Miles 28 Month Update (1.10.19)

My last update post was for 25 months.

He pretty much wears 4T shirts all the time. He has a few 4T pants he wears but some are too long. We lack 3T and I was trying to buy some but the stores seem to never have any. He still wears 2T pants sometimes but they are mostly too short.  5T PJs are way too small.
January 7
Miles has been very stubborn. He will yell and cry and scream when he wants something and he's not getting it.  But he hasn't done the tantrums where he collapses on the floor yet.  He doesn't like to go to sleep. He stalls. He also really wants someone to sit in there with him now.
January 6
Miles is still obsessed with Daniel Tiger. On the big TV that is the only show he wants to watch but he will let me read many other books now. But we read a lot of books prior to bed.  He also talks a lot about wanting to go to his old house only when he's in his crib. I'm unsure what specifically he's talking about. It started after we traveled.

He loves preschool where I go and he gets upset about going to drop off preschool.  He doesn't cry at all at drop off if Dave drops him off. Too bad that only happens once every 3 weeks or so.
He has zero interest in potty training. He likes his diapers. He won't even wear pullups. He was good at using the potty before he was 2 when he had a diaper rash but that cleared up and he didn't want to use it again.
January 4
Miles hates baths and showers again. He talks about how he doesn't want to get naked. He really didn't want to shower/bathe when we were traveling.  He likes his clothes so much that he likes to sleep in his shoes. Every single nap and night-time for the past few weeks he has slept in his shoes.

Milestones
On October 11, Miles woke up 4 am crying like crazy. He needed to cuddle and Daniel tiger books Then back and to crib. At 2:30 PM he cried so hard he threw up. He wanted to put a sheet of paper back. It was nap time. On October 17, Miles is forward facing in a car seat after we had to get the bike in the car. (First time.)
On October19, Miles sang and participated at MVPNS preschool music time. His first time actually participating versus just sitting.
On November 4, while doing bedtime with Miles we were talking about the day. I asked, “Did you have fun running your race today?” Miles said, “I didn’t run the race.” I corrected my question, "Did you have fun walking your race?" Miles answered, "Yea. I walked my race!"
On November 9, 2018 Miles pointed to his shirt saying he had stripes on. Then I asked if anyone else did and he went over to person who did and told her. (This was at preschool.) On November 21, Miles had his 3rd haircut.
On November 22, Miles threw up during Thanksgiving dessert. It sure put a stop to everyone else enjoying their dessert. He ate a ton of whip cream so maybe that was it.
On November 28, someone asked Miles how old he is. He said “2 and a half” but he’s not that old. Later in the day he counted to 10.
On November 30, Miles held another kids hand at Ring Around Rosie at preschool. Yay. Kids only seem to hold their parent's hand.
On December 1, Miles has a diaper rash. It lasted 5 or so days. He was not happy.
On December 3, Miles tripped on the curb and cut inside his mouth. It was a good inch cut and was bloody. He only cried for about 3 seconds. His face had blood coming out of his mouth and he wasn't even crying as I was trying to get a napkin to wipe him.
On December14, Miles says when he grows up, he wants to be a police officer. He sang in his first Christmas concert.
On December 16, Miles had his 4th haircut.
On December 25, Miles fell asleep for nap with Pap-Pap in bed!!!! I can't believe he did this. I fell asleep while Pap-Pap was reading to Miles so they left and let me nap. Once he was asleep, he got moved to his crib.
On December 27, I dozed off reading to Miles and he said the next full sentence in a book that we never read before our trip here. (And it’s a 48 page book. My favorite book from 3rd grade. Felix the Funny Fox )
On January 3, I discovered Miles was covered in hives at 9pm. I took him to the doctor on the 4th and they said it was viral from his cough/cold. He had them for about 3 days.
On January 8, Miles woke up at 1:05 AM. I was with him for 2 hours then I put him in his crib. After 20 minutes he was crying for me again. He was up until after 3:45 AM. It was a long night.

