Beach

We have been going to the beach a lot this summer but this was our first trip to a much closer beach. I compiled a quick video.  Overall the sand area was super small but Liam still had fun and managed.

Dealing with 3 kids with 3 different swim abilities is not easy with just 1 adult.

The beach has lifeguards and also life vests you can borrow until 6 pm and then you are on your own.

Wild Waves

I've taken the kids to the water park and theme park a few times.  I compiled videos twice but we went more than twice. Here we went on 7/12 and 7/16.

I made a short on youtube so I can't embed that here very well.

I took 3 kids so we didn't go in the pool and then I took 2 kids while Liam was at preschool and we only swam. Traffic was really bad so we took more time driving to and from than we got to spend there in order to get home in time to get Liam from preschool.

Lake Sammamish Half Marathon Recap 3.4.23

I ran my first half marathon in 7 years. I was supposed to run 3 or well 2  halfs and 1 18 mi race last racing season and I didn't get to do any of them.

It was my worst half to date. It was also my first half since having 3 kids. And my first half since having 2 kids. So since 3 kids it's a PR.

lack of food day before

lack of sleep

boxed in

messed up garmin

Well it's 2.5 months later and the above is all I have written for the blog post.

To elaborate, I was boxed in for about 9 miles of the 13.1. That was so annoying. It was really hard when I wanted to do run:walk intervals but you could barely get past anyone so if you stopped to walk then you couldn't pass people again.

The weather was horrible.

I feel like I mentioned lack of food the day before but 2.5 months later I don't even remember those details.

I over dressed then spent a good 4 minutes trying to get my vest and hoodie off and figure out how to hold them. I was also dealign with my hydration vest so I had to take that off to take layers off.   The weather was unseasonably cold. It was a cold rain.

I didn't start my garmin as a normal run or a half marathon. it was set as a long run. I thought I'd just advance the lap at the 1 mile mark and it'd fix itself. I forgot that would advance to the optional run and miss the hour or more of the regular run. So around 40 minutes in, I realized my garmin had stopped. I started it again but I was missing over 5 minutes of distance and time. That added to confusion during the entire race.

The photos from the race said you could search by bib number but I think the weather messed that up because you couldn't read numbers on race bibs. I searched through all of the photos to find photos with me.

I sent a ton of marco polos to Beth during the race but I never saved them so it's too much effort to see what i had to say. Probably complaining about how it was too cold then too hot with the layers then too cold when I took off the layers. Also the long walk to the bus after then sitting on the bus to ride back to the start being annoying. I had a bag for the bag drop but then didn't use anything from it. There was nowhere to change.   I did update instagram after the race so I save the instastories to a video.

Mother's Day Half Marathon (5.14.23)

I was shocked how hot it was going to be for May but I at least went to sleep Saturday night expecting it to be hot. I pulled out everything I needed and had it all ready to go. I conveniently made a checklist in google keep the last time I ran a half so I had that to look at. I had to add sunscreen to the list since on the rainy day in March I didn't need sunscreen.

Most nights before races I wake up a dozen times nervous that I won't wake up with my alarm. I also set numerous alarms. Right before bed I thought I should check and set another alarm. I forgot to double check but I had one set.

Well at 5:58 Liam woke me up asking if it was morning. I said no and to go back to sleep. I totally forgot I had a race. I went back to sleep. 6:04 is when my alarm was set for but I don't ever remember it going off. Around 6:10 Miles woke me up saying his shoulder or arm hurt. That's when I remembered I had a race. I bolted out of bedd and think he just said OK go to your race and he went back to sleep. I never did learn what was going on that made his shoulder hurt.  Dave was awake but couldn't remember what time I had to wake up so he didn't wake me up.  I hurried and got out the door. There was plenty of parking so that was fine.
6:55 Sunscreen

6:59 Energize

I pinned my number, put on sunscreen, drank energize, and got in the bathroom line. I thought I had plenty of time so I waited in the real line versus using a portapotty. Well I got done there with 2 minutes or so before the start of the race.

7:26 start line
It was already really hot to me at the start of the race at 7:30 am. It was a crazy warm day. I think there were records going to be set but I never confirmed if they were.

