6.28 Mile Run (instead of 15) - 3/21

I went to North Park to run 15 miles. I was bored by myself. I quit early.

I half exaggerated reasons to quit early.  Four miles into the run, I passed someone I know going the opposite way. I should have turned around and joined him.  It would have been slower but I would have gotten 8 in at least instead of just 6.28.

I did run my fastest North Park loop this season.  Last year I consistently ran the loop in 45-46 minutes so I was pretty close. I set little goals along the way with different splits for different mile paces. My goal was to get slower as I went.

Reasons I quit

  1. My shins hurt the entire time (and the entire day)
  2. I was bored
  3. I was hungry
  4. I kind of thought I was about to get lightheaded.
  5. I forgot to buy those energy gummy things
Reasons I should not have quit
  1. I wouldn't have to admit it on the blog that I quit
  2. I would get another long run in to prepare me for my 30k this weekend.
  3. My weekly mileage would have been right at least one day during the week
  4. I complained to my husband for not supporting my running enough and for wanting me to do things when I should be running and then I would go and quit on my own
  5. The weather was very nice at 55 degrees.
I did almost quit after 1 5mile loop but I did start the second one so that says something.

My elapsed time was so long because after 1 loop I stopped at the car and got water and then got my phone and texted people telling them to talk me out of quitting after 1 loop. I did get some motivating words so I decided to keep going.

During loop 1 I took off my long sleeve shirt because it was hot. I then left that long sleeve shirt in the car for loop 2 and it was cold.

My 3.1 mile split for a run (not a race) was 28:07.  That's only about 1:30 slower than my race pace. Pretty good I guess.