27 Weeks (January)

I had my glucose test and results were posted later that day.  I also had some blood work done. My iron is low. No surprise there. But then I checked my prenatal vitamin to see how much iron I was getting and it was 0!!!! Buying other vitamins to include iron!

2013 and 2016 for comparison
I keep thinking I look huge. I am a lot bigger than other pregnant friends who are further along. Then also some people show even more. Everyone is just different.  At preschool one mom is due Feb 28 and one in March and I'm bigger than them.

I tell people how I am in my trend of gaining 3 lbs a week and I don't think they believe me. My gain is on track based on these generic graphs but I lost weight then gained that and then gain at a very rapid rate the last trimester so at first I'm low then on track and then I'm way too high.  I found a calculator since my apps don't seem to tell me about weight gain anymore.
Size of baby: Cauliflower, 14.4 inches long from head to heel. My app on my phone says the baby weighs about 2 pounds, which is the same weight it listed for 26 weeks.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  17 lb gain overall. I gained 3.0 in the past week. (I saw I gained 3 lbs last time and thought oh how exciting I gained way less than that this time then I went and looked and was in disbelief that I actually gained 3 lbs this time too.)

Maternity Clothes:  I sleep in T-shirts but they are getting small. All tops are maternity that I wear in public anymore. My hoodie is not but it won't zip. My maternity hoodie doesn't have pockets so I suffer.  My pants are all athletic pants but my XS ones are too small. Why is it so hard to find pants in long length. (I have 2 medium pants I bought when 8 months pregnant with Ella that are still big. I have 1 pair of small pants that I bought when I was still heavy after having Miles.  So then I tried to buy more pants but I'm failing.)

Gender: Boy

Movement: There is movement but I feel like it was way more last time.

Sleep: My sleep is not so good. I'm so tired at night from being so lightheaded I don't even start netflix or get out my laptop. But then I may wake up in the night and then can't fall back to sleep if it's close to morning.  Miles was up 1 night this week from 1-3:45 and then I couldn't fall asleep until 5:30. That was rough. I napped twice this week. I was really fighting a cold/sick.

What I miss: Exercising. Functioning without being lightheaded.

Symptoms: Going to the bathroom A LOT. My low back hurts a little.  My leg muscles seem to crap a lot more lately. But also I think I suck at drinking water so then I blame the cramping on that.  My groin will hurt a lot and then I limp for awhile.

Best moment this week: Actually getting my glucose test done.

Looking forward to:  Getting Miles into a bed so that the crib is ready for the baby.

Exercise:  I used the elliptical 1 time and got lightheaded at 12 minutes and clammy shortly after. I was trying to finish the 15 minute workout and it was tough. I also did a 1 minute push-up test once.

Same this time: I gained more than I should in the week! I had my glucose test this week all three times. I was doing baby things the first time around and then 2nd and 3rd pregnancy I was not getting ready. Wow I gained 3.3, 3.0, and 3.0 lbs this week in the 3 pregnancies.

Different from last time: I worked out a lot more the last 2 times.  I was in a lot better shape at the start of both of those pregnancies too.

Kids Say ... (October 2018)

I'm getting worse and worse at documentation.

Miles: Kitty come here. I want to show you something.
Me: What do you want to show kitty?
Miles: I want to show kitty the lights. Kitty look at the lights. Do you see the lights?"

My kid for you. I need to change his diaper. I tell him
Me:OK Miles it's time to eat.
and his face lights up. I realize I said the wrong word.
Me: Sorry Miles I mean I have to change your diaper.
Miles: NOOOO!

2019 Week 1/52 Photo

We were at Ikea and Dave sat down for a little break then the kids were begging him to tickle.  He held both and counted 1, 2, 10 then tickled. They loved it and begged for more and more. I was looking at some side tables in the area.  They loved it. I thought they were nuts.  Then they wanted to climb on him and both sat on his shoulders.
I included 2. The second is blurry but it shows how they were on his shoulders too.

