Broken BodyMedia fit = lost all desire for everything. Stayed in bed almost all day. Poly kept me company.
I did cook Stir Fry for dinner. I watched some TV after.

Poly slept with me in the morning. When I woke up I tried to use my color wheel to come up with ideas of what to wear with my green jeans.I went to Google for lunch. It's amazing how good their food is. That rice was too spicy for me so I ended up wasting.
Poly helped me kill time in the afternoon. Or maybe she caused me to waste time.
I went to Sprouts. I bought chicken, green beans, broccoli, and 2 green peppers at Sprouts today for a total of $3.64.Then I went to Target and bought $70 worth of groceries. So Newman's Own sauce is 1.89 at Target but is over $3 at Safeway.
Dave and I went to the gym after he got home from work. Then Dave got Boudin's on the way home. The lady there recognized him and said she's his gym guy. Dave thinks the chips Boudin's gives as a side are the best ones. I have not tried them yet so I don't know.
BodyMedia fit stopped working. I had to go to sleep without it on hoping it would charge.
A few days before Dave's coworker, Sachi, gave us presents. She gave me bracelets. They are nice. The little bag they are in is nice too. Then the gift bag was super nice. The nicest I've seen. I can't believe how thick it is. I kept raving about the bags that Dave mentioned that to Sachi. She brought them back from India when she was there over the holidays.

I woke up early to run. Man was that hard. I was out the door by 8:10 to meet Brian by 8:30. We ran at Bay Trail, then walked a bit after for a little cooldown.
Almost as soon as I got home I called my mom on the phone. I feel like we were barely into our call when the smoke alarm went off. I forgot they were testing. Poly was on my lap but when the alarm went off she bolted and hid. I got half under the bed to comfort her a little. 40 minutes later, the alarm finally stopped. Contractors were going in every apartment to check all the detectors and all the sprinklers. I can't believe how long it took or how loud it was. I feel so bad for all pets.
After it was done, Poly and I laid on the floor. I let her rest against my hand. Finally after an hour or more she started to get less jumpy and relax a little. When I finally got up, I was stiff. I was using 2 newspapers as pillows. It wasn't the most comfortable thing. Poor Poly. When she was finally ready to get up and sat up on her own is when I got up. Immediately after that, I made myself a PB&J for lunch.
I debated not showering since I'd be working out in 3 hours but I just felt too gross so I showered. (I keep my new pink pants out in my closet to remind myself I need to stop getting fat so I can fit into them.) Then I looked at my running data and wrote about it. I was so exhausted so I didn't go to the store and I rested on the couch. I watched a few episodes of Melissa & Joey. I fell asleep for maybe 10 minutes.
I went to Body Pump at 5:30. Here's what I thought about it. The warmup easy until biceps. (I used 10 lb on each side. and I used to do 5 kg (11 lb).) Squats were way easy since I ran and have been fatigued. It felt easy but I think I should have gone down an inch or 2 more. I used 15 lb on each side. I used to do 10-12.5 kg (22-27 lb) per side. Chest I thought was easy until pushups when I couldn't do them on my feet. I had to do them on my knees and I hate having to drop down during pump tracks. I did 12.5 lb on each side. I used to do 7.5kg (16.5 lb). For back I did same weight as chest like I used to but it was harder.... on my shoulders. I didn't feel anything in my back. Biceps I did 5 on each side. I used to do 2.5 kg (5.5lb) but really I used to do 5 kg then I got lazy and kept backing it down. I was actually building up again and was up to 6kg on each side the last few times I did pump. Triceps I'm not used to doing without a bar or if we did it was 5kg on our laps, tricep extension with 5kg and kickbacks with 2.5. I basically did double that except I think with overhead extensions I did 5 lb instead of 10. Lunges I thought were easier until I did that squat thrust. I didn't like that. They scare my bad knees so then I get way off on count then I can't get back to where I should be. Plus I don't really want to be doing them. I want more lunges on the lunge track. I did 10 lb a side today and I used to do 8.5 kg/side (18.7lb) but she did warn us to go low and I wasn't sure why so I listened. Shoulders I was kind of ready to die and I still did the equivalent I used to do (even though a few years ago I would have had way more on the bar). I thought the plank part of that ab track was hard.
I did very similar weights or less and some things were hard and some easy.. My shoulders were dead right after class. I wonder how I killed them so bad to make them fatigued before I started. (I thought I'd be really sore the following days but I was not.)
After I got home, I went out to pick up pizza. I wish I took money with me to the gym because it would have saved me time.
During dinner we watched 30 rock. Then I watched 2 episodes of Biggest Loser. I'm glad to see they got dry fit shirts now for the contestants. They've been around a few years so I couldn't believe the show was still doing T-shirts. But then all the guts were showing on the guys. They should have gotten longer ones. I ate oreos while watching Biggest Loser. I ate 8... which is 4 servings. 1 serving = 140 calories.
Then I watched Mob Doctor. It's the last episode and I still wanted more. I watched Parenthood. I watched Private Practice. Dave woke up and wanted me to come to bed. He even picked up Poly so I couldn't use her as an excuse to stay up. Then I got on Netflix and watched a few episodes of Melissa & Joey until I fell asleep on the couch. The thing was, Dave took Poly but a few minutes later she just returned to sleep right up against me. I did get up and go to bed with her still on the couch though.

