today i went to body pump at lunch (45 min) I did not stay for chseled core.
Then after work I went to spinning (46 min). I did not stay for chiseled core again but my abs are still sore from chiseled core yesterday.

My face turned all red at spinning. It barely turned red at pump. It turned red yesterday at combat.
I've gone to the gym 4 times in 3 days.
I probably won't get to go tomorrow and Friday will be tough so I was maxing out.
I only went once last week or worked out once for that matter.

My go wear fit says I took a lot of steps during spinning class!

Body Combat and Running seem to be the only 2 things that really put me in the vigorous activity range (above 6.0 METs). I look at lots of tables and they say most of the stuff I do should put me in there, but it doesn't.






Body Pump was 11:45-12:30 (over a little late though) and spinning was 5-5:45 (over late and the 3-5 minutes before it started i was slowly pedaling)

plans

my plans for the week
Monday night: move furniture from family room into living room and figure out how to arrange.
Then move the stuff from the dining room out and move the table off center so it's easier for the guys to get the buffet in there.
Tuesday night: admire new furniture and figure out what lamps to buy or borrow from the rest of the house. and wish there was time to buy new lamps
Wednesday night: dinner with JD
or maybe that's Thursday
buying lamps the other night.
Also wednesday night is make brownies for my group meeting.

I want to fit in cleaning but that will never happen.

yesterday

yesterday I went to breakfast (a new place that was crowded that there was a wait), went to target and spent 250 bucks, bought paint, painted the living room, went to a late dinner with JD. This was nonstop from about 10am until 10:30 pm.

I haven't exercised since Monday. I haven't done cardio since before that. I suck. I miss training for a race. I miss longer daylight hours.

I want to make new LJ icons.
I want to do so much.

I want a maid.

yesterday i was extremely tired
i slept about 2 hours on the couch during a movie then we went upstairs. i kind of wasn't super tired anymore to go to sleep.

relationships

Mainly yesterday I realized how I don't know how to be a normal girl. Most things when I'm not a normal girl are good. But this isn't. I don't think I know how to properly console a friend. I don't know how to listen right.
I also suck at hugs. Everyone tells me how it's awkward to hug me or that i'm so unapproachable.

My friend, Haley, Broke up with her boyfriend. Yesterday morning I get an email asking if she can spend the week here. I say OK. She promised Jason she would talk to him after work. I knew he would try to get her to stay. Well she ended up staying the night at the house. (They live together in a house for over 2 years. The house is in Jason's name. They dated for 12 days shy of 3 years.) Well Haley talked to Jason after he got home from work. She said it was awful, but then she spent the night there. I think I'm supposed to be a better friend about this and tell her she has made her decision and don't stay the night with him. I don't know. I don't want to seem pushy.

She has been talking the last few months about how he wasn't the one. I've been telling her that she needs to break up with him sooner rather than later. It will be hard either way and it will be harder if you wait longer. Hard on both of them. I don't want them to be hurting but she knows how she feels and can't get over it.

Over a year ago they had picked out an engagement ring but then Haley had decided she wasn't ready.

Haley had been letting her hair grow long because she "didn't want it short for the wedding" but then 3 weeks ago or so she cut it so that was another sign I figured it was coming.

I was actually friends with Jason first but he doesn't stay in contact now that we aren't in the same group. I have this feeling that he's going to hate me or hate me and Dave or something since we are helping her now. Ugh.

I've realized nobody has ever talked to me about a breakup before. I've also rarely been friends with both parties of the relationship. I was friends with Kate and Adam and actually talked to them both (adam infrequently) since they broke up. It was over 2 months after they broke up that I actually learned about it. Sheesh. Kate thought I knew. I told someone else and he said he knew because facebook had listed her as single. That along with missing out that a friend was engaged have caused me to pay more attention to facebook.

The past 2 nights I had trouble sleeping.
The past 2 nights I try to fall asleep and Dave yelling about the baseball game keeps me awake.
I also couldn't sleep this morning so I've been up for a half hour playing with my numbers.