2018 Week 52/52 Photo

I had many many photos I wanted to choose. I better blog a lot to include some of them elsewhere. I decided on this picture. Miles loves books. Here Uncle Mike is reading him one of the new books he got. We read this book about a dozen times in the few days we had it there.

2018 Week 51/52 Photo

There were lots of good pictures or lots of potential good pictures that were blurry. It was hard to pick one. Here Ella and I are in our matching dresses. When I picked the picture I just liked how happy we both looked. I realized later it wasn't her birthday anymore but she had on her birthday princess crown. Then even after that I realized we were matching. The only time I wear dresses anymore is when I match Ella.  Good thing I took a selfie because we don't have any other pictures of us in our dresses.

Down By the Bay 5k (11.4.18)

Before the race
Months ago I registered for a 5k and Ella and Miles for a Tot Trot. I even did it before getting the 15% discount was available for the preschool families.

The week of the race, my plantar fasciitis got so bad. I was in constant pain. I took a break from workouts the week. I should have taken more rest time but I was already signed up.
The day started with the tot trot.  Then we had a little time to kill and Beth and I lined up for the race.   It was my first race in many years without a Garmin. I did have mapmyrun on my phone but I couldn't easily look at it easily.  I missed the beeping ever .25 miles.

Beth and I ran 1 mile continuously then we turned on the run:walk interval app. We ran a minute and walked 30 seconds for the rest of the race besides the last few hundred yards.  The course was mainly flat but there was a slight hill and going down it made my plantar fasciitis hurt so bad. I could have done better if my feet weren't so bad.  I never did get to properly train because I was so busy running a mile to and a mile home from school. I didn't have it in me to run more but also since I was running so much short distances I never had time to run longer than a mile unless I was running to the other preschool which I did some Fridays.

At the very end they had some man made rolling hills or if you were in a stroller you could take the flat path. I really wanted to take the flat path since downhills hurt my feet so bad but nobody else was so I didn't.

Coming in to finish, Dave and Ella were there. Ella cheered me on and Dave took some pictures. I finished and tried to turn around and take video of Beth finishing but I just held my phone up and never actually started the video.

My time was similar to the first 5k I ran. I hadn't run a 5k in so long so it was about what I expected. It is a lot easier to run without pushing a double stroller though. Official results: 31:34.
After the race
I feel like I wrote more at one point but lost the draft.  But this is good enough. I did want to run more and find another race to redeem myself but then bad air quality and rain and my plantar fasciitis all contributed to not running for a few weeks. Then pregnancy issues and then traveling meant I didn't run for a couple months.

Some pictures Dave took of me coming in through the finish. Beth is a little behind me.

2019 Random Goals

I always make exercise goals but last year I made some random goals. I'm going to do that again this year. I hope I do better than I did in 2018 though.

In 2019:
  1. 240 blog posts with a reach goal of 280.
    • This is close to 2 posts every 3 days. Last year I had a goal of a post every other day. I met that but missed posting about so many things. I also started making shorter posts with videos so I should be able to hit this. I mean I may have a lot of trouble too when dealing with 3 kids. 183 is my minimum which would be 1 post every other day.  The next few goals are more like sub-bullets of this one but they get their own number for tracking.
  2. 2019 Photo of the week blog posts
    • These can be late but continue with it.
  3. Weekly new baby blog posts for 6 weeks
  4. Monthly blog posts for new baby
  5. Complete 2 photo books!
    • This was my goal last year and I did 1. I did work on Chatbooks but I will at least want to finish the 2 road trip books I started and almost completed. Then I will need to make a new road trip book. I also want a pregnancy photo book. So clearly that is more than 2 so hopefully I can finish 2. I even have one started for Miles's first year.  (In 2018 I finished 1 book and was really close to finishing a 2nd)
  6. Read a personal development book
    • I bought one over a year ago and only read the first chapter. I'll read that or another.
  7. Use to-do list notebook.
    • I used it in 2018 and it helped my mental workload a lot so I will continue with it.
  8. Finish watching 2b Mindset videos.
    • I won't be perfectly utilizing everything but I want to know the stuff at least.
I should probably have a goal to read fb less and waste less time on instastories.  Some things that are harder to quantify I was thinking about like saying no to more things. I also wanted to get back into the habit of some daily habits but I know with a new baby I do not want to overcommit. For 3 months I made our bed daily and then I was just so exhausted I quit. I miss that. I also go to sleep now instead of cleaning the kitchen every night. I miss that too.    I don't want to put myself in a box of cleaning daily or making bed daily and I miss one and then miss the goal. So for now I'll also add to make the bed and clean the kitchen more than I've been doing the past month. (Which is making the bed only when I have a lot of laundry to fold on it and cleaning the kitchen once a week.)