Shoes: Famous Footwear, Jeans: JCP, Sweater: Limited, Necklace: Lia Sophia ($96.96)
I woke up around 11 (oops). Then I watched Melissa & Joey on my iPad in bed. I got up around 1 and made peanut butter and jelly but went back to bed to eat it and watch more TV. (I was also sneezing a lot.) Around 4, I got up and went for my run. I ran 5 miles so I got back a little after 5. Dave was home. I was supposed to help him install his bike rack but since I left for my run too late, he did that himself. I quickly showered and we headed out the door.
We met Brian for dinner at Tomatina's. We were there almost 2 hours. We did a Google+ hangout with my family so Brian could talk to his relatives. It was hard to hear in the restaurant but there was so much pressure to do it soon because it was late in PA. They couldn't see a picture from my phone. I'm wondering if that was because I was not able to be on wireless.
After dinner, Dave and I watched a little TV and then he went in to read. I snacked, did a core workout, and snacked some more. Then I started watching Melissa & Joey until 3 am. I meant to go to sleep early since I had to wake up before 8 but I did a bad job. I kept saying 1 more episode and it's a lot easier when they are only 20 minutes long. Poly was bugging me and only happy when I got on the floor to spend time with her. She's quite the spoiled cat.

I was supposed to run with Hilary in the morning. We were playing it by ear and weren't sure when we'd go. We wanted to sleep in and wanted to avoid the rain. Well we both ended up saying up in bed long. Hilary wanted to go to Body Combat instead of run. I didn't want to go. She went to Body Combat and I took a roundabout way and ran to the gym then lifted weights. She came over and talked to me after class. I probably spent a good 20 minutes talking to her. Excluding that time, I spent 40 minutes lifting. I ran home. I didn't run directly home but still had to run a little past the apartment to get to a round number.
After I got back, I looked at some data online, made a hot pocket, and then helped install our bike rack on our car. Then we headed to the trails to bike. We only did a little over 3 miles today. I wanted to run versus bike. Dave was debating another loop but we decided against it.
We went to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. I wasn't even full but Dave was done forever and kept giving me a hard time about being ready to leave.
After we got home, I did a little more updating of graphs and started falling asleep so I went to the couch to watch some TV. I played Donut Popping and watched Property Brothers.
Then I started a new TV series, Melissa & Joey. I ended up staying up until almost 5am watching it.

I woke up to Dave cooking breakfast and asking me what I want. I like to eat 2 hours or more after I wake up so this waking up to breakfast might be nice to some people but it drives me crazy. He offered to make me an egg but I turned that down.I woke up and went to use my computer. I updated my weight graph and started updating my BodyMedia fit graphs. (I moved most BMF graphs to a new page so the main page has fewer graphs now.) The ones on my site were last updated in August 2011, but I couldn't even find that file on my computer. I only had up to February 2011. I logged in to BodyMedia fit and started doing exports. I hate that you can only do 28 days at a time. Three hours later I was still at it.
At 3, Dave went to see Hobbit. I didn't want to go so he went alone. I was still updating my graphs in excel but I was also talking on gchat. Dave brought back burgers from In N Out and we watched Undercover Boss. This was the first time I wasn't 100% disgusted by the ending. The CEO of Mood Media decided to provide health insurance to same sex partners. Usually bosses just give who they work with money and vacations and do nothing to better the company.
After that, we watched In Time. I liked that movie. I did want more when it ended though.
Dave went to sleep and I went to my computer to type some blog posts. I didn't even realize, but Poly was asleep right next to my chair.