The race had 2 waves at the start but I'm not even sure when it was split. I was near 1:50 and 2:00 pacers and they were insanely close together waiting at the start. The start was wide and you had an entire lane at the beginning so I wasn't boxed in at all. It was really nice not being boxed in.   I made marco polos to Beth and Ali during my race and saved them for some of howI was feeling. The last few miles I was just so hot that I didn't update.

After I finished I gave many race updates though. I can't believe my heart rate got up to 200.

My marco polo videos before, during, and after the race were over 15 minutes so I cut them down for this summary post.
  • Arrived even after waking up late
  • Energize
  • It's too hot already
  • At the start
  • .4 in
  • 16 min in - mile 1 no uphill 9:03. 6:30 into this and 10:54 pace
  • 10:20 2nd mile split - so hot
  • 3 mi on watch a minute before the 3 mile marker 30 min (29:00)
  • yay not boxed in
  • steep hill, minute 8 of eating my nutrition
  • Trail!
  • 11:33 on that split!
  • Mile 8 - 10:10
  • So hot  Miles 9 10:23
  • no more updates during the race.  The rest is post race commentary

Perrigo Parkrun 5k (12/31/22)

I needed some miles to hit my super stretch goal that I made up later in the year so I decided to run the parkrun 5k. My legs were very tired after 6 hard days of running.  This is my third time doing parkrun and my worst time. I did not run with intervals and ran continuously. This is rare for me. I also didn't try to speed up like with stride repeats. I just tried to run. I could tell my legs were tired. I actually think 2 of 3 times I ran this race I ran on tired legs unsure I was going to run it. I want to run more but don't seem to get to it.

I didn't arrive late for the first time. So that was nice to be able to use the bathroom and warmup before the race actually started.

I was waiting to post this for some race photos but they were lacking or not posted. The race director posted some photos and I was in 2 but he said look for the actual photographer photos coming soon and I never saw those. They were probably never posted because it's very difficult to post photos to the facebook page and I had a ton of issues when I did it. (I took photos at their 1/1/23 race.)

I did slower than last time but I didn't think I'd do that much slower.

Perrigo parkrun results for event #120. Your time was 00:26:56.

A day in the life ... (1/31/23)

It's been about 5 years since I did a day in the life post. I randomly thought about how I should type today.  Google paid storage is too full so I don't have photos backed up so this will be without photos.

7:20 alarm went off and I hit snooze.

7:50-8:30 Got dressed and getting the kids ready for school.

Photobooked until Liam woke up (20 min or so)

Got Liam ready for school

Grocery store

Dropped Liam off at school.  (~10:30)

Drove home forget what I did

Left for Trader Joe's

Got home, unpacked, groceries, immediately headed to a meeting.

Meeting location had to change on the fly since the Library isn't open.

Meeting until 12:45.

Drove home, wiped off the counters, put a frozen meal in the microwave and did follow-up to the meeting.

Ate and did follow-up to meeting.

Drove to where I pick up the kids. Ran. Had to cut the run short since I didn't have enough time.

Picked up the kids, listened to some jokes from Ella, took a shower, did some dental insurance stuff, emptied garbages, went and got Liam. Then I put in laundry since he had an accident during nap at school.

Dinner prep, dinner, photobooked while delaying going downstairs for Liam's bedtime. The kids complained about dinner but did better eating compared to normal. Also before dinner was ready, I gave them fruit and they ate 1.5 containers of strawberries that I just bought today. Had issues with photoboking and it took longer. I finished February 2020 in my photobooking.

Got Liam ready for bed but he's awake and I typed this at 10 pm.  He will probably go to sleep by 11 pm and I realize I have to do 1 more workout to hit my January goal so I guess after he's asleep that's what I'm doing.

I feel like I had no time but old Day in the life posts were worse since I can sleep almost 8 hours and before I couldn't.  (I try all the time to photobook and usually photobook twice a month but I managed to do a little 2 days in a row.)

2022 Random Goals - How I did

I made random goals again and forgot about them again or didn't forget about them but then forgot to document. There are a lot of things not complete but I still think I did pretty well.