Reach goals
  1. Clean the kitchen 2x week
  2. Make bed 2x week

Hives 1.4.19

January 3
Before bed on January 3, I noticed Miles had hives.  I noticed at his diaper change at 9 pm. I chilled watching him and he actually fell asleep in the chair.
January 4 morning
They seemed to have gotten a little worse even with Benadryl overnight. At preschool, I did find out that on the 3rd his teacher noticed but just thought it was diaper rash.
January 4 at the doctors
I took him to the doctors on the 4th. He had a fever of 100.0 at the doctors even though the crappy thermometer at home didn't have one. (We threw that thermometer away.) He got stress hives at the doctors and it got worse.  The doctor said it was viral from his cold/cough. It'd probably take a couple days to go away. I was told to give him Benadryl and if he's scratching use hydrocortisone cream. He did scratch a lot. I gave him Benadryl twice a day even though I could give it every 6 hours.

At the doctors he got stress hives so he got a lot worse with hives.  By the 5th when he woke up, he was a lot better but not perfect.  He was still scratching some here or there mainly at his ankles or arms. He kept refusing cream so it didn't go so well.

Miles likes to say he doesn't have hives. If you try to lift up his shirt to look at his hives he likes to refuse. After nap his ankles were exposed because his pants were a little short. I touched his legs and he said "Mommy you are hurting me."
January 6
He still had hives a little on the 6th. He also had some eczema but everywhere he scratched he also had marks from scratching.

2019 Exercise Goals

I often write a goal post at the beginning of the year. Years ago I also had monthly goal posts. This year is a little tougher but I'm going to try.  It's tougher because as I get more and more pregnant, workouts change.  Then once you have a baby, you take 6 weeks off. But if it's anything like last time, it might be way way longer. I don't want to do the year without any goals though.

For 2019, here are my exercise goals:
  1. Run 36 miles
    • That's 3 miles a month but really I won't be running for awhile. I'll start running and then run .5 mi at a time then maybe up to 1 then maybe longer. I really hope I can run. Running is my favorite.
  2. Run 36 times
    • I remember after giving birth and finally being cleared to run you start slow and only run about a half mile at first. So I decided to add a number of times goal.  I will probably run 3x before I give birth so then the rest will be after. Just looking at the goal now of 3x/mo but when you think about it that I won't be running until June that's 6x/mo after that. That seems tough.
  3. Complete 2 Beachbody programs
    • I plan to do random workouts and not a program until probably June which is why the number is 2.
  4. Exercise in some form 156 times (that's 3x/week)
    • It will be more like 4x/week, then 0x/week, then who knows what.
For inspiriting others, I plan to
  1. Run 6 free challenges
  2. Run 3 month long challenge groups
This may not seem like a lot but, I am not even sure I will make it.

What are your goals?