January Workout Goals - Halfway (Almost)
Here's my progress so far for my January workout goals. I figured I'd share since I'm doing so well. I'll have all the details in the post at the end of the month. This is up to halfway through the 14th of the month.
- Complete 16 cardio workouts = 17
- Complete 13 core workouts = 8
- Frequency: Run 12 times = 10
- Distance: Run 60 total miles (Reach Goal of 70 miles) = 29.88
- Workout with Dave 5 times. = 8
- Lift weights 10 times. = 6
- Exercise 5 times that aren't considered cardio above (mainly thinking about walks here that don't fit in anywhere) = 9
- Have 3 double workout days (morning + evening, lunch + evening, etc) = 10
- Stretch for 10 consecutive minutes 2 times = 1
- Do foam roller exercises 3 times = 3
- Do yoga 1 time = 0
- Bike 5 Times = 7
- Attend Body Pump 3 times = 1
I have a few other goals that are related to exercise but aren't me working out.
- Have a photo shoot to get some athletic pictures for at the top of this post. = 1
- No more than 12 rest days all month (stretching or doing foam roller exercises means it is not a rest day) = 2
- No more than 3 consecutive rest days. = Happened 0 times
I'm potentially on track for all of them since yoga is only for 1 time the entire month and Body Pump is something I go to on Tuesdays and am going on January 15. All the goals in bold are ones I already met. If they are green, it means I'm on track to meet the goal. Pretty crazy huh? Getting a bike really helped out with double workout days and cardio workouts plus helped out on the new goal of biking 5 times. Is your January starting off as well as you hoped?
Week 5 of Half Marathon Training (1.7-1.13)

| Previous Summaries |
After dinner Dave and I went for a short walk. A few hours later I did an ab workout.
Tuesday: I woke up bright and early to run with Brian. We met at 8:30 and ran at Bay Trail. It was so foggy that he never got to see any of the nice views. I guess we have to go back next time. Brian is in town from Texas to give training so we felt like we had to run together. Normally Brian runs with a running group at an 11:30 pace.
We walked at 2 miles so Brian could take off his jacket and we walked a few extra steps. We ended up walking .09 because of that. But not bad for the 6 mile run. The app Brian used on his phone said we ran 6.11 miles.
My legs were feeling it from my tempo run the day before. I'm not used to speed. I'm not used to running two days in a row. And I'm not used to running 5 miles or more so it was all a bit of a challenge.
Wednesday, 1/9: Since I did Body Pump Tuesday, lifting was out. Dave and I went to the gym and I did 30 minutes on the elliptical. Running was also out because I ran 3 days in a row and needed a break. I didn't go all out on the elliptical because I didn't want to fatigue my legs too much. I'm shocked at how little I was sore throughout the day; I thought Body Pump would have made me super sore.
Thursday: I took a rest day. I mainly did that because my BodyMedia Fit armband wasn't working and I couldn't handle not having data. But I also did need a rest day. (I ordered a new armband. I have had this one for over 3 years.)
Friday: I ran to Hilary's, then ran 3 miles with her, then ran home. Our pace wasn't even that fast but it was a struggle for me. I had trouble keeping up. A few hours later we biked to google and walked around and had smoothies then biked home for a little over 14 miles.
Saturday: Dave and I went to Bay Trail to bike the loop and take some running pictures. We only stopped once for pictures and didn't do the entire loop. It was too rocky so we decided to go elsewhere. Then we went to Guadalupe River Trail and biked 8.8 miles there.
Sunday: Dave and I biked to and from the trail opening for a little over 4 miles. Since this was a different spot to get on the trail Dave wanted to bike it before he had to do it for work. Then a few hours later I went for a run. I wanted to run 8 but all week figured I'd just do 7. Then as the day went on and I didn't run, I thought I'd just do 4. Then I curled up in bed when I was about to go so I figured maybe I'd just do 2 before it got dark. I ended up squeezing 3 miles in.
Total Running Mileage: 18.66 mi (I actually had to limit running because I would have gotten way too many miles.)
Total Biking Mileage: 30.56 mi
Total other things: a few walks, biking 3 times, 2 core workouts, Body Pump once.
Summary: The weekend was a lot for me. My legs were constantly tired. Biking feels easy while doing it but since I'm not used to it, it's tiring out my legs more than I ever imagined. After Tuesday, I was limiting my running knowing I'd run Friday with Hilary and run on Sunday. I was afraid I'd get too many miles and also get injured for increasing too much. I still may. But this mileage should be closer to what I'm doing. Also 3 miles was the shortest which is pretty good for me. I really slacked off with the weight lifting this week. I should have done arms and back. I'm glad I didn't really do legs besides Body Pump. Now that I have a bike, it's so much easier to get multiple workouts in one day. Also now that I have a bike we leave the house to go biking instead of leaving the house to go to a restaurant so it's better for our health.