In 2022:
  1. 150 blog posts with a reach goal of 250. = 47 ❌
  2. 2022 Photo of the week blog posts = 0 ❌
    • 2022 can be late but try to actually post more than half!
    • Go back to 2018 and do ~10 of the 40 missing
    • Also do the 7 missing 2019 posts
    • And do the 12 missing 2020 posts
    • And do the 43 missing 2021 posts
  3. Post or delete half of the 173 draft posts on blogger  = 176 drafts now!❌
  4. 1 Second Everyday. ✅ = not quite updated but I do months and the app crashes and I have to redo them.
    • I posted partially completed months on instagram so it's not just sitting there.
  5. 2022 Favorite photos album in google photos (have at least 10 mo added before the end of the year = 7 mo added. lots of google issues with uploading ❌
    • Finishing adding Sept - Dec to 2021 album ✅
  6. Complete 4 photo books! = 3+3 ✅
    • LACP Yearbook
    • Elementary school yearbook
    • Elementary school yearbook
    • 2021 part 1 (January - April)
    • 2021 part 2 (May - August)
    • 2021 part 3 (September - December)
  7. Read a book ❌
  8. Use to-do list planner. ✅
    • Document workouts in the calendar ✅
  9. Do productivity bootcamp ❌
    • I started it and it has been so helpful so far but I never finished.
  10. Update and Unpause Chatbooks to get them printed  ❌ (updated but didn't click unpause then got behind)
I'll keep my same reach goals in 2021 that I had in 2020. I didn't make either of them.

Reach goals
  1. Clean the kitchen 2x week = ? (I documented it 3x all year. hahaha. Last marked off January 20. I definitely spent time more than 2x week cleaning the kitchen but it doesn't count since I didn't document it)❌
  2. Make bed 2x week = 67 (needed 104)  but actually I didn't document it for 3 months and then didn't again for 2 months ❌

How I did on past years:
2021
2020
2019
2018

2022 Exercise Goals - How I did

For 2022, here are my exercise goals and how I did:

  1. Run 250 miles (with a reach goal of 500 miles) = 800.13 mi  ✅
  2. Run 104 times (With a reach goal of 200 times) = 247  ✅
  3. Complete 3 Beachbody programs = 1  ❌ (I did do a month of Bodi and did 2 weeks of Liift More. I also might have done all the 10 minute workouts that were pretty old but it wasn't considered a program.)
  4. Exercise in some form 156 times (that's 3x/week) (Reach goal of 312) = 413  ✅
  5. Win 20 step bets = 24  ✅
Oops I only did 4 of 5. I knew I wasn't keeping up with programs so then I added BOD workouts to my exercise file.  (I have a gap in the pull-ups since I did not know where to put the chin up bar.

Here are the details:

To go green for every month was at least the normal goal above but some months were higher.

2021 Goals

I have kept up with my exercise goals google sheet. I also did add some other things that I kept track of! I even made a file for Beth and she kept track of all her goals too!  ✅

I hope to run at least 3 in person races. - I ran 5  ✅

Merry Christmas 2022

Here's a screen shot of the card I made this year.  I didn't make a lot of versions. Since it is cheaper to do a greeting card than the 5x7 prints I used to do, now I don't have a nice saved version.

Running Milestone (12.21.22)

I did it! I have now run more total time in 2022 than any other year. I already bypassed the mileage but now I also did time! 2015 was more fun than this year. This year I get mad runs are cut short or it takes me hours to leave the house. In 2015 I ran with friends and pushed a stroller . I mostly ran when Dave was at work while pushing Ella who loved the stroller. I would go on some weekends bright and early in the morning to get a long run in too.

I have a lot of runs this year since I did a 100 day run streak. I ran 1 mile a lot of days which lessoned my average miles per run but overall it was very beneficial. The short treadmill runs that were quick helped my speed a lot.   This is my best pace since having kids.  I know I ran faster in 2015 but I spent a lot of time running with others which slowed my pace. But easy runs + fast runs helped me be faster overall. I couldn't run a half marathon as fast now as I did in 2015.  Maybe next year.

New Shelves (2022)

In September and October, we built shelves. It way longer than I expected. It was hard with all the kid interruptions.

Now it's been done for 2 months and I still barely have containers in there. The little support blocks actually make it more difficult to put containers in and out. Also it's pretty deep so other things fit.  It's so hot in there or humid so all the taped on labels or sticker labels have fallen off so it makes it fun to try to find what I need. I think I'll do what Beth told me she did and just write with sharpie on the lid on the few things that will always be in the containers.

