS and my arms don't fit it in anymore)
Necklace: Kohl's
Bracelet: NY&Co.
Shoes: Famous Footwear

When I bought these pants I always wore them with white. Since then I have learned that other shirts I have match and kind of forgotten about wearing white, so I made it a point to do it again.
This might have been the first time I wore a bracelet on the same wrist as my watch. I only own a few bracelets and always forget to wear them.  I remembered here but forgot about wearing earrings.
I was about to wake up and Poly came up on me and was purring. I couldn't get up with that so I petted her instead of getting ready for work.
As an after dinner snack, we were going to eat some chips with dip. I looked in the cupboard and there were three partial bags of chips. Two of those were expired.  Our pantry needs to be cleaned out.

A Day's Worth of Twitter

12:57:50 AM - I stayed up too late reading.
01:42:10 AM - Wow I will be tired tomorrow. This book is good. It makes me want @iamoddd to write a book about her races.

08:59:56 AM - 26:39
09:18:02 AM - @lisafilipek well the winning time was 15 min. I was about 15 sec slower than last year and a little sick this year. So I think good for me.
09:49:29 AM - @lisafilipek I came in 2nd in my age group (nobody amazing runs my age group)
09:55:29 AM - Also this year prizes were better. I got $40 in Dicks sporting goods gift cards.
10:37:36 AM - I need to get 5 min faster or in 2 years I'll never place in my age group. I'm glad barely anyone runs my current age group though.

10:02:38 PM - I can't hear my TV over the fireworks and 4th of July noises outside

5k Race (7.4.11)

My first race 2 years ago was the Race for Virginia. I ran it last year too so it was my plan to run it again.  I like to compare the times for the same race.
Well this morning I woke up with an upset stomach. I was also tired. I stayed up later than 1:30 reading.  I started to get ready for the race anyway. Then I decided I would not run it. I texted Brie hoping she didn't leave for the race yet so I was able to back out with more ease. Well then I texted Christina to tell her I was not going. She said I should. Then I thought since it's the last year for this race, I could go take pictures.  Well I went to do just that. Then I registered and ran the thing.  The adrenaline sure helped my stomach think I was better. (It wasn't. It was a trick. My stomach is very upset now as I type this.) I felt bad because I told Brie I wouldn't run and told her not to come and then I went and ran it. (Sorry Brie)
Before the race
During the introduction, the race director cried again. This is the 10th and final year for the Race for Virginia and his lost the battle with cancer before her 9th birthday.

I started out slow or what I thought was slow. I didn't push myself a ton. I look down at my Garmin and realize my slow pace was about an 8 minute mile pace 3/4 of a mile in.  I keep running. It was pretty hot. I had sweat dripping in my eyes.  I was hoping to get 8, 9, 9, and 1 for the splits. I figured 27 minutes might be doable. While I was running I realized last year after only a couple hours of sleep in hot weather I had a race worse than 27 minutes so then I started second guessing my goals.
I really wanted to hit around 25 minutes for this race but then I didn't get to train in the spring properly. I didn't have someone to push me along. (I'm just full of excuses.) I hadn't been training well so I almost didn't want to run just for that. Why race when you can't improve?  So when I woke up with a stomach ache, I figured it was a convenient excuse not to run. Then I wouldn't have to tell people I didn't run because I thought I'd suck and that I didn't run because my stomach was all upset.
After the race
After I ran I went to get a donut. I got a muchkin. I ate half of it and felt like I was going to pass out so Christina and I went and sat on the ground.  Then I got some Rita's and ate a little bit of that.   After 35 minutes or so, they had awards.  I didn't even look at the times good enough to see that I had placed in my age group.  I came in 2nd again.  I would have to be 2-3 minutes faster in the other age groups to place. I really want to improve my time to get to it.

Last year I got a $10 giftcard for coming in 2nd. This year I got 4 $10 gift cards.  With registration, I got $10. So I got a total of $50. My registration fee was $20 so this was my first profitable race.