(this is the email i sent my mom and dave but i'm a big slacker so i'm not revising it)

Initially I was going to apply to CMU and Pitt. I thought Westinghouse would pay Pitt prices.

Well initially I was applying to CMU with basically no intention of going there. I thought it was too expensive and not worth it

based on this weekend a degree from CMU is well worth it over other schools especially if you want to leave the Pittsburgh area or leave your current company. and if you if i plan to stay at westinghouse I probably won't be promoted at all so it wouldn't be worth it.



CMU stuff

the small class size was good to hear

actually hearing about how everyone isn't out for themselves but that people actually help everyone out

that they do things (lots of clubs and social events) and not just school

The professors that we met seem really intelligent.

The course load is really intense (which is really good for learning)

since they have minis you get a lot of courses in (course is half the length of a semester so 4 Minis instead of 2 semesters)

wide variety of choices

lots of different concentrations (can actually have multiple concentrations)



the bad part is that there are no merit scholarships for part time.

I was told by someone in the admissions office that the GMAT and GPA average scores are very similar for part time and full (which scares me because my GMAT is low. but the one lady from the admissions department said to call her this week and she will go over my specifics compared to averages and provide suggestions (like if I should retake the GMAT or if I should do the optional essay or what I should mention in the optional essay)



the average starting salary in 2009 of CMU MBA graduations was about 100,000 (a little higher). (the range was like 50,000-143,000… I have these numbers written down but I'm going by memory) the median was 100,000 exactly. and that's lower than previous years due to the economy. plus 85% of people got signing bonuses that averaged over 20,000 bucks



Students who work part time, don't take full advantage of the on campus recruiting. if I plan to stay at Westinghouse after a degree, I bet I wouldn't even get any promotion at all so it's like I would have to leave.

so basically right now I think work won't pay at all or I won't stay long enough for it to matter after I'm done. so I don't even know if I can go or not or when. I may have to wait until Dave is done with his masters and we are screwed with that and he will have to pay 13,000 at least but maybe more. And we have probably about 95,000 in students loans as it is and this mortgage. there's no way we could do schooling for both of us and still live here. I still want to apply since the application fees aren't that much and see where it goes. Dave said I should apply to CMU for full time and then see from there what we should do. there are lost more decision things but I doubt you want to hear them. you can apply for full time and easily change to part time but you cannot apply for part time and easily change to full time.


I just looked up some numbers and Pitt starting salaries after MBA are about 40,000 less but who knows if that data is right .. and that was from a couple years ago according to the site.

i just woke up. i slept my day away.
but really i stayed up past 3:30 watching TV. I'm all caught up for the year on Gossip Girl now. Before last night I hadn't watched any this season. I might have watched 8 or 9.

i have a lot to say about the Women in the MBA weekend at CMU but i think i'll write it later. i also have a lot to say about Westinghouse changing their Tuition Reimbursement policy but I'll say that later too.

5k

ran the 5k. hilly but fun. should have done the 10k. they thought i was doing the 10k so they forgot to hit the timer until like 5 or 10 seconds after i finished. i'll find out my time later. i tried to time myself but at one point i hit stop instead of lap.
it was for the pittsburgh runners club. highland park. took me about 40 minutes to get there.

there weren't a lot of people running. most of the kids only ran 2 miles (or was it 2k)
but then people ran the 5k and very few ran the 10k.
the 10k was the 5k course twice.
it was hard to push myself not knowning times and not having people near me.

the official times will be posted later (but i know mine will be slower than I ran it).

The steps were killer. there were a lot. they were steep.
but then near the end the hill was like the hill between the high school and west in our xc course. but it felt so much harder than that one used to.

a name like hill street should have given it away to me that there would be lots of hills.

the gowear fit says i burned about 275 calories during the race

it was cold but warm in the sun. i ran in my shorts (took of pants) but i kept my jacket thing on. then i regretted that later.
but a 5k is so short so there wasn't too much time I had to suffer.

i got home and then i used the exercise bike for 16 minutes since a 5k is a short workout. ~87 calories for that.

i ate more calories in sour patch kids yesterday than i burned today during those exercises.