I actually had 18 minutes of video so I trimmed a bunch to include just different steps.

I took notes every step of the way with what time we did things or stopped for the day. I didn't look at it when recording voice over and I still haven't looked at it since the day I wrote it. I should take pics of it though.

2022 Week 1/52 photo

Every weekend, I do laundry. I do a ton and separate it by person and then also towels. I find it easier to sort first then just fold each person separately. Liam likes to hang out in bed and watch TV while I do it. He always climbs under the covers when he does it.

Note those little laundry baskets are perfect to have each kid have one.

100 day run streak

I made it 100 days of a run streak. A lot of treadmill miles. I ran at least a mile a day. Lots of days lately have been just a mile with so many house projects going on. I ran 233.17 miles in 100 days. That's an average of 2.33 miles per day! My average pace was 10:03. 36 runs were treadmill runs! I was pushing a stroller during 13 of those runs. I ran 2 5k races and 1 10k timed trial. I ran at least 3 times when I shouldn't have just to not miss run streak days.

At first i might switch up the incline on the treadmill or did some various hill ones where you change incline but then I started just running all the time at incline 2 since the treadmill was less noisy at that incline. I tend to try to set the treadmill speeds faster to get them over with since I was just running to do 1 mile.

I really wanted to hit 80 miles in August and failed and then I thought for sure I would in September and failed again.

The poor air quality made it really hard to hit 20 miles in a week which is what I wanted.

Perrigo Parkrun 5k (10/1/22)

I decided to do a 5k since it was just my birthday. It's my 2nd Parkrun 5k. I ran my first just over a month earlier on August 27. The course was different this time. It has a different start and finish but you just entered where you run around the ball fields differently and exit differently. That didn't stop the course from being slightly short though.

I wanted to improve and I did!

I was late just like last time. I really need to get out of the house quicker.

I thought I did better for women but apparently some passed me at the turn around and I never noticed.

The weather was almost perfect. It was a great temperature and a little sunny. Last time it was cloudy.

I noticed results posted online before I even noticed the email with my results.

Perrigo parkrun results for event #107. Your time was 00:25:44.
Congratulations on completing your 2nd parkrun and your 2nd at Perrigo parkrun today. You finished in 27th place and were the 5th Female out of a field of 70 parkrunners and you came 1st in your age category VW35-39. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Congratulations on setting a new Personal Best at this event! Congratulations on your fastest time this year.
You achieved an age-graded score of 59.07%. For an explanation of age-grading, please see the WAVA age grading overview.

I did better than last time but had a worse place.  I did better by almost a minute but the course was shorter.  I am still surprised how well I did even though I also feel like I could have run harder.

My mile splits were different in all the apps. I made a summary graphic in instagram to show all of them.

I had water with me and forgot to drink any during the race.  I drank it after and also drank a little more in the car.  I was about as late as late time. Maybe even more late since they started talking about the race before I showed up.   Last time my Garmin was set to easy run and this time stride repeats so I never actually had mile splits on the Garmin as I ran.  I set my app to run:walk intervals of 1:30-0:15 but then I didn't ever walk on them. I did walk 2 or 3 times during the race.

I actually knew where the PR bell was this time so I went to ring it and someone offered to take my picture. Here she was offering everyone. She used my phone to take it so then I had that to make my graphics.  The course was shorter but I still would have beat my last time based on pace.   According to NRC the average pace went form 8:38 to 8:22 (and the course was .05 shorter)

Next time I need to leave before 8:37. It's too close to 9 am. I went a different way. GPS told me to go a different way but I just followed along. I liked the way last time better. I came home a different way than I came home last time and I liked last time's better too.

I'm surprised I was 5th for females since I only thought I saw 2 ahead of me. I guess I didn't pay enough attention.  There were 70 total runners this time and 69 last time.

I'm way in the back ground of this photo. I'm in a few way back like that but then when I got close, I wasn't in any.

When we moved from CA to WA, we drove up. I took notes in my planner about our trip. I planned to blog but them I never did anything with them. I guess months later, I might as well type them up and make a post about the move.