Poly woke me up. She wanted me to scoot a little to my right to give her some room to sleep to my left. I did but then I was stuck there with her. I read emails on my phone for a bit. Then I managed to reach my iPad and I played games. Finally she got up so I went and got my laptop. I don't know why but I climbed back in bed. I think I liked the warmth of the afghans. Well next thing I know, Poly is back cuddled up with me.
I finally got out of bed at 1 and made toast and had spaghetti sandwiches again. Now I'm out of leftovers. I cleaned up the living room. I put in laundry. I cleaned the bathrooms. I read facebook. I was mostly productive. (The top picture is from January 2.)
As soon as I put the load in the dryer, I headed to the gym. I specifically didn't plan to run because my calves are still bothering me. I read while using cardio equipment. I didn't even finish a chapter. I don't like long chapters. I thought the dryer would be done so I was only gone for 45 minutes. The dryer wasn't done. I continued to read. I started with 10 minutes on the elliptical. I was thirsty and it doesn't have a pause so then I decided to switch to the bike. I did 20 minutes on the bike. I was surprised how sweaty my tank top was when I was done with that. I decided if I ran on the treadmill for only a half mile that would help my mileage goal for the month a little but not kill my calves and if I was reading, I'd be running slow so I decided to run a half mile. Granted with that half mile now I've run 7.2% of the miles I need for the month but we are 12.9% of the way through the month. I added 2 new columns to my excel spreadsheet to keep track of those percentages. OK actually I added 4 columns. 1 with the running total of the miles I ran, one with the day in the month because I didn't a better way to do it, then the two with the percents calculated based on the other new ones.
I used my computer until Dave got home. We were about to head to the gym when my mom wanted to know if we wanted to do a Google+ Hangout with my aunt. We did that. I think we were talking over an hour. Then we headed to the gym. The gym was way less crowded. It took us 10 minutes to walk over. I lifted weights for 39 minutes. After Dave said we were done and I was leaving, I hit split and realized it was 39 minutes. I should have just gone another minute to make it an even 40. We sure walked slower on the way back. Dave was exhausted. I continued to time it. I stopped the timer when we went in Boudin's to get Dave a sandwich. Man they took FOREVER. We even saw his sandwich done and sitting there for many minutes before they even looked at it to get it to him. I also stopped the timer when we went in Trader Joe's. We went for Cookie Butter but also got pub cheese. They only had crunchy cookie butter. Dave asked someone there and they are out of it and don't know when they will get it in.The guy in front of me bought 3 gars of the crunch cookie butter. The cashier knew we were talking about the blue lid cookie butter when we mentioned they were out of the normal one. She seemed shocked. I guess everyone loves Cookie Butter. Perhaps it was my post raving about it :) (Probably not since that post only had 35 hits but I can pretend.) Our walk home took 11 minutes so my second workout was an hour.
We watched TV when we got home and finally had dinner. I made Jack Daniel's BBQ pork. I love that stuff. Poly hung out with me while we watched TV.

Sweater: Limited, Pants: JCP, Boots: DSW, Earrings: Target, Necklace: Gifted (NY&Co.), Belt: Kohl's
Jacket: Armani Exchange, Purse: Target
Tank: Target (I got too hot after shopping)
I was getting my camera set up to take my daily picture and Poly climbed up on the counter. I yelled at her and instead of getting down she just rubbed her head off the counter. She showed me who was boss.
I walked to Safeway because I had no bread to be able to eat spaghetti toast. I had a list but it only had 5 things on it. I wanted to buy more but I just didn't know what to buy. I spent some time updating my files for 2013 and entering outfits in my clothes database.
Between taking my daily photos without and with a coat Poly sure wanted to go back out with me.
My calves were still bothering me but I still wanted to get a run in before dark. I also wanted to nap. Somehow I found myself under 2 afghans. I decided to play some donut popping but set the timer on my phone just in case I napped. I set it for 30 minutes then reset it for 10 more after the timer went off. I never did nap and I actually went for the run just before dark. I got in 4 miles and probably had 3 more minutes of it being light enough outside to run without it being dangerous.
Dave said it was rest day so we weren't going to the gym so I decided to do abs, foam roller, and some body weight exercises for my legs. I stopped doing that when Dave came home with dinner. We had McDonald's. I wanted snacks after but nothing we had was appealing so I didn't snack. Then I spent all evening cropping pictures, blogging, photo editing, making collages, and reading facebook.
Poly was quite the annoying cat once it got late. I think she tries to tell me it's bed time. I went in to bed a little after 1 and played Donut Popping and then Solitaire until after 2:30. (oops)