GoWear fit

I got a GoWear fit. I think I need to adjust some things. Just doing stuff around the house sometmies counts as moderate activity.
The sleep part of it is pretty cool.

There are more. There is summary data you can export to pdf and there is a summary data excel file you can export too. You don't get the pretty graphs for what times you woke up in the night; you just get the summary line.

Being sick is no fun.

I only took half the number of steps that I wanted to take. Sleeping for so long does that to you I guess.
I still haven't worn this thing while exercising.

You can see details online (like what times you woke up in the night or your activity per hour. but you can only export a summary report and it does not give you that data. That annoys me.

Saturday

all week i felt that i was battling a cold. well i lost that battle.
i already have a raw nose. last night was when i first started sneezing like crazy
it seems everyone at work is sick or getting sick so i knew i would lose the battle.

this morning (at 10:30), i have people coming over for a stampin up class.

(i was typing the above earlier today... i forgot to post)

well at 10am the first person arrived. that's when it hit me that they were to get here at 10. i was still in my PJs. oops.
the class went alright. it was fun. kelly left things here and i rarely see her so we'll see how getting them back to her goes.

The class went well eeven with all the last minute planning.

10k details... been meaning to post for ages - Great Race

Typed this all on Sunday and never posted it.

so last night i was getting all stressed...not knowing what time to get there, where to park, etc. and feared that things would go wrong
i couldn't sleep well at all
i checked the weather last night and saw 39% chance of rain (hah)

this morning i woke up, got ready to go and couldn't find my bus pass. i thought you needed the pass. i spent 20 min looking for it. it fell out of the bag yesterday in the car. if i knew you could just pay 2 bucks again i would have done that.
so then i leave... and forget water. and vitamin water.
so then i park...
walk to the shuttle (bus) line
wait there for over 50 min
on the shuttle to the start line at 9:28.... race starts at 9:30
i got off the shuttle and had to walk up the hill to the back of the start line... but i didn't do that. i cut over in the middle.
got there at 9:41... the race started a little late to accommodate how the bus lines were crazy
so i did not get to stretch or warm up.
i jogged in place after the gun was fired... and then i did quads and by that time it was time to run.
it started raining at this point.. 5 min later it stopped raining.
way too many people. boxed in.

13 min in, jess frick (friend in high school who graduated in 2001 and i haven't seen her since) saw me and recognized me from behind. when i turned to say hi to her, i knocked my phone out of my pocket. so i carried it the rest of the way until it started pouring and then i tried to hide it in my clothes (bra). the phone is all scratched now.

during the run people were on the sides cheering and some playing music. someone was playing polkas
apparently a high school kid ran barefoot. i didn't see him.
i saw the guy running with the cake though -- guy w/o a shirt and on his back it said "Happy Birthday Me" and he had on a party hat... and he carried a sheet cake. this guy beat me by far.

part of the race was on the parkway which was interesting. i tried to take pictures on my iphone but it was too rainy and i was moving so they are blurry
then i finished and we had to migrate over so more people can finish.
i got water. they had a hose filling up a garbage can and dipped the cups in that can.
they had tents of bananas and cookies but i did not see them. i wish i had. i was starving.

around the 5th mile my orthotic was jabbing into my arch.. like the edge of it. i got a 1 inch cut on my foot from it. i didn't think i'd end up with a cut but i actually did


we met the people from the gym at work and took a group picture. we planned this. but apparently nobody planned to have a camera. we used my iphone. so then we used others iphones. everyone wasn't in my picture.

then i walked to the parking garage
and went in the wrong garage
then i had to go to the right one. go to the car. get money and my ticket. wait in line 30 min to pay .
then go to my car...top floor. and get in line to leave. waited an hour before leaving the parking garage. stupid line (58 min in line to leave the garage)

then i came to my parents and ate and waited hours for kristin and her baby to show up. kristin just left which is why i didn't get to type this sooner

and my phone keeps dying/freezing and timmy has to fix it. i fear the rain ruined it.