In 2009, I was 15th in my age group.  In 2010 and 2011, I came in 2nd in my age group.  Last year by this time, I had 4 medals.  This year I have 2.
After I got home, Poly cuddled with me even though I was sweaty and smelled.
Garmin map
My Garmin didn't think it was a full 3.1 but if you look at the map, it didn't quite have all the lines drawn properly.
BodyMedia Fit
2010 - Post race picture. I was about 10 lbs lighter there.
Official results:  http://runhigh.com/2011RESULTS/R070411CB.HTML

6.19 - Father's Day

I took these pictures after I ate. Not the best idea. Also the skirt is a large so it is pretty loose.
Skirt: F21
Shirt: Express
Shoes: Famous Footwear
We cooked for my family. Look at my roasted potatoes. I took a picture because of the recipe I recently posted where I couldn't find a picture.  There was grilled pineapple and salad that aren't shown in the pictures.  The chair over there in the middle of the hallway was my smoke alarm chair.  A pizza broke recently in the oven and we did not clean it yet so the smoke alarm was constantly going off. I had to run over, jump on the chair, and push the alarm button so that the fire department didn't show up.  The bag is on the chair because my shoes might have left a mark on the chair material.
My parents hung out for a few hours. Poly was the center of attention. Well that or my parents new laptop. Dave was setting stuff up for them.
Then they left and I was bored. I am always at a loss right after company leaves.

A Day's Worth of Twitter

12:25:29 AM - I just spent 45 min cleaning &organizing. But now 90% of the pantry is all over the kitchen instead of put away. @polahbea will be surprised
01:03:19 AM - Started reading another book by Dean Karnazes. @TracyMorganLove got me hooked.
09:13:12 AM - I ht snooze. Why did OT stop going off?
10:59:43 AM - We didn't hear the neighbors bass for about a month, but it is back today.
12:09:40 PM - Well it's already noon and the stuff from the pantry is still all over the kitchen.
05:05:12 PM - Poly and I took a nap together on the chair. I kept going back to sleep because she was so cute.
11:54:44 PM - Nervous about my 5k tomorrow. You'd think I'd be over being nervous in these short races.

You can find me as @smilincolleen on Twitter.

6.18 - Productive

My desk is so messy. Poly seems to love my messy desk.
Well I wore one of the shirts that I gave myself a month to wear or I'd have to get rid of it. Now I don't have to get rid of it.
Shirt: Charlotte Russe (2003)
Jeans: Express (~2007)
Shoes: Brooks (some online site) (2010)
Belt: Target (2010)

I had a to do list and started off my day being so productive. I had a lot to get done. I was actually pretty productive, but I also kept adding things to the list. I added more to it than I got done. All the productivity made me exhausted. Sometimes Poly got in my way. I was putting away the laundry and she kept going on my piles of clothes. I started new piles so it all looks like it's a mess. She sure was cute so I stopped putting it away. I was exhausted so I took a little nap. I set my alarm for 40 minutes. Apparently I turned it off and went back to sleep for a few hours. I thought I reset the timer but I never hit start.  Well that nap was enough to ruin the day.
I saw Poly on the step stool. She only goes on things and looks up when she has her eye on a bug. Well sure enough there was one.  I attempted to take care of it but it got away. Then I watched it. Dave saw me watching, so he decided not to look up and exit the room. He does not like bugs.  I was able to get it the second time. It was a pretty big bug but I don't know what kind.  So who kills the bugs in your family?  Growing up my dad used to do it but now I have to. Also now I have to stand on chairs or step stools to get at bugs and my dad was so tall he could just reach. I miss the days when I didn't have to handle it.
Well because I napped, I wasn't tired at the end of the night. I read for quite some time. Poly joined me. She made it difficult to hold my book though. I suffered so she could be comfortable.