26 Weeks (January)

I had a doctor appointment about a week late since I was traveling. This appointment was with the nurse practitioner instead of my regular doctor. She said my BP was good (99/48),  the baby's heart rate was good and consistent (150-155 on doppler), and the fundal height measured well.  But then she said the only concern was gaining 12 lbs since my last visit. Funny I've only gained 11.6 lbs total but when I go and weigh myself in shoes and a hoodie or not in a hoodie it just varies.  I did lose about 8 I had to gain back then gained 11.6 on top of that.

I'm feeling baby movement more.

I'm noticing it is a lot harder to do various things like getting up off the ground or sitting to eat.  Workout moves are more difficult now with a bigger belly. I want to run but feel like that wouldn't even be fun.

I want all the food. I eat a ton of food. I want more food. I told people this week it's like I'm eating for 8.  Yet I have started getting lightheaded. Like today I got lightheaded twice and I even ate breakfast.

I've noticed my face is a lot rounder now than it had been. People keep telling me I gain all the weight in my belly but my thighs are 3 inches larger than they were so clearly it's not all belly.

It's getting to be a struggle to carry Miles. He's heavy. He wants to be held a lot. And it's all hard with my belly. He tells me "hold me nice."  I hold him and he slips down because he can't use his legs so much to wrap around me.

I wrote this all on the day I hit 26 weeks. That used to be my norm like when I was pregnant with Ella but now I tend to finish 5 days late.
Size of baby: Eggplant, 14 inches long from head to heel. My app on my phone says the baby weighs about 2 pounds.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  I gained 2.4 lbs this week so I'm at 14.0 lbs overall!

Maternity Clothes:  Wearing them all the time except to sleep in and workout bottoms.

Movement: There's a lot more lately.

Sleep: I think I'm sleeping a decent amount but I'm always tired. My dreams are crazy. I wake up to pee a bunch. Sometimes I wake up near 5 am and then I can't fall back to sleep.

What I miss: Exercising easily.

Symptoms: Always having to go to the bathroom.

Best moment this week: I don't know.

Looking forward to: Not sure.  I was ready to say the baby but I feel like we need to get some things in order before I can be looking forward to it. Like where is the baby stuff and what should I do with it? How can we do the carseats in the car? Stuff like that.

Exercise:  I did do a bit more exercise this week than I have been doing. I did 2 workout videos and used the elliptical twice. This is not as much as I want though.

Same this time: I took some pictures that weren't my side profile all 3 times. Apparently going to Ikea this week is a thing. Two out of 3 times we left empty handed though. I gained over 2 lbs this week in all 3 pregnancies. I mentioned being lightheaded with Ella and how I can't stand or shop after eating and I noticed that to be true now too.

Different from last time: I always miss working out but I worked out less this time than the previous 2 times. I had a 4.4 mile run when I was pregnant with Miles. Man am I jealous. I had no bladder issues when pregnant with Ella. I did say I had to pee a lot but that was like nothing compared to now. Then with Miles I used to complain I felt like I had to pee after running a half mile. Now if I actually ran I wish I was so lucky as just wishing I felt like I had to pee.  If you look at pictures from various angles, you can see that I have more love handles this time around.

2018 Random Goals - How I did

In addition to my workout goals for 2018, I made some other random goals. I kind of forgot about them though. I knew one and forgot another.

In 2018:
  1. 183 blog posts with a reach goal of 250. = 205
    • I remembered the goal of every other day and all throughout the year I'd know how I was doing based on the tallies. I wished I remembered the 250 reach goal because at the end of the year when I only had 205 I was disappointed with how much stuff I wanted to blog about and never did. I have big events or functions I wanted to blog about and never got it posted.
  2. Complete 2 photo books! = 1
    • I forgot this was even a goal. I guess next time I make goals I should look at them. I always looked in on my workout goals but never these.  I thought I did 0 but then went back and checked my shutterfly emails and found order confirmation so I at least did 1.

I only had 2 goals and didn't even do them. Oops.  Do you make some goals for the year? I call them goals and not resolutions. I feel like resolutions are something different.  I will have similar 2019 goals and I will not forget about them!