(oops)

1.2.13 - Cleaned
Dave woke me up after I fell asleep on the couch. I had enough sleep for a full nights sleep but still went back to sleep. Poly slept with me. When Dave woke up, she visited him. Then he left, and she came back and we slept for 2 hours. I got up and my calves were so tight. I knew that calf machine that I never used before would do me in.
While Dave was home, the kitchen and entire apartment became a mess. When he's home, I clean less and it gets messier. He makes a mess too and I don't feel like taking the time to clean it up when he's there.
As soon as Dave got home we headed to the gym. We walked over and back even though he wanted to drive over. While leaving there were many cars in the turning lane to get into the parking lot. We would have been stuck waiting if we drove. We only did weights because our leg muscles are sore from yesterday.
On our way back we stopped at Boudin's so Dave could get dinner. I had leftover spaghetti. We watched Rachel and Lawrence. Dave was exhausted after the gym. (Just look at him sit in that chair.) Then it was computer time. I sporadically jumped between cropping pictures, blogging, and making new 2013 exercise files. Oh and playing some games like minesweeper randomly in the middle there. After I was done at my computer, I played games on my iPad in bed. I stayed up too late but by comparison it is nothing like how late I was staying up back in September and October.
I took some pictures of our messy apartment before cleaning to actually show what the difference was. Usually Dave doesn't notice.
I cleaned up the kitchen (see bottom right picture in collage) and did a few things on my computer. Before I knew it, it was 4 PM. The day sure flies. I had all these intentions to actually get stuff done once Dave went back to work but I slept past 10AM so that took up a lot of my day. Also I woke up and was replying to emails and that took until 11 AM.While Dave was home, the kitchen and entire apartment became a mess. When he's home, I clean less and it gets messier. 1.1.13
Jeans + Sweater: Limited, Boots: Famous Footwear
(I got dressed in real clothes because I thought we'd leave the house but then we didn't.)
I started off the new year with Dave waking me up early. Not only did he just wake me up early but he woke me up to go to the gym. He went to sleep at 10 PM on NYE so he was up early just like any other day. We headed over to the gym. I barely wanted to go since I had a cold the day before. I sort of still had it. I ran a half mile on the treadmill. He used the elliptical. Then we both did weights for our legs. I documented what I did in notepad on my phone. I spent 29 minutes lifting and then said I should have gone another minute to make it an even 30. We walked there and back even though Dave was going to drive. It took us 8 minutes to walk back. We went in Panera for bagels but I paused the timer during that. (Poly poses for a daily picture when she sees me setting up my camera.) Since I didn't get to do a core workout there I did that as soon as I got home. I like to always do a core workout each time I lift weights. I also have to do a minimum of 5 minutes of abs or it doesn't count.
I wanted to load my data from my BodyMedia fit and realized my armband wasn't collecting data for 2 days. I was so disappointed by this. (I was using my computer and after awhile I looked away from exactly at the screen and realized Poly was there staring at me.)
After we ate our bagels, we went for a bike ride. We rode to google and back for a little over 14 miles. We were slower closer to our house since that is where the traffic was. Around google there were no cars and in the middle we were on a trail so that wasn't bad. Dave's legs got really tired by the end. I said when he bikes to work he will have 8+ hours in between his rides so he gets time to rest. We only stopped for 2 minutes.
We watched some TV after we got back and looked at our data. Then I made dinner. I made Dave raviolis and me angel hair. I love angel hair and he does not. He likes sausage raviolis and I do not so it works out well.
After we ate, Dave and I watched Fringe for awhile. Then he was done with TV and I watched for a few more hours. I got caught up on Private Practice (2 episodes), Parenthood (1 episode), Mob Doctor (2 episodes) and New Girl (1 episode). I played Donut Popping almost the entire time. I did end up falling asleep on the couch. I didn't quite want to go in to bed so I put on Pawn Stars just to play a little more on my iPad and guess I ended up falling asleep. Usually if I fall asleep on the couch, I'll wake up after a couple hours but here I did not. I ended up not waking up until Dave woke up for work and came walking out of the bedroom wandering what was up. He woke me up and turned off the TV then. I went back to sleep. Oh Poly slept cuddled up with me the entire time.