A Day's Worth of Twitter

12:05:25 AM - Dave kept me up too late. Then I fell asleep and he woke me up asking if I fell asleep.
09:08:32 AM - @FashionMomma22 what will you do with your time that 3 weeks?
09:14:48 AM - One too. Never thought about it before. RT @TheNewChrissy: My sports bras outnumber my regular bras. #runner
09:38:44 AM - @FashionMomma22 you'll have more time to workout without having to nanny. Glad you are motivated to exercise
03:52:48 PM - I'm here getting ready to alter my skirt and poly comes over ad sits on it http://lockerz.com/s/116357930
03:53:36 PM - I slid the skirt out from under her. Put it down and she got up and moved http://lockerz.com/s/116358262
07:02:11 PM - @mikecherepko I'm at a new shop n save and people are complaining about the price of limes $.89
07:15:56 PM - Donut fair. Yay. The lights here make OT seem prettier but they don't have most of what I want.
11:18:32 PM - 1 skirt altered. I winged it. Probably shouldn't have picked the worst fabrics to start out. At least the worst is done.
11:34:06 PM - I got my second wind. To read my new running book or to do something productive or to just read blogs.

6.17 - Pizza Sola

Wow this outfit felt a lot better than it looks here.
Shirt: Kohl's
Skirt: Express
Shoes: Famous Footwear
Necklace: Sears

I feel like I'm Cinderella in these shoes.  Now I mean the Cinderella that is cleaning and not the dressed up all nice at the ball Cinderella. I just googled her and you can barely tell her shoes and they don't really look like this so I don't know why I feel that way.  I feel like when I wear these, I look a little weird, but then when I see others wearing shoes like this, they look awesome... I wonder why that is. I bet it has to do with the fact that I feel like Cinderella.
The detail on the sleeve and my necklace.

Dave and I tried out this new pizza place for lunch.  It was a little further away than where we normally go for lunch. It's right by Five Guys. Well I liked it. Dave thought the pizza should have been thinner, especially since it was advertised like New York style pizza.  My problem was that one slice is not enough food and I only ordered one. Dave's problem was that 2 slices was 2 much and he ordered two.  He also was disappointed that he started with the cheese pizza instead of the one with toppings because he would have liked the toppings better. I was disappointed with that too because I didn't want the sausage. I tried to eat the rest of his 2nd piece but couldn't handle the sausage taste even after taking the sausage off.  At least we learned for next time.  I thought the crust was very good. I also liked the  face that there wasn't a ton of sauce. I think an extra fresh pizza would have been even better.  When we were there, they had a fresh pepperoni one. I wanted to go buy a slice of that just to see.

They make a bunch of pizzas there, have them sitting out. You can choose one of those with the toppings or choose one with close to the toppings you want and then they'll add the other ones you want.  Then they reheat the pizza so you get nice warm pizza.  Dave is never a big fan of reheated pizza cheese so he didn't like it that much. It didn't phase me but I think if I had a super fresh one, then I would have known.   I also noticed that my crust was more cooked than the one Dave was eating. That could be another reason for our mixed reviews of Pizza Sola. What's your favorite pizza place?
Poly explored a lot of different places throughout the day. My closet door was open just a few inches and she had to go exploring in there.  I really should go through the junk in those boxes in there.
Right before bed, I read while Poly spent some more time exploring.  Finally she decided to quit bothering me and rest on a bag.

6.16 - Nothing Special

Necklace: Gift
Cardigan: Kohl's
Tank: NY&Co
Pants: VS
Shoes: Target

I felt like the lady from The Mentalist (who was the lawyer on Prison Break) It was the tucked in shirt and the lower waisted pants that made me feel like her. Her tucked in shirts are usually button down though.
I slept in. I don't think my alarms worked properly but it was probably user error. I made coffee before work for the 2nd time in the past 5 years.  Man was I tired.
Poly was on the floor in the hallway when I was walking to bed. She gave out her warning meow but I didn't know where she was. I turned on the light and saw that I was about to run into her.