2018 Exercise Goals - How I did

I last updated in November but wasn't exact with everything.

I made a post with 2018 goals and I have updated about my monthly progress a few times.

For 2018, here are my exercise goals and how I did:
  1. Run 72 miles (that's 6 miles a month) with a reach goal of 100 miles = 107.48
    • My plantar fasciitis got bad so I last ran on November 4 too.
  2. Complete 4 Beachbody programs - I completed 3 phases of 80 day obsession but still only count that as 1 program I guess.  I have 2 workouts left of LIIFT4. During LIIFT4 I did some other shorter videos some days so I could have finished it.  Shred week is harder with a huge pregnant belly.
  3. Exercise in some form 208 times (that's 4x/week) = 276
    • My app says I have exercised 276 times. I know there were times I did minor things and didn't document it.
Random other goals related to exercise -- I haven't done anything there!
  1. Have a photo shoot while running
  2. Have a photo shoot while doing various forms of exercise
  3. Combine random exercise files/videos to one spot on my computer
For inspiring others, I hoped to
  1. Run 6 free challenges = 8
    • 2 in February
    • 2 in March.
    • 2 in June!
    • 2 in August.
  2. Run 3 month long challenge groups = 4
    • I ran one in August (~7 weeks)
    • October 1 (9 week group)
    • December.
Well I never did exercise photo shoots but I did record lots of exercise videos and after I got my ring light the screen shots are a lot better. Maybe that can count. I still wanted a photo shoot but after I got pregnant I didn't really want one.

I didn't meet everything but I made goals before I knew I was moving and before I knew I'd have a 4 week road trip. So all in all I call it a success. Also I made them before I knew I'd be pregnant for 5 months of the year.

1 SE 2018

Back in June I decided to jump on the 1SE bandwagon and make the compiled videos that way.  I went back to April but couldn't go back further because I got a new phone in April and didn't have my old pictures.

Here is the full compiled video. Some days I did 2 videos. The recent months I actually picked the best videos but early on I did roll the dice and it picked the video and the clip to use. That saved time but maybe not the best.

This is so fun for me to watch. I am always so behind on blogging about events or things so this just gives you a glimpse.

25 Weeks (December)

I finally noticed being huge this pregnancy. My belly is getting in the way. I can't sit and lean and cross my legs. There just isn't enough room for the belly.  Getting up and down off the ground is harder.
I'm such a slacker at even loading the pictures onto my computer so then I have trouble actually posting these.

My wedding rings seem tight sometimes.

Ella felt the baby kick on the 27th.
Size of baby: Zucchini, 13.6 inches long from head to heel. My app on my phone says the baby weighs about 1.5 pounds.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  11.6 lb gain overall. I gained 5.5 lbs in the past 2 weeks (I didn't have a weight measurement last week.)

Maternity Clothes:  I wear normal athletic pants most days and maternity tops. Some dresses are not maternity.

Movement: I feel movement but feel like I barely feel anything.

Sleep: Sleep has been a little better.  I'm not up as much peeing.

What I miss: being able to easily bend to the ground to pick something up while I'm seated.

Cravings: No

Aversions: No

Symptoms: Going to the bathroom a lot. Muscle cramps. Sometimes groin pain.

Best moment this week:

Looking forward to:

Exercise:  I don't think I worked out at all.

Same this time: No cravings and no aversions. Always going to the bathroom. I mentioned muscle cramps last time too.  The muscle cramp was mentioned a week earlier with Ella and didn't happen in week 25 though.

Different from last time: I haven't been sick this time and last time I was finally not that sick so that was good. I also seem to be sleeping more this time than the last 2 times.

1 SE December 2018

I still have days where I don't have a horizontal video to use. Some months I do better than others. There was one day where I had to use a picture and didn't even have a vertical video.  Sometimes it's tough because I'll take vertical videos for instagram and then horizontal to have for normal purposes.
